    =====================

    I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

    So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

    But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

    Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

    I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
    Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

    And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. Steps To Become Fedex Certified!!!

I am shipping out my first snake next week. So I am hoping it warms up a few degrees. I am nervous since it is my first shipment. Wish me luck!

I got by supplies at ship your reptiles and the package deal boxes come with heat packs.If its at least 40 degrees ill use a heat pack and send my first out to.

When you send in the bx for inspection does ot have to be the exact soze you plan on shipping? Or can you scale it down a couple sizes?

You can use a small box if you want. It's not the box size they inspect, it's the way it's packaged they're worried about.

This can take anywhere between a few hours to 48 hours. While you are waiting you can go to http://fedex.com/us/services/express/packaging/tips.html, scroll down towards the bottom and click on a link that says 'complete this form' under the heading "Packaging Testing or Evaluation". This is the form you will have to print and fill out to send with your package.
!/QUOTE]

Has anyone tried the above link lately? It no longer works. Did the form get moved to another location?

Ok, I know this thread is old, and things have changed a few times-I really don't have time to read through 50 pages of responses.

I have signed up for my FedEx account. I have a link for the form to apply for package testing. What do I do next? Do I call FedEx and tell them I need to speak with my rep? Do I fill out the form and email it to FedEx? I want to make sure I get everything right the first time.

I sent my package away for testing last week. My rep. gave me a number to call to get the acct.# so I wouldn't have to pay to ship the test package and I was then told that "that information is outdated. We now require you to pay your own shipping for the test package."

Everything else went as expected.

I was trying to get this process started yesterday and just got the run around the whole time. Until the last minute when it was to late to go any further with the process because operating hours. It was driving me up the wall.... The first place I go into I had everything with me the fedex shipping box with insulation, a heat pack I think 40hr and tape and Harmless Reptiles Shipment label and so forth, my account number with me and everything. Th man i spoke to had no idea what I was talking about at all. I mean this guy looked so lost and didn't know what to tell me to help me out with my questions or concerns. He said he had not heard anything about a test package application. So I had to show him on the fedex website where that application was. It was absolutely ridiculous. So i left there without any help what so ever.....I did ask him where I could possibly go to get answers and he told me somewhere on the west side bloomington,iN there was an express fedex office. So I went riding around looking for that location. I ended up going home, getting directions, luckily instead of all the way across town the like the first place was this one was just 3 min down the road off a side road. Found it, went in again with my stuff I had with me and at least these two people had knowledge that they did ship reptiles and at least one of them knew that you had to get certified before starting ship yr reptiles. So they guy who actually is the one that said I didn't have to do anything that I could just start shipping them was corrected by the lady there that said no she thought there was something that had to be done first and so she had him call the sales rep number to get me the correct number for me to call and get a hold of the right person. By the time I did this I was exausted and it was after 5pm and I could not get anyone on the phone in person since operation hours are like 8-5 or 9-5 or something. So I did alot of running around and basically did not accomplish anything. I did get a few helpful tips on here though more then I did from the customer service at Fedex. Thanks to everyone who has done this a few if not many times and have gone through all the crap a time maybe two. I will start again on Monday and hope to get further with the process then I did on Friday.

The mistake was going into the store and expecting them to know what's going on. You need to do all your work by phone, and only go to a fedex location to actually ship the package. Call the general fedex number, talk to a rep., and have them get the sales department to call you. They will send you the app., then you can prepare your package and send it from the store.

Yeah, no kidding guess you can't expect people to know how to do their jobs anymore. After all that I did try calling but they had already closed. I will try again Monday.

Just to be clear, don't call the individual location, call the 1-8000-463-3339 customer service number. Tell them the situation, give them your account number and they should have the sales office give you a call. They called me either the day of or the next day.

I shipped years ago but cannot remember details

I went through all the necessary steps years ago and became certified to ship. I actually shipped a package and it arrived in perfect condition when it should have. My question is: Is there a safe fedex location to drop off for shipment or do you have to always depend on fedex to pick up at your home?

I know most, if not all FedEx locations allow you to drop off your shipment. You will obviously want to drop it of as late as possible so it isn't sitting, waiting to be shipped for too long.
I would just call the location you plan on dropping off at and ask them about the details. It really sucks to "find something out" the day of shipment.
Call them, get the details, next time you ship something...double check the details again! I like to figure out things like what is the latest you can drop off a package, what the average temp will be in the room the package will be sitting in waiting for shipment, and anything else that might effect the animal.
Many times in the summer, my local FedEx has put the box in a more air conditioned office until shipment so SOME locations will work with you.

Good luck!

Thanks guys! It's incredible that the reptile industry has made it this far! Keep up the good work and weed out the few bad apples that are left!

Ive always had reptiles but im just now getting into reptiles as a business and I appreciate all the info here. Thanks everyone

if i am moving my corn snake from Alaska to South Carolina, is it safe to send him now? the temp fluctuates from anywhere from 0-40, usually stays around 20 degrees or so. can he still be shipped safely? and how much does this cost to do?
