I'm considering taking in a Dwarf red tail boa. She's currently 3 ft long in a 36x18x18 Exoterra. Her current owner believes her to be a few years old and probably full grown. Any input on this? She'd also have to convert from live to FT. We'd both benefit from some hook training because she's a very strong feeder. My BPs are hook trained. My solid experience is with corns, BPs, one AHS and Rosie's. I'm new to DRMB and Dumerils. This same person is also rehoming his GTP, which I posted about in the arboreal discussion area. What do people think? I'm 53. My biggest snakes are a 7ft female Dumerils, a 6ft male DRMB and a 4ft female BP.

I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?
So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.
But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.
Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.
I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

Do you know the locality? There are several dwarf localities with considerable size variance. Some of the smallest may be fully grown at about that size. Got a pic?
The smallest of the dwarf localities is the Tarahumara. Females top out around 4.5 feet and would certainly be comfortable in a 40-breeder size enclosure. I have two and run them in 41-qt tubs.
They have a good food response but no stronger than a Dumerils boa. Hook training is never a bad idea with them as they can be a bit defensive when young. My adults have chilled out with consistent and gentle handling though.
They are the ideal boa to keep for someone who wants to keep a BCI but who doesn't have the living space available for a 48" enclosure.

I made my first album! This is the dwarf boa I'm thinking to adopt, based on how big it will get. The locality is unknown because she was an abuse case, so the current owner doesn't have any specifics.

Lower saddle count and cleaner color suggest potential Colombian influence, which would mean that she may not be all dwarf. Any chance you know her age and feeding schedule? That might be able to give us some clues. However, Colombian influence would also create the potential for a better temperament than most pure CA boas.

Boas will continue to grow their entire lives, even with a slow start.
'Dwarf's just tend to stay on the smaller side in the 4-5' range while the much more common Colombian (and some Central Americans) will get 5-8'+

Ayup. That's a common BCI, no dwarf lineage. Fed correctly I'd expect it to get at least 5-6 feet long, maybe more if female. Expect to need a larger enclosure than it's in now in the near future.
