    =====================

    I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

    So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

    But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

    Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

    I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
    Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

    And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

Inquiry Kevin Dunne Dragons Den

I also had a transaction with Kevin that I was not very happy with. I paid top dollar for a white hypo (leucistic) female leather from him and another sunburst hypo leather male last year. I needed these specific morphs and sexes for 2 different projects.

The male who was larger arrived in pretty good shape but was very skittish and stressed even when I was just in the room feeding for several weeks. Then after around a month he developed this subcutaneous nodule on his elbow the size of a pencil eraser. I notified Kevin right away with pictures, he told me it looked normal to him and he didn't see a problem. So being very worried still I sent the pics to Tom Clarke who I purchased some of my other dragons from, he said this was definately not normal... Being a vet tech I brought him in to work the next day and the vet did an aspirate, it appeared to be viscous joint fluid, I increased calcium via liquid drops and removed all the deco from the cage in an attempt to rest him. He has since made a full recovery but it would have been nice if the seller checked in on him or actually took a close look at my pretty decent photos... The only thing the vet could think of was he injured the elbow- this was possible as this dragon was so stressed he would run and hit the wall when you went to handle him or clean out the cage, this made healing slow as well... The stress I believe was the seller's fault but this happened in my care so I handled it on my own and asked the seller for nothing (not another animal, not a partial refund, nothing).

Next was the white hypo or "leucistic" leatherback female. She arrived under weight and took almost 6 weeks to fully acclimate and start eating really well. Also this was not a hatchling when it arrived, probably closer to 2-3 months and upon initial inspection I thought it was a male and talked to Kevin on the phone about it, but he convinced me it was the musculature of the tail and I believed him as I hadn't bred dragons since high school and was rusty on sexing little ones. Once she started filling out a little I noticed that SHE was definately a HE with 2 large hemipenes. I once again contacted Kevin this time with pictures of the hemipenes. He agreed he made a mistake but had no females to trade out or sell me. He then tried to sell me a "colorful leucistic" female non leather he had. I was looking for white leucistics not colored ones but was open to the idea until he told me the deal was $200 instead of $250 for all the trouble. In my mind this was not a good deal at all and I had spent the last 6wk growing out an animal that would not fit into my projects.

At this point I didn't even want any more animals from Kevin. I believe the 2 dragons I recieved were poorly socialized and underfed and this is why they took weeks to acclimate. I bought dragons from other sellers and their dragons where thriving right out of the box day 1. Under my care the leucy leather MALE from him has flourished and is one of my favorite dragons but it honestly wasn't worth the headache...

On another note I breed creamback cresties and that is a buckskin! Salmon, red and light brown would have been a more accurate description :( Sorry about your headache, and good job getting that shed off.

Sorry about your loss Tom and I agree with you both. If you are going to charge quality prices, sell quality animals and provide quality customer service...

Thanks for sharing that. There were multiple issues, minor and not minor with your transaction.

It really urked me when this happened. Between the disappointment in your voice and I felt bad cause I told you to call him and he would make it right. As he did for me with the first two dead animals.

I dont know what he could have done about the knob on the elbow, but the mis sexed animal. That was messed up, and how he handled it.

The only good thing is, there both alive and well now.

something I noticed back when I got mine he would always use the same pics for certain animals esp. the reds he was selling. I dont know what he does now but I use to notice that quite a bit

Thank you for the responses-pictures

I'm sorry to hear about the bearded dragons-I have a beardie too and can imagine how difficult those situations must have been.

Here are some pictures of the little red female. The first pic on the blue egg crate is from his ad online. The others are in the eve after she was misted so she is fired up-but I'm not saying that as she gets older she won't become a brighter color or that she might not be brighter under different conditions. What concerns me is the crest situation-or anyway the fact that she doesn't have any to speak of.

Pics I hope

Rosie-maybe this was a lack of experience on my part and a more experienced breeder would have taken a glance and not bought. She is 8 months old.

Salmon Male

This guy is actually pretty close to my expectations if not my hopes-I hoped to be very pleasantly surprised and find better structure and more dal-but he has potential and if they had all been like him then I would have thought the seller was trying to meet my needs. You can see the shed in these pics on his toes. He also has a stub tail but I knew about that ahead of time.

That line (Dragon's Den) of Reds tend to always have very reduced crests.

Just sharing my experience

I'm not sure that I would post it as a true "bad guy" comment, but I'd describe the service from Kevin as inconsistent. I have no crested experience, but do breed bearded dragons. In my first transaction, I was very impressed. He gave me an excellent deal on a very orange hypo male (who turned out to be het trans) because of a missing foot. I therefore went back for seconds when he posted a female hypo leather from his sunburst line that I thought would be perfect for my projects. She is indeed beautiful, but the additional female that I bought with her was less than expected. I inquired about additional hypo leathers from the same line, and he sent me pics of an additional female hypo leather with interestingly subdued colors. I accepted, paid, and he shipped them out. Unfortunately, she turned out not to be hypo at all once I received her. I emailed Kevin (and if anybody cares, I do have all this correspondence, but figure it doesn't matter since I'm not asking for anything), and he simply said, "well, I know she's at least het..." Clearly, I didn't DEMAND anything, but I was curious to see his response, figuring we'd at least be looking at a "my bad, I'll take care of you with a good deal next time (and there would have been a next time)" scenario. Long story short, the guy has great bloodlines, and I have gotten some very good deals from him, but you should go in with eyes open. With pics of the actual animal and some pointed questions, I would not hesitate to buy from him again, although I don't have any plans to do so as I've been better "taken care of" by some others in the industry.

I have ordered from Kevin 2 times in the past 6 months for both bearded dragons and crested geckos. He posted a pic of a female crested on kingsnake of a female lavender that my wife HAD to have (it is the most I have spent on a crested to date) and if he did alter the photo he did a bad job of it as the female is BETTER in person then in the photo. As far as bearded dragons I trusted him with what I wanted and he again did not disappoint me with him picking me some nice dragons for a really good price compaired to others selling the same dragons for over 100.00 more each. Maybe the OP did get him on a bad day, but I will do buss. with Kevin again and would have no problem recomending him to even my good freinds. Larry Grant

He has only done right by me every transaction I have ever made with him (3) The dragons have looked better than the pictures....If you look hard enough you will find people slinging mud about every breeder out there. Kevin seems to be a genuinely good guy IMO
