    =====================

I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

Well here we go, I promised I'd post an update when I got an email back from them, so here it is:

Subject: Order Complaint

Hello. I made a small order(500 rodents) back in the end of October.
When I got the order I was pleased with the quality of the rat pups and
weanlings, but wasn't overly thrilled with the quality of the rat pinks
and rat fuzzies. But I figured that due to shipping and being knocked
around it was only expected that many appendages would break off and
it's not ultimately a problem. I certainly was not pleased with the
amount of bedding in the bags and stuck to the rats, but made due with
it.

Recently I ran out of mouse pinkies and acquired a large number of
hatchlings, and picked up 100 large pinkies from Rich Zuchowski as I'm
a customer and we live in the same town. I'm not sure where he got his
pinkies from, but it was either Big Cheese or Cajun Mice. After
comparing the two products, I was very disappointed in what I ordered.
There was not ONE piece of bedding in the pair of bags (50 each,
vacuumed sealed) and minimal (less than 10 broken off legs/arms in
total) damage to the apendages of the pinkies. Compared to your
rodents, this was like night and day.

Here are some pictures showing exactly what I am talking about, as far
as the bedding issue.

There was a recent thread on FaunaClassifieds where someone said they
had gotten a great order from you, and I posted my experience. Many
were horrifed at the quality and suggested that I send you an email.
They insisted that this is not normal quality from Rodent Pro. I will
be honest, I was warned of this when I made my order and many tried to
sway me to Big Cheese, but I decided to give you guys a try. I have to
say, for the future I will be choosing Big Cheese or The Mouse Factory,
as I have never once seen a quality complaint on Fauna or
Cornsnakes.com regarding these two companies. I understand you guys
ship out tons of orders, but to have this much bedding in with rodents
is simply unacceptable. I should not have to rinse off the rodents
prior to feeding or sit there and hand pick pieces of bedding off in
fear that my snakes will become impacted on a piece of bedding. I paid
for quality rodents that I could feed to my snake, not bedding crusted
pinkies and fuzzies.

Quite honestly I am not looking for any refund or a reshipment of
anything I ordered, especially considering that I am emailing you 6
months later. However, I did want to bring this to your attention so
that you may look into this problem and rectify this in the future for
your customers.

HELLO JOSEPH AND THANK YOU FOR YOUR EMAIL EXPLAINING TO ME ABOUT THE BAD
EXPERIENCE YOU HAD WITH MY COMPANY. WERE THESE PHOTOS TAKEN WHEN YOU
RECEIVED THE PRODUCT OR AT SOME TIME AFTER YOU RECEIVED THE PRODUCT? THE
REASON I ASK IS BECAUSE OF THE AMOUNT OF FREEZER BURN ON THE RAT PINKS.IF
THE PHOTOS WERE TAKEN WHEN YOU RECEIVED THE PRODUCT THE FREEZER BURN WAS
PROBABLY CAUSED BY THE DRY ICE. THE BROKEN PIECES WERE THE RESULT OF THE DRY
ICE CAUSING THE PRODUCT TO BECOME SO BRITTLE THAT SOMETIMES IF THE BOX IS
HANDLED ROUGHLY BY THE COURIER IT CAN CAUSE THE RODENTS TO ACTUALLY CRACK.
WE HAVE A %100 SATISFACTION GUARANTEE ON ALL ORDERS AND ANY TIME YOU HAVE A
PROBLEM, ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS CONTACT ME AND IT WILL BE TAKEN CARE OF, NO
QUESTIONS ASKED. I HAVE ALREADY DONE A COMPLETE REFUND TO YOUR CARD FOR
$242.07 WHICH WAS THE TOTAL AMOUNT FOR ALL OF THE PRODUCT YOU ORDERED
INCLUDING SHIPPING. ONCE AGAIN I APOLOGIZE FOR YOUR BAD EXPERIENCE AND HOPE
THAT YOU WOULD CONSIDER GIVING US THE OPPORTUNITY TO SERVE YOU AGAIN IN THE
FUTURE. KEVIN BRYANT.

I am pretty surprised that Kevin responded himself and that you were given a full refund so long after the order. Its unfortunate but they consistently blame the freezer burn on the dry ice and the cracking off of appendages on either the dry ice or rough shipment. I have received multiple orders from Big Cheese with not a single appendage missing or ANY freezer burn. When I complained to them (on 2 different orders), I got an email back from Casey who made excuses and offered to replace only the ones that had missing heads and in the other case, replaced a bag of rats that was covered in feces and urine. Glad you got somewhere though! In my opinion, it is worth the couple extra cents per rodent to go with a quality company that produces their own rodents and takes quality in the packing and shipping.

I'm baffled myself. I specifically said I didn't want a refund or reshipment, and didn't expect it. I'll order with The Mouse Factory this time and we shall see what the rodents look like. I'm sure they won't be freezer burned and or missing legs, or covered in bedding and crap.

I do however find it 'interesting' that he chose to address the freezer burn issue, when that wasn't something I complained about in my original email. No mention of the bedding or crap stuck to the mice.

I can understand his concern over losing a customer that spends $250 on an order. It may not be a lot, but that is enough to cause some concern. It was very very polite and a very upstanding choice to refund you. Kevin cares about his customers. Of course a well written complaint makes a big difference also.

I breed my own rodents, but when I have had to buy frozen from a friend of mine, I have never seen broken pieces left after thawing them out. There were no black bellies or freezer burn and I have never seen a single piece of bedding in the bag.

That must be a real big issued for Rodent Pro. I would think an alternative is to start using frozen shipping packs instead of dry ice. I know dry ice is good for keeping products frozen, but if it ruins the product, they need to find another alternative. Even a new way of packing the product with dry ice needs to be considered.

Well, you know i didnt include this in my original email, because it was part of the "discussion" process. But would you believe that Casey asked me to front HALF of a NEW order due(in my words) to there systems lack of accuracy in having my order shipped to the right place?

I hadnt mentioned it because it wasnt a really big deal, i explained to Casey that the shipment of the rodents to the wrong address had absolutely NOTHING to do with a mistake from MY end. After apparent deliberation with Kevin, Casey called me back stating they would be shipping me a new order.

BTW it was Kevin who said he didnt want to foot the whole $163 and some change for the mix up.

That was pretty nice of them to refund you after so long, but my money is still going to big cheese next time.

I agree, and I wasn't expecting the full refund. It hasn't showed up on my online CC statement, but I expect that to change on Monday. Either way, I'll be placing an order with TMF in about an hour and a half before I leave for work. I'm sure at some point I'll try to give RP another chance. I guess that depends on what I get from TMF. My snakes haven't exactly done a lot of growing here on RP product, so if that changes when I siwtch to TMF it'll be very hard to switch back.

Quite understandable, i want the best for my animals too. If i see a big change in growth or just overall health, i'll never go back of course.

I've never placed an order with Rodent Pro, so I really can't comment on their quality or lack thereof. I can say that it really amazes me the amount of time it takes them to fill an order.....I called Chad at Big Cheese on this past Wednesday to place an order, figuring being this close to a holiday weekend, he wouldn't even ship til Monday. He said, "No problem, I'll ship these yet TODAY", and they were here Friday. It wasn't a huge order, but not exactly small....500 mice of various sizes. And I have yet to ever see a problem with broken up rodents, and Big Cheese uses dry ice just like RP....and the rodents are all clean.

As for rats, I don't have to order them online anymore, I just pick em up at Bill and Amy's, lol. Bill has some of the fattest, healthiest looking rats I've ever seen!

These are weaned rats from my last order with Big Cheese. They are huge, with clean soft fur and they come apart easily with no loss of appendages. The proof is in the pudding (or in this case the rats). You can bet that you will never see this quality of feeder in top notch packaging from Rodent Pro.

consistent quality from Big Cheese

yup, I can say the same about every order I've ever gotten from Big Cheese.

What about South Florida Rodents

I was searching around on another forum and came across some post on a company called Lazy S Rodent Farm also know as South Florida Rodents. There were a lot of good things said about their Prices and Quality. I was thinking of ordering from them. Has anyone else ever tried them.

I will let you know what I find out.

Wrong place for that

Your post is best started as an Inquiry in the BOI, not as a threadjack of Rodent Pro. I'd try posting a new thread and you will probably get some feedback.

George,

You need to back up that accusation with facts. Don't introduce something like this without posting something substantial behind it.

Now that this is posted, show some facts so its not libel. If you can prove it then I'm sure their customer base wants to know.

Otherwise you are just trolling or worse.

I've done a bit of research, and it seems we have nothing more than a competitor looking to libel their competition. Pay special attention to the email address:

Lo and behold, guess what email is associated with the "abacojack" account?

I ordered twice from RodentPro and both times it was not a good experience. I had major issues with the sizing of rodents and with them being not frozen when they arrived. The first time I ordered a bag of fuzzies that contained pinkies all the way up to adult mice. I can understand maybe a couple of smaller or larger ones making their way in, but how do you have several adult mice in a bag of fuzzies? The other issue I had is that both times the didn't use an adeqate amount of dry ice and both orders arrived half thawed; some bags were completely thawed out.

I have since taken my business to Big Cheese and couldn't be happier. They're local which is great; I call up what i need and go pick it up the next day. They even give me a couple of bricks of dry ice for free for the trip home to keep everything frozen. I'm glad that others have had a good experience with RP, but thye'll never see a dime from me again.
