    I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

    So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

    But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

    Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

    I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Hello all.

Has anyone had any experience with Katherine McBroom of Holly, Michigan? I had a check sent USPS priority mail to her. She cashed the check yesterday. The weird thing is that she road my ass getting it into her. However she did not reply to my message from yesterday confirming she got it. She did not reply to my second message with respect to shipping my dragon.

There is no listing for her in the white pages. No facebook profile. But I did find a bunch of complaints listed against her and/or her boyfriend-whatever on other things. To say I'm nervous about this sudden lack of response would be accurate. I've never had a sale go south like this before. Usually I get some sort of 'your payment has been received, thanks' message along with a discussion re: shipping plans.

Interested to see what if any experience others have had with her.

I have sold to her and have bought from her with no problems on her part.

When did she receive your check. there is a lag time while the check is waiting to clear the bank. heat and high temps will also slow down a live animal shipment.

I hope she contacts you soon.
 
I have a copy of the check front and back, courtesy of BOA's online banking magic. It was cut from our company's bank account. It has her account number and drivers license number on it, so she did it in person at a teller. If the funds weren't available, they wouldn't have cashed it for her. But it's BOA's policy that if you deposit a check and they do a teller hold on the funds (which they did), then the funds are available in your account immediately. I hope everything is ok with her. Like I said, she was on me like white on rice to get the check to her. The least I would have expected is an "Hey I got your check... let's figure out shipping".

I just got curious and ran her on Google. Here's where I got nervous:

Keep in mind she does work and shipping late in the week on Thursday or Friday is something most will not do.

I think your safe with her, more than likely she is shipping Monday.she should contact you soon.:)

I heard from her last night:

"I received it yesterday afternoon.We will set up shipping for the beginning of the week.Thanks."

I replied back to her regarding the shipping being via Fed Ex. I'm in Louisiana. The temps are high. USPS does not guarantee next day delivery. And when USPS does show up with a next day package, it's usually around 5p. So the animal would basically bake.

I don't have a reply from her regarding shipping details and the like. I'd prefer to wait until the temps drop. But it's kind of hard to have a conversation with someone who takes 24 hours or more to respond.

I hope it works out. We'll see. It just doesn't pass the smell test of good business practices at all.
 
Ask her for her phone number. I hate doing business over the phone, but I refuse to do any business without a contact number in case of emergencies.

I would try to contact her ASAP. I've seen it all to many times where you will get an unexpected email saying "She went out tonight and will be there tomorrow!" and it's 110 degrees for the next week.

Ok good idea. I'll drop her a message now. Thanks :) I saw a post yesterday about a tortise that was shipped UPS ground and ended up DOA. (Different seller of course, NOT Katherine) I just want this thing to be smooth and have the animal arrive in good shape. Would hate for something to go wrong.
 
I've Had It. This Stinks

I got a one line response from this person after 3 messages. I sent another today requesting her phone number, method of shipping, etc. As usual, no ******** response. Sorry, but I demanded a refund. Here's my note to her:

"Katherine,

Look. You hounded me on a daily basis about that check. You get the check and I get a bunch of freaking silence. I found things on the internet in your name. I'm not comfortable. Just post my money back to me Monday. Deduct the 10.00 USPS is going to charge you to send it priority mail with a delivery confirmation. I've never had a legit breeder act like this before. And the bottom line is that I'm not about to start to trust the quality of the dragon. If this is how you handle your business, I have serious misgivings about the way you handle your animals. I don't even want to take the chance at this point.

I've :censored: had enough of this. When the woman wanted that 150.00 check she blew up my PMs on a daily basis and then she can't reply to emails or deign to have a conversation about the shipping of the animal? I don't think so. There are internet scam complaints about her and her boyfriend all over the place. I've posted some of the links above. This stinks of a scam. I don't even want the dragon from her at this point.

Like I said in my message... if this is the way she treats humans, I don't want to see what she does to a dragon. :censored: :censored: God.
 
Contacted Her Local Police Department

Her local police department was contacted. The officer I spoke with was already familiar with this person and her boyfriend. He said it's most likely that he has been the one I have been communicating with. She "just" cashes the checks. They have had contact with them regarding a couple of different "issues". It was resolved that if I do not have a dragon in my hands at 10:30a via Fed Ex on Tuesday morning that I'm to call them back, file a complaint for theft/fraud with them, and then one at the USPS for mail fraud.

I've dealt with a number of reputable, established dealers here. I'm not going to mention their names here, because I don't want them associated with these posts. But in all cases, they have been quick to respond, gave a damn about their animals, and were a joy to deal with.

I currently am working on getting three animals here. Two by private sellers, one with another well established breeder. It's ironic that the two I'm dealing with who are not established breeders are difficult, at best, to deal with. One wants to ship from New Mexico in 100 degree heat without cool packs to New Orleans "because it's cool at night". What this one doesn't understand is that New Orleans and USPS overnight don't work. They don't deliver until after 4pm. They never get here 'next day'. And if that happens, the dragon is cooked. Stay tuned for the outcome to that pending nightmare. The other is this idiot Katherine McBroom who forgot how to turn on her computer.

The dealer? Actually asked about the temps here locally, will only ship Fed Ex, and has agreed to cool pack the animal if it's right on the edge.

Lesson learned. If they aren't a breeder, aren't established, and have absolutely no reputation, I'm not dealing with them. At least I'm only loosing a few hundred dollars as opposed to thousands I guess. But it doesn't lessen the sting of dealing with this that's for sure.

All I'm trying to do is build my white and citrus breeding lines out with some new fresh genetics. This past week on fauna has been pretty disheartening that's for sure.

Your right, it's only been since Thursday since the check has been cashed. logical thinking would put shipping early in the week IF the temps are in a safe range.

I don't think a BOI thread was warranted here.not yet anyway.

Although I'm sure that you're extremely frustrated with this whole situation, please know that not all small breeders on here are like this- there are many that treat both their customers and animals well. :)

I'm not saying they're the same person or not as no email address is posted, but, going by the threads that you linked on this one, there is a lot of info right here on them.

Michael, you jumped the gun on this BOI thread.

She cashed your check on Wednesday... you started this thread on Thursday, seems like it was because she didn't contact you as fast as you wanted.

You posted 2 links that have nothing to do with Katherine Mc Broom, they could be a boy friend or someone else. you have labeled Katherine a scammer that is involved in internet fraud. I don't see it at all.

She posted a few dragons for sale this past week, I bought the sub adult female orange translucent, she arrived fat and healthy on Thursday. does that sound like a scammer? I have sold dragons to her a few different times with no problems.

Michael please post all the info saying Katherine is a scammer and is involved in any internet fraud.

There is no issue here.You said you sent the check on July 25th and you didn't send it until august 1st.I wrote you on august 4th and said I received the check and would get back to you to set up shipping for the beginning of the week.It is the beginning of the week now and I need to know what day you want her shipped.You jumped to conclusions for no reason and you were not hounded about the check.Look through you pm's and tell me where you were hounded.You were asked if the check was sent and you said it was,but it actually wasn't sent until august 1st.I am holding up my end of the bargain.

Thanks Ed. I wrote him on the 4th and told him I received the check and would get back with him to set up shipping for the beginning of the week. I never ship on thursdays,only monday thru wednesday.I then left town thursday afternoon for a family issue.I just got home a little bit ago and found all of this on here. I didn't complain about him telling me he sent the check on the 25th of july when he didn't send it until august 1st,and I didn't hound him. I wrote him on july 27th asking if he sent payment and he said he did.Then I let him know on two other occasions the I had not received the check.And yes,my bank did put a hold on the check. I don't feel I did anything wrong and I feel that this thread was not needed.He jumped the gun and accusing me of other things is just ridiculous! I will send the dragon to him this week if he get's back to me and let's me know when he will be home to receive it.

Please show the people that are reading this thread the pm's from me that make you say I road your ass about getting the check. That is not true and I would like you to retract that and retract this: 5) Katherine McBroom and company has an established history of internet fraud. I have never commited any kind of fraud!
 
Michael Carter/BeardeDragonStore seems to have made a good case for him self as someone to not do business with, a little patience on his part would have gone a long way towards him having a good transaction.

The names and label he put on Kasey were unwarranted and uncalled for. sometimes people don't understand calling someone a scammer or something to that effect is read by thousands and has a severe adverse effect on a persons reputation and business even if it is not true.

I hope shipping goes well and Mike gets what he has paid for. :)
