    I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

    So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

    But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

    Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

    I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Hi all,

Quick question about woma ball pythons. I've read both of my books and neither of them mention this so I thought I would ask here to see if anyone knows...I did a search and can't seem to find any mention either..

I know there are NERD line and VPI line...Are there any other lines? I assume this co-dom was pulled out of Africa directly?

Do they have known neurological issues similar to spider morphs? Are some lines of woma actually crossed with spider or have they been at some point?

I dont have any experience with Womas but the nerd line has a Super form that has the most severe neuroligical problems I have ever seen in a BP. Most of them dont even hatch alive, and if they do they die rather quickly. Wish I had more info on them for you.
 
I am asking because I recently purchased a VPI line Woma male, and he is exhibiting some very strange neurological symptoms...Nothing indicative of disease, but more like a spider would act. I have a rare gem of a spider who I have only seen have a wobble twice in his life, but this Woma is really different..And he almost looks like a banded spider, which I think most Womas do, anyway. I was just wanting to know if anyone else had a similar experience before I start freaking out. :/ He was in 3 months of quarantine before I moved him to my main room and I noticed a little bit of shaky striking but nothing like what he shows now.
 
I had a woma ball and she didnt show any signs at all of a wobble or any neurological issues? Not sure if others do but mine didnt and I did take her out alot. I do have a snake with a wobble and know what to look for weird I guess
 
I guess I didn't know there were multiple lines...other than NERD's hidden gene Womas. If VPI's line is actually different, how do their super Womas fare?

My Woma has a severe wobble which started as extremely subtle (and easily overlooked) but got worse over time. My guess (and my vet's as well) is that BPs can have neurological issues like the Spiders that isn't tied to a morph in particular--it just shows up on occasion.

I don't know if anyone's done a Spider x Woma (I'd bet it's been done), but they're separate base morphs, so I don't think any Womas out there are "mixed."
 
anything that is woma X spider that I can think of would be wannabees? Obviously those are easy to distinguish from a normal woma gene. IDK?
 
It is becoming more known that womas do tend to have wobbles like spiders do...it isnt totally out there yet, but more and more people are admitting to it

I have a male woma ball that has a very slight wobble...I also had my hands on a woma lesser male that wobbled quiet a bit more...and have seen more and more woma ad's that disclose wobble like traits
 
Thanks for the responses, guys. I wonder why it's something that other people have been trying to keep quiet? I think this is important to know..Especially about the Pearl/Super form. I had no idea about all that... Wow.
 
Crazy. Everything I've read shows Woma's to be problem free, in fact, an alternative to the spider in a bumblebee resulting in no wobble. This is good to know!
 
It is crazy ...that's why I asked. I couldn't seem to find any information about issues with womas so im very thankful im not the only one. That still is so sad about the Pearl morph. :( I wonder why it happens like that.
 
I actually thought in the beginning as a newcomer, and looking at the pictures, that Womas were simply the low-white Spiders marketed under another name. ;)
 
I've owned several womas that had absolutely zero wobble and a pastel woma same thing.
I'd love to see a video of an actual wobble in a woma...

It may be like the issues with spiders..some exhibit them severely while others may never show anything in their life. Like I said, my male and his offspring are blessed with minimal issues. May be the same with womas.

Ill see if I can video Hobbes next time he is acting strangely. ..
 
Here is a video of the lesser woma male I had for a short time...his wobble was to much for me to handle, so I no longer have him. But I do have a male woma and a female lesser spider that have mild wobbles, both wobbles are pretty much identical....I don't mind mild...but this guy was trying to knock himself out

it's a short video...but this is how this boy was moving around on a normal basis...he would hit his head on all the things inside his enclosure every time he would fall backwards and try to whip himself upright, which would cause him to start to corkscrew.

Willow, that looks like what mine does. I have a vid of mine's wobble, but it's kinda crap (I need to redo it). Maybe I'll try it again tonight and get it posted.

The thing about the Woma wobble is that I can't tell whether it's a Woma thing or if people just pay more attention to Womas because they look like Spiders. This neurological problem can happen to any ball python, but do we not hear about it in non-Spider/Woma morphs because it's less common or because we expect to see it in those morphs (and/or don't expect to see it in others)?
 
I have had 2 womas....both wobbled...i have had 3 spiders....all wobbled....

All pretty obviously, and I've never had those issues with any other snakes I've come across....I know it can happen in other morphs...but I'm pretty sure the woma is a lot more like spiders then people think in the manner of wobbles

Now as for people not knowing about it or talking about it....it was the same way with spiders in the beginning....it was very hush hush to talk about the wobbles when spiders where first being worked with

Spiders how just been around longer now....so its widely accepted that they wobble...soon womas will have the same understanding

I don't know if that's an accurate assement or not..I mean obviously, any animal can have a neurological problem, but as far as spiders and womas, I think that's a very morph-specific thing. I mean, for me personally, I spend a LOT of time watching my animals, and other people's animals, and I've never seen anything remotely similar to these types of behavior/issues in any other ball python morph. And even so I think the woma wobble and spider wobbles are a little bit different. I don't really think it has anything to do with appearance or similarities, when they act like they do in that video, it's hard not to notice that no matter what the snake looks like, at least IMO.

But again, it's like this thread has shown, the severity spans the spectrum, just like in spiders. It's just a good thing to know, because honestly I had no idea.
