As I said, no character, no class, but ticks and mites are free with every purchase I guess.
Evan,
I understand that you are probably upset after having a heated phone conversation with Stan. However, to make unsubstantiated statements like the one above is not only inappropriate, it is
lying when you don’t have the proof to back it up. This sort of thing doesn’t really make the person that you are trying to discredit look bad, rather it makes you look bad…and ultimately discredits you.
Your first post was not one based on personal experience. It was based on hearsay. It would have been more appropriate for you to have contacted Mr. Davis in order to see if he wanted to comment on his experiences doing business with Stan, and then let
him make the decision as to what should be said or not said. Personally, I know nothing about any dealings between Stan and Mr. Davis, but I would imagine that if Mr. Davis wasn’t interested in coming here and posting himself, that things have been worked out between them in a mutually agreeable manner. That being said, since you aren’t privy to the private business dealings of either party, it is less than appropriate for you to publicize any
rumors of misdoing by either party.
The rules of the BOI state this (bolding added by me):
This forum is designed to serve the purpose of giving anyone interested in the buying and selling of herptile related merchandise the opportunity to inquire about, or find already existing information concerning a person or business with whom they are considering doing business with. This is NOT the place for flame wars of any kind. Statements, rebuttals and clarifications of FACTS are what we are looking for. Personal slurs or heated discusssions about someone's ancestry will not be tolerated. Opinions are acceptable as long as it is PLAINLY stated that you are stating an opinion. Facts are: dates, value of transactions, actual quoted conversations, and the like. Opinons are: YOUR interpretations of motives, business practices or impressions of the person with whom you had conversations with. Keep these FIRMLY in mind when you are posting your message.
Proof is optional, but recommended if you would like to remove any doubts about the truth of what you are posting. But this is purely up to you, just as the believability of what you post is purely up to the reader of your words.
The BOI provides our industry with an invaluable tool to help us discern who would be a good person to do business with and who might not be. Unfortunately, there are often personal grievances that get aired in these types of discussions. This sort of personal grudge ultimately acts to undermine the integrity of this site. The problem is that in order to protect the “free speech” policy of the site, this sort of thing has to be allowed to stand. Consequently, it is up to the reader to decide for themselves what (if any) motivation or agenda might lie behind a given post.
Evan, I certainly hope that you don’t take offence to this post as it is not meant in a derogatory manner. Rather, it is meant to serve as a “reality check” of sorts. The question at hand was directed at people who
have done business with Stan, and what kinds of experiences they had. It now appears that it is turning into a personal vendetta in which you are trying to trash Stan’s reputation because he “yelled” at you. While I understand that feeling like you are “getting even” for a perceived slight might be desirable, it often times makes
you look bad in the long run. Please give consideration to what I’m trying to say here.
Stan,
It has been my experience that no one ever benefits by responding in anger on this forum. I would encourage you to take a step back and calm yourself, and then try to address any concerns or accusations in a cool-headed and professional manner. There is nothing to be gained by getting drug into a big pissing match and posting (or saying) things that you can’t take back later. I hope that you will also give some consideration to what I'm trying to say here.
