that's right Neil because you have never seen me. I have given away lots of the offspring I produce to friends and their children. I also volunteer 100's of hours each year at my local schools to do talks with my animals. I am not in it for the money. The money I make helps me to care for all of the animals that I have and that's all I care about. I never make a profit, but I enjoy seeing others enjoy my animals. I guess everyone got under your skin. lol Talk about a tirade. Maybe the truth makes you a little defensive because you know everyone knows just how you are. As for the professor buying $900.00 worth of stuff from you. ROTFL,

Sal is far from a puppy.... I do believe that if any dog consistently attacks a human that dog will be put to sleep. How many humans have been financially attacked by Sal?
Just to add one for your memory... Their was also the Burmese Python that arrived regurging the rabbit you fed it the night before shipping, and a good guy post about you replacing a dead snake you sent... Just off the top of my head.

Neil speaking for the "grace of God"

First there is a difference like tom said between that cute puppy pooping on the floor or chewing stuff up... that cute puppy can be taught right from wrong and know that if it does something wrong there are consequences to be paid for it so he learns what is RIGHT to do... Sal on the other hand is like that dog that wonders in your yard in the middle of the night and tips over your trash can ,...... he knows its wrong to do it and that he shouldnt do it but yet he does it in the dark so he cant be held accountable for doing and thats plain and simple .So lets not compare a repeated KNOWN thief to a cute loveable puppy ... the puppy deserves better Sal doesnt. How many times has Sal "changed gis ways to only fall back to what he knows best ????
Sal has had alot of time to change his ways and has proven he cant / or hasent choose to its real easy to do Neil if you do things right to start with then there is nothing to change.

As for the name dropping of a harvard professor YAA neil you sold something to some one smarter then you for once huh ??

Wow Neil, you couldn't be more wrong on that. Yes, there are people that are in this strictly for the money, true. But the majority of us are in it because of the passion we have for these animals. We do it because we love it, we are driven not because of the money we will make on the next big sale but because of the rush we get from the eggs we hatch or the babies we get to watch being born. I think only a small percentage of us really make a decent living off our herps. In my case, my husband has a career, he works as a zookeeper in a herpetarium (surprise, surprise), do you think he does this for the huge amount of money he makes doing it? Haha, hardly, he works with animals because he loves it, and because it is what he feels he was brought onto this earth to do. Same reason most of us hobbiests do what we do. I know that I could go get a minimum wage paying full time job and bring home more than I bring home every year from breeding my geckos. While the amount of sales may be very high, the actual profit is not because of the huge expense that goes into caring for them properly.

You seem to me to be one of the ones that is very obviously into this for the money, and I kinda feel sorry for those that you have fooled into thinking you are an honest guy. You have just been caught in too many untruths here to fool most of us. I hate saying things like this here because it is negative, and i dislike negativity. Ah well, it is the truth, painful though it may be. :no01:

I think a lot of you are missing a very important point. Your arguments are based upon a system of principles. If you do not have the comprehension of that basic system of principles then they you will never be able to understand any actions or logical argument based on those principles. For example, if a person has no comprehension of "blue", then you could tell them the sky is blue and they'd not understand the point no matter how long you argue about it.

On another note. I was discussing the reptile market with a friend a few days ago. He made the valid point that it is hard to compete financially in a trade where the participants would perform the work for no return even if the market was completely saturated. Granted most would scale things back, but a fair amount of what's produced is done just for the excitement of producing it.

With regards to some of the things expressed before in this thread, yes, it is possible for people to change. But those that are in it mainly for the money will more than likely not be able to do so. Why? Because all their decisions are clouded and based precisely on finding a way to increase the margin they get from each sale. The more money they make, the more money they want to make, and thus the more elaborate their scheme has to become to inflate the price of their animals. This might include selling grade B animals, putting a high price tag on animals that are not what they are supposed to be, or even sell animals for third parties without first hand knowledge of how those animals are doing.

I don't think it's quite as utopian as that. There is plenty of money to be made in this industry. There are ethical and business smart ways to do this (I don't believe they are incompatible with each other). I didn't want my post to seem disengenious as most that know me, realize I am business oriented. I just feel that the previous statement that "no one does this just for fun" was in error as there are plenty of people that do just that.

My point is that the interest for reptiles has to grow in you before the business side of it. There are individuals that with the growth of the herp trade have seen the dollar sign, and jumped into it, before going through all the previous steps (collecting your first herp, keeping a garter, etc.). What greater return in their investment than buying an herp for $100, and sell it for $200 after keeping it for one week? What other business will give you a 100% return in your investment in one week? Better yet, what if you don't even have to risk any money. Just take a picture of an animal you don't own, write a few rosy statements from second hand information (or maybe even make it up), post it, and add a hefty margin on top of that? Does it get better than that from a money-making scheme?

From my perspective there is nothing wrong with doing this as a business. But I prefer those who know what they are talking about when dealing with herps. Experience is not something you gain by reading in books or talking with other people at shows. The process is read, apply the knowledge through experience, and only then you have probably learned something. Some people have become experts way too fast.

There are many breeders that do in fact do this for the love of the animals. There are many breeders that do in fact give away animals for nothing. I have given animals to friends that could not afford them, I have given animals to customers as an added bonus for a surprise and I am by far not the only one that has done it. Just because you would never think of doing something such as that because you care only about the money that comes from the animals, does not mean that no one else would do it.

There is nothing you will ever be able to do or say that will change the truth about Sal. He has a proven track record that he is a liar, thief, con-man, and overall bad guy. He reinforced his past by trying to pull the wool over everyone's eyes (once again) and start the same BS here in Florida. I take offense that he would feel it is ok to come to the state in which I live and love to start yet another one of his scam's. If he truly wanted to start over and get a fresh beginning here in Florida he would have done it honestly. Now the only reason he has opened up and made anything public is because he was found out and exposed publicly and is now afraid of the repercussions that will fall upon him within this state. ANYONE that supports him, helps him, and covers up for him is no better than he is and is actually party to the dishonest behavior. In case you did not know what you are doing is called "Aiding & Abetting" a criminal, and is a crime itself. It is a true shame that you would continue to allow this type of behavior to go on and actually encourage it. YES I said encourage. By you hiding his identity in regards to Boca Reptiles and his location to those that needed to get in touch with him on his past rip offs is encouraging him to continue his criminal ways. It is also sad that you are Blinded by your "friendship" with him to see the truth about him and his actions and how it is going to affect you in the long run. And yes everyone makes mistakes sometime, but the smart ones learn from their mistakes and move on. Now the ones that keep doing the same thing over and over again are not making mistakes, those are deliberate actions and the people doing them are criminals and scum.

Only Problem Is...

That apology covers absolutely no one since it refers to anyone he "unintentionally wronged in the past." The key word here is unintentionally. Every person that was ripped off was very much done so intentionally.

After asking you about it's eating habits several times you finally said that it was eating RAT PINK HEADS. Very similar to pruett..........

Then there was the imported/longterm captive Uromastix. The one you said was fat as a pig and yet had it's backbone touching it's belly. The one that DIED the day after it arrived AS A REPLACEMENT FOR THE ROSY BOA THAT YOU LIED ABOUT THAT ALSO DIED.

I think that sums up those two little lies of yours gubitz.

Now, are you going to continue to harbor a known criminal? Are you going to continue aiding and abetting his criminal doings? I'd still like to see the permission you and you alone have gotten to run someone elses business transactions through your terminal. I would REALLY like to see that. Or was it yet another lie gubitz?

Just for the record.... As much as I distain how Sal has been handling his business practices.... this has NOTHING to do with Alison.... just before Christmas, Alison LEFT Sal and went to live with her parents in Arizona (she's there now)....

Alison KNOWS how to take care of business.... there is NO connection (now) to her business dealings and Sal's.... please don't get them confused if you ever see Alison advertising for web design.... she would never screw you over....

Alison IS in Arizona, and she DID leave Sal (for good).... she is one of the nicest and most honest women I know.... it's just a total shame she had to be incorporated into Sal's LOUSY business practices....

I'm not going to refute the fact that Sal is one of the WORST businessmen I've ever seen....
