    =====================

I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

Anyone having problems with FedEx lately? We had 4 packages delayed this month alone receiving and shipping out. I attached one of the most outrages delays that we had. Two leopard geckos were delayed 9 hours. I just wanted to know from fellow breeders if you guys are having any issues with them too. Just to let you guys know, this package was scheduled to be delivered at 10:30 am the latest. It didn't get there until 6:24 pm.

Thanks for your response. I just want to know if I should send a test package with UPS to see if my babies will get to their new homes safely. I'm about done with FedEx and their screw ups.

Unless you have an account with ups, or they changed their policy you cannot ship threw ups.

And fedex has been having an "over flow" problem. I guess they were claiming too many packages were being sent and was flooding the facilities so they were getting backed up. But that was a couple weeks ago I heard about that

Post a source for your hearsay. Who are you quoting?

What's hear say? That they were having problems at 2 of their main hubs? And I wasnt quoting any body. Jeez

I had many many people tell me and post about fedex having issues at their 2 main hubs and that a lot of reptile shipments were late by a day or even longer. it's not hearsay, it's what was actually happening a couple weeks ago.

The widlfires are actually responsible for more delays than just the West (we were over 100 fires a couple days ago, I know of three in Arizona now extinguished, including one behind my house).

The delays for the western side are causing a domino effect (though heavy eastern rains are not helping either).

If you call them and speak to a representative they'll pretty much tell you the same thing.

That's just the only thing I can pull up, apparently they don't have anything still available about what I was speaking of earlier about the issues in Memphis and another hub, several people were getting snakes late by a day or days and that was the explication they got. I have had anything shipped to me since October so I wasn't effected by it but many people were, they were telling people not to ship for a while till fedex got it under control.

I have had two outbound delays for 2015 and one inbound delay for 2015 (thus far). While I am not happy about there being a delay when there is a delay, I understand that those are exceptions for me rather than high-frequency events. Also, while the recipients of outbound packages experiencing delays are likely not at ease, I am pretty calm about the whole thing and the packaging utilized should see the precious cargo safely through the stretched duration. I think FedEx does a darn fine job with the insane volume they handle and they will continue to have my business via the use of a facilitator (RE).

One thing to remember with fedex is that even they say guaranteed by 10.30am it really is not
they do not and will not guarantee a 10.30am delivery, they HOPE to get it to you by 10.30am but it is far from certain and there is ZERO comeback to fedex if it is late and has caused an issue
unfortunately there is little choice as ups do not carry live animals
now that being said I had 5 shipments go out and 2 come in, in the last 4 weeks and ALL got there/arrived in a very timely fashion so maybe I was very fortunate?

I have had so many issues with Fed Ex delivery that i have them hold my boxes at the local Hub for pickup . I have missed so many hours from work waiting on the " by 10:30 a.m. " boxes it's not even funny .
The trick some of the drivers use is they scan your box ( before 10:30 of course ) while it is still on the their truck , you get a delivery confirmation sent to your phone as you are waiting by your front door ; then you call and all the games begin:
" have you looked around your yard , in the bushes ? "
" have you checked with all your neighbors ? "
" we just spoke with your driver and he said it is at your front door "
So , after my reptiles have been in a metal truck, no air conditioning , Florida heat all day the driver will leave it a few doors down in the late afternoon / early evening and then a neighbor will knock on my door and say " Hey , this box was delivered to my house by mistake "
I have contacted Fed Ex and shippers regarding this with dozens of tracking #'s / late delivery times and nothing was ever done about it . They are Horrible .

When there are very bad thunderstorms in summer (or heavy snow in winter), it can cause the FEDEX flights to be delayed either leaving from the shipper's FEDEX airport location or arriving at the FEDEX hub airport location. If the incoming flight is delayed so long that it arrives at the hub airport AFTER the outgoing flight to the final destination airport has left for that night, your package will be delayed by one day. This happens from time to time. This summer, there were really bad thunderstorms at the Memphis hub one night and many FEDEX flights from other cities were delayed getting in there. The result was that they received so many packages at the Memphis hub the next day that they were simply overwhelmed by the huge volume. The FEDEX management then decided at midnight or so that second night not to allow any more flights to go to Memphis that night. A package had been shipped to me from TX that evening, but sat in Dallas all night, and at 9 AM the next morning was sent to Indianapolis instead of Memphis for that reason. The package went from Indy to ATL the second night and was delivered to me two days after it was shipped rather than the next day. I have had this type of delay happen more than once in the 50 years I have been doing this hobby and have learned all this from personal experience. This is why savvy shippers will NOT ship via overnight service on a Thursday or a Friday. Any delay such as mentioned above will prevent the package from being delivered until the following Monday since a special box must be checked and an extra fee paid when the shipment is booked to have it delivered on a Saturday, which no one does routinely since such delays are not normally anticipated.

FedEx is horrible, plain and simple! I really cant remember the last time I either received or shipped out and it went perfectly smooth. This is why I always use UPS whenever possible. Yes, UPS is a lot more expensive, but to me their service and reliability (peace of mind) is well worth it! Whoever mentioned that shipping via UPS is illegal is completely wrong. They ship pretty much all reptiles EXCEPT for snakes.

They have gone severely downhill lately.
The last 3 deliveries have been late by hours.
Getting sick and tired of paying for a service and these idiots forgetting to move it to the next destination. The last one they claimed they forgot it and left it behind. Not an acceptable answer.

Have used FedEx for many years. Both shipping and receiving.
In all the years, via FedEx, I have only had 3 delays (by hours) and one overnight shipment, a few years ago, that took 2 days to get to me.
Then, this July, I had a shipment (frozen rodents this time) that took 3 days to get to me (luckily, the rodents were still frozen).
No shipping company is without its occasional problem/s (some more than others).
Considering my experience, of very infrequent (or rare) amount of problems for such a hugely used company, I have no problem continuing to use FedEx.

I've had a lot of delays with fed-ex over the past two months, too. Only about 1/2 my shipments have been on time. Before that I only had the occasional delay.
