    =====================

I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

Just wanted to post this thread about Rodentpro.com since i can never seem to have a BAD deal with these guys. They are ALWAYS helpful and informative. Recently, i purchased 75 weanlings and 60 small rats. I originally paid with one of my CC's but the transaction didnt go through, so instead i sent them a paypal payment. Well apparently with the first order, they used my rodentpro acct address which was old and outdated. So Rodentpro sent the order to that address(which was weird, because my paypal shipping address is my home address). This made it so i could not retreive my order, which was over 160 dollars. I spoke to Casey at Rodentpro and after some discussion they sent me out a brand new order!!

Thanks Rodentpro.com

I feel the same way ..we purchase all our feeders from RodentPro. Never get a bad shipment and all animals are supurbly clean. Although...I have gotten the occasional hal pinky...the problem with that is, what end do you feed the snake first. Heads or Tails?... www.ROdentPro.com A++++++++

Jay

I'd have to disagree. I got a bunch of rat pinkies and fuzzies back in October and 90% of them have quite a bit of bedding on them. It's a real pain in the butt to have to rinse them off before feeding them to the snakes.

I'm due for another order and I'll be using Big Cheese or The Mouse Factory.

Out of the tons of orders i have placed with Rodentpro.com i've never encountered the bedding issue. It's possible that it was just a minor mistake by one of the packagers. I can almost guarantee you won't see something like that again. Also, fuzzies and pinkies are bedding magnets. If you pick up pups out of the tub, you'll hardly get any bedding, but you pick up a handful of pinkies and your getting a decent handful of bedding at the same time lol. Sticks to em like flies on, well, you know LoL

Also, was there any problem with the actual QUALITY of the rodents? Sounds like your just upset about a seriously petty issue (IMO). When i thaw my rats out, if there's anything stuck to them (usually small bits of feces), it washes off in the water. Then again i thaw my rats out in 12 qt sterilite tubs filled with hot or warm water. No bags, just rats and water. Dont know how you thaw yours out, it might be harder to accomplish the cleaning process if you use a bag at the same time.

How is this for a petty issue. I sold 2 clutches of albino and het Burmese pythons to Kevin in trade for a trio of adult Green Tree Pythons and never recieved anything for my animals. The trade value at the time was $1425 for the 3 adult chondros and Kevin told me he was not going to give me anything. He called me up about 6 months after he was supposed to get the chondros for me and said he would go ahead and get them. He felt it was not right of him to rip me off and he would let me know when he got them. I have never heard from him since other than seeing him in public. I would not do business with him again.......and we were supposed to be friends. There are plenty of great rodent breeders out there. Pick your poison.

I'm not impressed with Rodent Pro's product.

I now use Big Cheese Rodent Factory for all my frozen feeders.

They ship very clean, intact feeders - vacuum packed on styrofoam trays.

Like everything its a matter of personal preference.

I ordered from RP for a while. Their quality went downhill severely. Rodents with heads broken off, covered in feces and urine and generally disgusting looking. Aside from that you need to have order practically 2 weeks in advance. Ridiculous. Seems that some get good orders and some don't due to them buying stock from multiple breeders. I have stopped ordering from them and have been thrilled with Big Cheese. I just now placed an order with American Rodent to check out the quality. Brian did such a great job getting me my new rack that I wanted to see how he does with feeders.

HerpLuver, just because you have had a sterling relationship with RodentPro doesn't mean you should downplay other people's concerns. If someone had a problem with bedding in an order, that is valid. Yes, it might be a one-time thing, but maybe not. I'm glad you had your very good experiences.

I personally placed a few orders with RodentPro, but when I had to place my last order, they were out of stock of all the sizes of rodents I needed, and stayed out of stock for a month, so I wound up going with American Rodent supply instead. The rodents I got from my other orders with RodentPro were clean (a few poops here and there, a shaving or two here and there as well, but nothing huge) and well packed.

Lauren, i wasnt trying to downplay his concerns. But in my opinion, cleaning a little bedding off isnt going to kill me, im not THAT lazy LoL. Like everyone's said, its your opinion to choose who you want to use. I can see that in the size rats that im currently handling and needing for my babies, Big cheese is a bit cheaper, question is, how are they with pricing there shipping?

Brandon, Who's Kevin? Does he own rodentpro? I've only ever spoken to Casey from Rodentpro.com. Thats why im confused as to what your talking about?

Big Cheese is extemely comparable on shipping with RP. Also with BC you can get Greyhound shipping for even cheaper if you live near a terminal.

I use the Greyhound option which thus far has worked well and is more economical - especially with large orders.

Seriously petty issue? 90% of rodents have too much bedding on them to be fed to my snakes right out of the bag. I do not thaw my rodents directly in water. I thaw then in a ziploc bag and then put that bag into water. I choose not to let my snakes eat bedding and feces covered rodents, which is why I will be ordering from Big Cheese this time.

If you can honestly look at these pictures and say you'd feed those rodents as is to your snakes, then fine. I cannot. Btw, when thawed, the bellies of the rat pups and fuzzies are black. The rat pups and weans I got are fine, but the fuzzies and pinks are disgusting.

Typical poor quality RP batch. From what I'm told, they buy up all the crap from local breeders. Those look disgusting and I would have sent them back.

Im not trying to get into a battle with you Joe. Like i had said in my other post, i didnt know if you thawed your rodents directly in water or in a bag.

Dont know how you thaw yours out, it might be harder to accomplish the cleaning process if you use a bag at the same time.

Right there i mentioned that if you did use a bag, it would be harder to accomplish what i do when i thaw my rodent's.

Anywho, that looks rediculous thats for sure. I've never seen that before with my orders, but would definitely be complaining to SOMEONE. Im the kinda person if im not satisfied, someone's getting a new hole ripped in them somewhere in there lower region via telephone!

No battle at all. It's not worth my time complaining to RP about the order, because all they would do is send out another just as crappy order. I got some mice pinks from Rich a month or so ago (not sure where he got his from) and there was not one feces or piece of bedding in either of the two packages.

If I felt like it, I could empty the same RP bag into that same cleaned out ziploc container and take another picture, and it would look identical. While it's not a huge inconvenience to clean off the rodents prior to feeding, I didn't pay for feces and bedding with my rodents. Sending a package out with that much 'crap' in it is just a simple acknowledgement that you are lazy.

Either way, I just won't use RP again and will spend the extra $$ on Big Cheese or somewhere else.

For the sake of updating, I just sent RP an email discussing my order and the 'quality' of their rodents. I'm curious to see what their response is. When/if I get one, I will post it here.

Thanks Joe, I was just about to place an order w/ them since they are having another sale. After seeing your pictures, now I am not so sure I want to do that!
