    I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

    So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

    But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

    Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

    I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Please take your discussion concerning Portuguese to email or PM. I don't see any reason for off topic posting to be keeping it on the radar screen.

The obvious meaning of your words? You think it's rather witty to compare someone you're having a difference of opinion with to a regime that murdered millions. If you don't see the problem with that, then you need to bone up on your history. Apparently, the murder of millions is trivial to you since you place it on par with moderating a forum. Face it Chris, you made a bad call. Rather than man up to it, though, you opted to hit me with negative rep points. You're quite the class act.

Preferential treatment? Sure. After all, we've kept you around despite your being a jackass as of late. Normally, someone who whines about their warning points, demanding that they be rescinded, and takes an overtly antagonistic tone with myself, Rich, and Jay is shown the door. Yet, for some reason, you're still around. I wonder why that is?

Ive tried to not post on this since my 1st post but I really think its time.

I think that everyone is a little too upset, alot is going on, Kelli lost her son, we are all trying to help her and NO amount of help will ever compare to the pain she is going through right now and will continue to go through for the rest of her life.

Mike's mom is very ill, in a coma and we are all worried about her as well, nothing we can even do.

All we can do right now is keep these families in our prayers and as a FAMILY I think we pull through really well.

When one of us needs moral support, a pat on the back and in tragic event of family needs, its there, not by single messages but by volumnes that are so helping in our time of need.

It seems that this thread happened when everyone is really way to upset to respond properly.

Lucille posted an off topic message due to Robins non-english rep points.

I have been very proud to call all of you my friends and I respect all of your opinions but as A TON of other members have posted, there is a lot more to worry about right now than an off topic post, regardless of who it came from.

I jsut really do not see where this is a high priority on any of my current list of what matter to me right now since I am very concerned for Kelli and her family and Mike and his family and my family.

Sometimes things hit you in the face like a rock and make you realize that everything you thought mattered at that very moment was nothing compared to the reality of what is really happening in this world.

If the worst thing that Lucille does is post off topic, damn she did good!

If the worst thing that Robin ever does is give neg rep points in a foreign language, then damn she did good too!

People are people and they are not perfect and most given the chance would take back a lot of things they have and done, I hope that does not wind up being the case with these post since they are here for the long term.

So my vote is to go back to the family of fauna that I thought we had and try to do some more good and stop arguing about all of this little stuff.

Regardless of your opinion on the matter, please do as I have asked. The "feces" you refer to actually is on topic since much of this thread is related to my handling of this situation and the disagreement from others over it.

I would like to suggest that you leave The Hammack Fund open. If there is not a need for the Fauna Fund anymore my suggestion and it’s just a suggestion, rename the forum and leave it as a permanent place to help members in time of need. I am sure many members here would gladly help take care of such a forum.
 
and once again, and to my relief, fauna proves to be a real family, pulling together and forgetting our differences in a time of need.
