    =====================

I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

Steps To Become Fedex Certified!!!

FedEx Waiver

I just received my waiver. Did anyone happen to notice item J?
"Company acknowledges that all shipments tendered to FedEx under this agreement are for Business to Business delivery only. No resdential deliveries are allowed under this agreement."

FedEx again

Well I dug further back and found more info in here.

I've not received my waiver yet (Very helpful man on the phone is not nearly as helpful in reality, said he would e-mail it last Thursday) I've been worried about that cluase though. What did you find out? The calling everyone a home based business thing, or is their something more I missed?
Thanks

I copied this previous post here

I copied this from previous post, any updates would be great. My local rep seems to think home based businesses are acceptable. I would be nice to have this clause removed.

"OK, I just got the signed contract faxed back to me a few minutes ago. I talked to Bill Zindell and mentioned about my belief that shipping to home based businesses would suffice for the letter of the contract, and he concurred. He feels, and James Brown verified this, that they want that assurance that someone will be available to accept the package upon delivery.

I am setting up my shipping schedule for Monday.

If anyone has not noted an earlier post by me in the other shipping thread, please note that the official word I have gotten is that because of the merger with DHL and Airborne, Airborne Express says they will no longer accept ANY live animal shipments. Don't get caught flat footed. Start your paperwork with FedEx NOW, if you haven't done so already.

And PLEASE, try to stress to your customers that if there are any snafus in this shipping process to NOT get into FedEx's face about it. The last thing we need is a few highstrung customers blowing this whole deal for us. You may even want to suggest that all contact with FedEx be through YOU so you can be a bit more diplomatic about the problem resolution."

Thanks Robert, Thats what I thought you were refering too, but I was hoping I had missed some update that could get that clause deleted. Oh well, hope springs eternal right? :D

For others~ If you don't get any responses this week on your paperwork, thats cuz James Brown is on vacation. My local Rep (he does seem to be a very nice and helpful guy) called me today to let me know I had not been forgotten, and my paperwork would go through as soon as Mr. Brown got back. I was glad he called me before I had to call him, I hate it when I have to play the pain in the rear to get something done.

Fedex account

Just wanted to get some feedback on the fedex waiver to ship reptiles.

I have 2 problems with it.

1) Company agrees to waive any right to recieve adjustments, refunds or credits under the money back guarantee policy as defined in the Fedex service guide.

Why would it make a difference WHAT you are shipping in regards to WHEN the shipment gets there? Isn't that what we are paying for with overnight priority service? I can understand then not wanting to accept liability for the LIVE arrival part, but not for the time it takes them to get it there.

2) Company acknowledges that all shipments tendered to Fedex under this agreement are for business to business delivery only. No residential deliveries are allowed under this agreement.

Most of our deliveries are residential, unless we claim they are being delivered to a home based business.

We are already approved shippers with Delta and UPS so don't require their service. I realize there are not a lot of shipping options so don't want to make a big stink with Fedex and weaken our position with them or spoil anothers ability to become approved. I just felt those two requirements were unacceptable. I could live the the not recieving adjustments if not arriving on time, rediculous as that is. But to require us to lie about who is receiving the shipment seems unreasonable. Did anyone else get this immpression?

Did anyone else get this immpression?

Yes. But 6 - 8 Months ago we couldn't ship anything via Fedex. In very few negotiations in business are you able to grab 100% of your demands in the first round. Personally, I am hoping that we are able to show them volume ($$) with little to no mishaps over a period of time. Then we will have leverage to go back to them with a more acceptable (to us) solution. If this doesn't work out then hopefully it will make other shippers realize the available market (competition) and that will give us more leverage to find a 100% acceptable solution.

I have made a few attempts to get an account with Fedex as far back as '94 with the same "no shipping reptiles" response, so I understand. I also agree with you 100% in regards to getting our demands met slowly as we establish a partnership.

Removing the "business to business" clause is not a demand it is a requirement to for us to legaly ship to a residence under their present agreement.

I can think of several options but none are acceptable to me except #4.

1) Conform to the aggreement and only ship to other business's. We don't need the account to ship to business's as we use Delta for that. This account was to offer door to door service to non-business customers.

2) Lie about it and say it's being shipped to a "home based business". This would require permission from the reciever to lie and claim they are a business. This would work in some cases and actualy be true but we feel it is unprofessional to ask our customer to lie about it if in fact they are simply purchasing a "pet".

3) Ship it anyway and see what happens.

4) Get Fedex to remove the business to business requirment and allow a door to door service to residences which is what we mostly use it for.

The fact that they won't honer the time arrival guarantee is simply them taking advantage of us because of the current circumstances. In regards to the time it takes to deliver what difference does it make WHAT is being shipped? As their customers we are paying them for the overnight priority service to get the shipment there by a specific time. We are counting on the time element to lesson the risk to the animals AND lesson our risk from a financial standpoint. We are already giving up ALL liability in regards to live arrival no matter what time it gets there so this is ridiculous!

Here's one senario off the top of my head. A driver has one of our boxes "out for delivery" and also has several other priority shipments that MUST be on time. With this current agreement they can now save ours for last knowing it really dosen't matter what time it gets there. This doesn't seem like an acceptable situation for the animals to be put in as well as the reciever waiting for the shipment. What do we tell our customers who are paying priority shipping prices? It Should be there by such and such a time but we can't really give you a time as Fedex is under no obligation to get it there?

I just see these issues as more reasons for shippers to continue to ship illegally in unmarked boxes and take their chances of not being caught. I hope with time these two issues can be rectified, but under these current conditions I am not willing to sign their waiver.

Yes, thats it. Your getting an error from the link because the poster accidently included a comma at the end of the URL. If you remove the comma, it takes you to the fed-ex main page, and then you can link to that form you found on your own.

Good Luck!

I spoke with the rep at 1-800-GOFEDEX and he didn't seem to know what I was talking about according to shipping a test package, and when I told him I wanted to ship live harmless reptiles he thought I was out of my mind.

Well, I have my supplies ready for shipping (Thanks Scales), my paperwork for the test package all filled out and ready to go, and I have made the phone calls to try to find out if there is anything else I need to do beyond sending the package in.

One thing I have had problems with is that I can't seem to get in touch with anyone that knows anything about this waiver. I've talked to reps and their bosses, and almost every single person I catch on the phone is friendly, but certain that I must have imagined that Fed Ex would even consider shipping live/harmless reptiles.

Anyhow, I was just hoping to send the package in regardless, but I have also run into a wall with trying to figure out whether I am going to be charged or not to send out the test package. I have been told that I would not have to pay anything to have the package shipped to their test facility if I just walk the package in at the local hub and tell them I need it tested, but then I was also told by someone else that I would need to cover the costs of the services rendered. Which is the correct answer in your experiences?

Also, I noticed on the packaging services application that they ask you to describe what products you are shipping. Obviously the package would be put together different if I were shipping a baby Crested gecko, then if I were shipping an adult python. Do I need to ship more than one package showing the few variations in shipping set-ups (i.e. box size, bag versus deli cup, heat packs versus cold packs, etc.)?

While I am writing this, it is crossing my mind that these questions might have obvious answers, but I am worried about doing this the right way. Thanks in advance for any feedback that anyone can provide,

Most people were getting Fedex to pick up the charges on having the box shipped to the fedex test facility. Some of us just picked up the charges without asking (DOH!!!).

I would put one deli cup in there with a post it note inside stating "This is a live harmless lizard" and then a snake bag with a post it note "This is a live harmless snake". You might want to include a short letter explaining this and why you did it. If you email me a fax number I'll fax you over a copy of our waiver and you can show that to the reps.

My representative originally told me that there was no such waiver, and I needed to call the animal desk. They told me the same thing, they didn't ship live reptiles under any circumstances. I told them I knew better, because I had seen a waiver. This resulted in a telephone call to James Brown in legal. He said that the representative had better learn the process for doing this fast, if he wasn't familiar with it. He then proceeded to tell me that he would contact the representative, who would contact me. This was 3 weeks ago, and since, I have left 2 telephone messages on the representative's voice-mail. I will try again on Monday, and if I don't get any response, I will be calling James Brown again.
I don't know how a national company can be run so half-a**ed and still stay in business. Nobody in the company is familiar with any of their own company's regulations, and calls don't get returned. I'm just glad that I don't have to rely on this slip-shod company to make a living.
In short, I am thoroughly disgusted with this whole process.

First of all, thanks for the help- I really appreciate it.

Most people were getting Fedex to pick up the charges on having the box shipped to the fedex test facility. Some of us just picked up the charges without asking (DOH!!!).

Was there a specific way to get the billing information for Fed Ex to cover shipping? I asked several reps and they told me to just send the box in and that it would automatically be covered.. but that is obviously not the case. I told them that I was aware that others having boxes tested were given billing information so that there would be no problems with Fed Ex picking up the tab and it seemed just like another procedure that they did not know anything about.

I would put one deli cup in there with a post it note inside stating "This is a live harmless lizard" and then a snake bag with a post it note "This is a live harmless snake". You might want to include a short letter explaining this and why you did it.

That is a great idea and exactly what I am going to do.

If you email me a fax number I'll fax you over a copy of our waiver and you can show that to the reps.

Thank you so much.. I will drop you an e-mail shortly. :)

Waiting about a month now, and still keep getting the run around.

What a f%$#ing joke. Sure glad I didn't pay for my box to get shipped to them.
Is this the kind of service I can expect from them? NO thanks.

Sure glad I am verified from Delta and Continental, because this is a real big joke.

Has anyone actually been verified by Fed X and actually shipped yet?

I sent my test box last Thursday, on Fed Ex's dime too...:D Got my waiver today, all good to go. Good job Brian.

fedex

So how are all of you going to get aroud "J" on the contract not shipping to a residential address? They said if I did my packages would be returned and my contract void. SEE fedex reptile contract questions listed here as well, thanks.
