    =====================

I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Steps To Become Fedex Certified!!!

Wow that took a long time to read. wish i got here earlier =P

To all those who got the waiver and have shipped snakes through FedEx legally- What is the shipping charge for shipment of a "harmless reptile" ?

And is there any progress on the business to business clause?
Anyone talking to james brown about it?

All these shipping companies are just stupid if they dont realize the income they will bring in if they allow shipping of harmless reptiles.

Ye spoke to James he was firm on Bus to bus no residential but alot of people are obviously ignoring that part hugh!

I have found my shipping to be between $45-55 for overnight delivery and have had customers not wanting to pay that. i simply went under rates and that is for a reg package at there normal rate.

I do not see how they care if it goes to a residential address because either way they will not guarantee it so why does it matter?

Oh well.

Since Brian's post, has anyone been told that they cannot ship reptiles?

not anymore

I arange all my packages for shipping online, it's really easy and I do not have to mess with live help.

Hey guys,
I've read this thread but I'm still a little confused. I'll explain what I've done so far and plan to do and I'd really appreciate if someone who has been successful can confirm that I'm doing this right.

1.) I completed this application at www.fedex.com http://www.fedex.com/us/services/pdf/PKG_Services_Application.pdf?link=4

2.) I mailed my package with my application to the FedEx testing facility.

That's as far as I've gotten so far. The rest I'm not sure about. These are the things that I think need to happen next but I'm not sure...

1.) I assume that I will receive an approval letter from the testing facility.

2.) I assume that I need to mail or fax this approval letter to a FedEx sales rep.

3.) I assume that I will then receive a contract from Fed Ex that I need to sign and send back.

4.) Then I'll receive my waiver in the mail and be ready to ship?

Thanks in advance for the help with this,
Chris

Your good so far.

The test and development place will send you back a full report and that will contain if you have been approved or not to ship live reptiles.

They will fax a copy of that report over to your account rep. When you get you report back call and ask for your rep to call you and make sure they got a copy of it. Your rep will then send you over the contract(mine overnighted it to me no charge). Sign it and make a copy of that- then you need to send it back to your rep to sign. Your rep will sign it and forward a copy to everyone who needs it. Then they should send you back a copy as well with his or her name on it.

It was a bit frustrating in getting a hold of my rep at first the whole process took me 4 weeks to complete.

If you have any other questions just ask here or feel free to e-mail me directly a [email protected].

one more thing

Ship all your packages online and you will save 10% off what the normal rates are. It is free to sign up at FEDEX.COM.

I'm still not quite sure how everyone is getting around the business to business clause. If you are not sending from or to a business address, how do you slide this under their noses? Even if everything is done entirely online, it is fairly evident if a package is going to a business or not. I was all set to send out a test package, but I don't think this account would help me since almost all of my customers are at residential addresses. Thanks, Steve Tanner

It's evident that they do not really check, I have received reptiles from Fedex at my home address several times. As long as they get there money they do not care I guess.

I just spent all morning reading through all these posts - very informative.

Thanks to all who have gotten involved. This is how things change!

Can we get an FAQ for this placed somewhere? Having to sift through all of this to try and figure out what to do is daunting and prone to errors. For example, if I had just read the first post on how to do this, I would have missed many informative topics like having FedEx Test facility pay for the shippment or how to package a test shipment.

If we place one document somewhere and update that document as we learn more, we can avoid confusion - especially in the area of "he said, she said".

Again, kudos to all involved to make this a better world for everyone!

Already don't remember if it was mentioned. Do you sign up for the account with the 10% discount or the other? What's the difference?

Hmmmm. Does that mean I goofed by selecting the 10% online account?

Sure would be nice to have an FAQ.

No I don't think so, when I signed up that was not an option to me I was never told about the online account, I was told by Daniel at Scales to ship that way and save 10% on all my shipments. Sounds like you got it easier than me is all. You should be just fine, just keep records of how much they say the packages will be I have gotten quotes online with my discount then charged higher, so write thoses amounts down, they did fix it for me though no problem.

Can someone who has recently signed up with FedEx tell me how long the entire process from submitting the test box to getting approval took.

Thanks!

Contract

I was wondering if someone could send me a copy of the contract i would kinda like to see one. Plus if Fedex tell me there isn't one i can tell them i've already seen it. I would really appreciate it.

Can someone tell me if there is an official name for the contract that FedEx had you sign?

I completed the box testing, and my rep called to say I could start shipping right away. I asked about signing a contract and he said it wasn't necessary....just don't want to get into trouble later. Has anyone gone through this and NOT had to sign a contract?

The waiver

The official name on the waiver is called, "waiver of liability for reptile and amphibian domestic shipments". This needs to be signed by you and your account rep then needs to send it to the legal department (Mr. Brown). After that you should be good to ship.
Have your rep contact Mr. Brown...he will educate her on what is needed.
Hope that helps:)
