    =====================

I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

I just got delivery of a gorgeous pair of CAPTIVE BORN Mangrove Monitors produced by Matt.... They are everything he said they were and are in perfect shape.... His shipping method was superb and they came in JUST when he said they would.... Great service all the way around.... I would DEFINITELY purchase from him again....

Thanks Matt.... they're gorgeous!!

Neil

I got an email before asking me the same question, so I CALLED Matt to ask him in no uncertain terms if they were CB or imported.... He told me POINT BLANK that a friend of his breeds all sorts of Monitors and has had great success with Mangroves, of which these are two.... Matt (himself) didn't breed them, but a friend of his did.... He swore to me up and down that he was telling me the truth.... I have no reason to doubt him.... I realize (in my ad) that I said that Matt produced them, but I'm going to leave it at that because he knows the breeder and lives very close to him....

I'll tell you, though.... these DO NOT look like imports, they are fat with no hip bones showing, the are docile and will let you pick them right up, and they are devouring crickets like champs.... their coloring is superb and there are no blemishes on them of any kind, and their stools are just as they should be (nothing moving inside).... If they ARE imports, they are the NICEST imports you will ever see!!....

Neil

Just because an import indicus is acclimating well doesn't make it cb. These are babies too, so there is less of a chance of them being scarred up.

Al,

I don't know much about monitors, so excuse my ignorance, but why would you suspect they are imports if they are listed as cb? Are cb's rare?

Terese,

Yes they are rarely bred and difficult to breed. Even more so with any of the indo species. So when someone makes that claim they should be able to back it up.It's not like a corn snake or other snakes that everyone and there mother is breeding or has.
Alot of us are still working with wild caught imported adults to try and get babies. With indos you'll be lucky to even see first generation, yet alone anything past that.

Mangrove

If you check the site he doesnt list them as Captive Bred.
Just as "Baby". The Niles are listed the same way.
I would suspect a true Cb Mangrove would sell for more than $99.

Ya know.... I just don't understand you guys.... if you're that curious about them, instead of making all these accusations and assumptions.... get on the phone and CALL him yourself to find out??.... How tough is that??.... Until you can PROVE that he's lieing, you really have NO RIGHT to question his honesty at all....

Neil

Documentation

Some sort of documentation, pics or records of the breeding would help. I wouldn't be taking Neil's word that they are captive bred without REAL proof.

Just because the seller's friend bred them doesn't mean that it is legit. Of course they may be legit, but proof of who bred them and the needed info is a must.

At this point we don't even have a name as to who is claiming they bred them.

Scott.... you should know by now that I really don't care what YOU believe.... you know who I got them from.... call HIM and ask before you ASSume something for yourself!.... IF it turns out that you can PROVE they are not what HE says they are.... I will have no problem changing my ad, but, until then, I believe him....

Neil

I dont think he lied. His site does list Cb animals, but on a few things like the niles and mangroves it just says "baby". He doesnt represent them as cb on his site. It might be a misunderstanding.

Larry.... I just SPOKE to Matt again.... he said that his friend has been doing this for a living for over 25 years and doesn't do the computer thing.... he sells all his babies as soon as they're born and never advertises.... but, Matt (himself) will get on here in a while (so he told me), and tell you himself.... He CAN get pictures of the parents, but not of the eggs because his "guy" doesn't advertise and has no need of egg pics (or the need to PROVE anything).... I can totally understand that....

I just wanted to let everyone know that Neil is a really nice guy. I would love to do business with him in the future. He sent the payment to me right away as promised, and called me to let me know that the animals arrived better than I described to him. Thanks again for you business Neil!

As for the whole CB thing... If you guys don't believe that they are CB, then don't buy them. Just because some people have tried to breed a certain species, doesn't mean it can't be done or hasn't been done by someone else. The person that produced these does not do any interenet business because of all the reptile "drama" if you will. He is a very humble person and I have known him for 15 years. He has also been in the reptile business for over 20 years and has produced a lot of rare species. If you question the animals being CB, no one is forcing you to buy them. I produce a lot of animals and ask reasonible prices for them. If you want to question my animals I would rather not deal with it. Having over 1000 plus reptiles, I don't have time to deal with it. If you have any questions about my animals I would be more than happy to answer them for you. I think that you can all understand where I am coming from if you own a decent sized business as well. I hope that this answers your questions and any confusion. Have a good week everyone!

Wow

If his friend has been breeding for 25 years then I suspect he is very well known. Its not a big deal, but from looking at how he listed them on his site (not as cb) and the price it looks more like farmed/imports. Very few people breed them and if he does it for a living I would assume he has large wholesale buyers (Striclty) to purchase them and other monitors he produces.

Either way, they look great and good luck with them.

Matt

Hey Matt, its not that no one believes you but you have numerous Cb animals listed as Cb on your site.
However, the Niles, Tegus and Mangroves (all commonly imported/farmed) are simply listed as "baby". Nothing wrong with that, but why not list them as Cb? The price listed for all 3 is also common for imported/farmed babies.

As stated before, they look great and good luck with them.
Will you be offering other Cb moniotors produced by your friend?
Its nice to see more cb monitors such as the mangroves.

He is well known to the people that have been around for a long time. He doesn't sell to any large wholesailers becuase he doesn't need to let go of large lots of animals. People know that his animals are nothing but healthy. I hope one day that I will be as knowledgable and successful as him with reptiles. Like Neil said these animals are very good looking! If you want to get your hands on some nice Mangroves, Neil has them now!

ok

you are sold out of cb mangroves?

So he breeds monitors for a living, but doesnt sell to large wholesalers? People who breed for a living will have some clients lined up to take a bulk of their offspring (= wholesalers).
Its great he sells everything to you. It seems you sell enough of his cb monitors to keep him in biz.

If your selling cb mangroves for only $99 I cant imagine what his wholesale price is. Hopefully he will advertise one of these days.

why the mystery?

Why is the gentleman who bred these animals denied the credit here? I know if I bred them I would be proud....and after all, he doesn't do any internet sales so what's the hurt in naming him here? Nobody can reach him via the internet right? ...so you shouldn't lose your contact anyways, particularly if you've been friends for 15 years or whatever....just curious.
-Raymond Melrose Sr.

Why all the mystery Matt?
Why not just identify the breeder? If he has been in the business of breeding Varanus for 25 years he is probably well known and will lend credibility to your claim.

...or atleast give Neil the breeder's name so he can properly represent them in his ad instead of giving you credit for a rare accomplishment that you had nothing to do with.

Hmmm Ray,
Were were posting the same thing at the same time and we're both from FL. Small world huh?
