    =====================

    I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

    So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

    But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

    Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

    I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
    Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

    And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

So, because of a really bone head mistake on my part Suzi Miller was able to rip me off. Very sad. Here's what happened. I had two boxes to ship. One had a Red Eye Tree Frog for Suzi, and the other had to Dart Frogs for another customer. Well, stupid me, I mixed up the labels and sent the wrong frogs to them. I got a call from my regular customer early in the morning and he told me of my error. Yikes. I told him I'd take care of it. I promptly called Suzi, who answered her phone right away, and told her of the situation. She was upset and wanted her money back. No problem. I then called Fed ex and asked them to stop the shipment and send it to my other customer. They said no problem, as the box had not been delivered yet. I then credited Suzi's card back, and called my repeat customer and told him to expect the Dart Frogs in the morning, and that I would guarantee live arrival as usual. Well, the never made it. Turns out Fed ex delivered the box to Suzi anyway. I called her again, and she said she had no knowledge of a box being delivered. I called Fed ex and they assured me it had, and that they sent a driver there the next day to fetch it, but no one was home. I called Suzi back again and asked her to please check again. She then told me her son had the box, but had not opened it yet. I asked if he would please send it back to me, unopened. I just gave up on getting it to the rightful owner by now. Two more days go by with no box. I called again and talked to Suzi, on a Friday, and was assured that they would send the box back on Monday. I asked if they would please open the box and make sure the frogs were hydrated and to ship them on Monday. I gave them my account # so all they would be out was a bit of time. I thought not too much to ask. Tuesday came, no box. I tried to call, no answer. I tried to email, the yahoo account no longer exists. I even tried running the credit card, but it has a hold on it. I've called them everyday for the past week, and will continue to call everyday. I'm sure nothing will come of it, but at least it makes me feel better. Sooner or later I'm sure they will get tired of it and change phone numbers too. I of course refunded my other customers money, and since he has a huge tropical planted green house full of frogs, I just had him keep the Red Eye for the hassle I caused. I'd rather think of it there then in a cage anyway. Anyway, that's it. Don't do business with Suzi Miller. She's a thief. I know it's all my fault, but it still does not justify ripping someone off :NoNo:

Sorry to hear this KEN

Ken,

I am so sorry to hear of this experience. You are such an honest and good guy in the reptile community. I have had the pleasure of dealing with you numerous times as well as made it a point to stop by your shop when I was in the Vegas area a couple years ago to meet in person. Thanks for giving us all a heads up about this most dishonest member of the community.

Thanks

A large part of our industry is based on an honors system (considering all the out of state/country purchasing that takes place) -- It's unfortunate that so many people within are so incredibly dishonest.

Ken I am so sorry this happened to you. Is there any chance that Fedex will issue you any sort of credit since they did not reroute the box as they agreed to do?

That really sucks. She doesn't live too far from me and if you could arrange somehow for her to give me the frog, I'd be happy to take care of it and ship it back to you. Tell her all she has to do is leave it on her porch and I'll come by and pick it up and ship it. Feel free to PM me if you get in contact with her and she won't ship it herself.

After I posted this she actually returned my call and basically said how dare I call her a thief, when it is my fault for being a poor business person. She said she did not feel she had to take the time out of her busy. And just now, I mean 30 seconds ago, I got a call from her saying that she was going to set the box with the frogs outside her door and leave them there, and that it's up to me to call fed ex and have them pick it up. Sometimes you just have to wonder about some people.

Some people just seem to try and take their anger at being caught out on the most innocent. Those poor frogs. :(

Is she a member? To just leave them outside says a lot about her.Defiantly do not sell to.

Wow, so now she goes from being a simple theif to an animal abuser. Mistakes happen in all aspects of our lives what would she have done to the poor tree frog if it ever got sick and she had to actually take the time to get it vet care? (She'd prob put it on the porch!)

Sorry you got ripped and I feel real sorry for those poor darts, ppl like that dont need any animals in their so called care. :angry:

While she is not necessarily obligated to return unordered merchandise, it certainly says a lot about her as a person that she did take more of an active role in doing so, especially since these were live critters, especially since you are such a good guy.
I certainly hope subsequent readers who are sellers will choose to take a pass on doing business with anyone who would treat live critters in such a manner.

Ken,
If you don't write a book with all of your customer service shenanigans, you'll be depriving all of us! LOL

Not only a shady opportunist, but also entirely unconcerned for the animals' safety. Whether or not they're hers, her petty lack of empathy and interest in their well-being is very telling to anyone who may read this.

Wow, not only is she a thief, she's an animal abuser as well...Thanks, Ken, for the heads up on this person. If she is willing to do something like that to an animal, I'd could just imagine how she cares for the animals in her home now. Some people really disgust me.

Unreal!
First, cannot take the time to help out, with an error (esp. considering these are live critters), along with an absolute disregard for the frogs' welfare (via neglect/inactive action). Then, by her statement, compounding the problem, for the frogs, by an active abusive action (setting the box, containing the frogs, outside).
This gal sure has made it on to my "do not do business with" list.
Those poor little frogs.:(

Wow, what a terrible person. :(

I wonder if this is the same Suzi Miller who is an esthetician in California? I don't want to slander anybody, but her home address is less than 10 miles from the address listed on her website. If this is the same person, she might have a Google Alert set for her name, which would notify her of this thread if she is not a Fauna member. It could be a total coincidence, so I don't want to put in her website address.

Given her attitude, I wouldn't be surprised if the frogs are already dead. Hopefully I'm wrong, but I doubt very much she has even bothered to open the box.

As sad as it is, I happen to agree with you. A woman who would dodge your calls & Fed-Ex, definitely would not bother herself to open a package & check on the frogs.

Of course, the other possibility is that she has opened the box & sold the frogs. :angry:
