    =====================

I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

    **************************************************
In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Bad Guy BEWARE OF PIJAC!!!!

And one more point. Where do you think the big breeders get a large number of the lower end animals that they supply to Petco and Petsmart? They buy them from smaller breeders in wholesale lots.

I really think everyone needs to take a step back, take a couple of deep breaths and quit recycling unsubstantiated rumors around till there is actually some shred of evidence to support them.

The blog entry on NOHR669 plainly states PIJACS position. You can choose to believe it or not.

:iagree:

No need to overreact yet.

Everyone think about this, if the big name breeders do stop small breeders, who is going to buy from them? Are you going to buy from someone who blatantly screwed over your hobby? What is the point of spending a few grand on a reptile if you cannot breed it? These guys will only be dealing with each other because they will lose their fan base and customers. They have no financial gain.

In reality, the reptile business will go underground. The small time breeders will still do business with each other behind closed doors. No need to spend money on booths when a "tupperware party" will be hosted between friends. This can be a good thing for small time breeders, read carefully between the lines and a loophole will be discovered.

What this thread needs is facts, not ASSumptions. Reading the "I know but won't tell" is getting real old real quick when our hobby is on the line. I say out those who are trying to shut us down.

We can make calls, send e-mails, and stop buying. This will stop within moments, all it takes is those who have names to come forward. Money talks, if big names are involved, they will listen quickly when their bank account is no longer growing and their stock is pilling up in the corners due to lack of sales. Food on their table is just as important as food on ours.

Yep. i wont buy a DAMN thing if i cant even produce my own morphs with it. HA. What would those people be thinking?! They would effectively and THOROUGHLY kill their own market if that were true!!!! HAHAHAHAHA

Go on. Collect your pokemon morphs if you wanna. But i know i wont be!

Great Post Michael!!!!

If it is easy, then great. But I haven't heard of hardly ANY small time breeders saying "Oh yeah, I shipped out some xx morphs to the UK" anytime lately.
I know of a few breeders that ship overseas, but none that are small hobby breeders.
If there's tons of hobby breeders shipping overseas, than, sorry, I didn't know about it.

I dont really look into that stuff all that often, nor does it really come up in conversation, but this is the first time ive heard of it too. :) Ill have to check it out. ( just to understand how it works)

As my grandpa is fond of saying, "Never believe anything you hear and only half of what you see".

And on the flip side, "Just because you are paranoid, dont mean it aint happening". No credit to grandpa shrap on that one.

Folks are scared. And deservedly so. Livelihoods, homes, marriages, childrens future, etc, etc are at stake here. So I completely understand people wanting to discuss these things when they hear them. And they should be discussed. Walking around with blinders on is no better than going on witch hunts in my opinion.

In all honesty folks there is nothing that can be done until they come back with their re-write of this Bill. Even if there are backroom deals going on, there is nothing we can do about it right now. Once the re-write is released then we can act. Be it pats on the back all around or breaking out the nooses....

Sammy, I think I Love you!

You grandpa sounds like a good guy!

However, I disagree that nothing can be done. The best thing we all can do is help educate the public while in between massive letter writing campaigns to politicians who've already made up their minds. Contact a local school and do a responsible presentation with your animals. Call the local news stations and ask them to cover it. Write letters to the newspaper every time one of these "pythons are going to take over the country" articles comes out.

Thanks,
Ed

Their are more small time breeders/Importers doing Exports than you think. Matter of fact, some are Export based. Only producing animals/Importing for untapped markets overseas. Most are Non-Cities animals though, which are incredibly easy to Export. Captive Bred Cities stuff takes up to 6 months to get Export permits, if they are granted, which is why most of those shipments are valued in the thousands because of the time and effort involved. Wild Caught Cities stuff can be immediately Re-Exported, because the permit is still valid once they are brought in the US.

Someday, a friend will call me, see if I can hook him up. I'll shoot Sammy a page, we'll meet behind a quicky-mart. I'll pass him a small stack of bills, he'll pass me a small bag. We'll each go our own way.

The cost of a two-finger bag of pied will double.

"Yo man... How much double het can I get for $20 dawg!"

Here's a post that actually belongs in this thread.

A few years ago, my state government was hearing a bill to ban all constrictors that had the "potential" to reach 5 foot.
I contacted PJIAC to inform them of this and ask for assistance in fighting the bill.
ZERO of my phone calls and emails were ever returned or even acknowledged.
I drove the 2+ hours down to the capital and spoke at the committee meeting along with many others from my state and got the bill killed in committe.

HSUS had a representative there attempting to get the bill through.
PJIAC? Not interested I guess. Maybe they didn't think me and my fellow constrictor keepers in my state were a big enough piece of the pie to warrant spending some of the donations that I sent them in the past.

Damon, thank you for the very useful and very telling information.Actions are always more useful to determine someone's or some organizations true motives. Kudos for stepping up and being proactive in your state too.

Seems to me Brian wants to call me a liar, he wanted proof I called him, he even posted on his face book I was a liar. Well Brian, who is the liar now?

I am sorry, but my scanner was not working, but here is proof I called Brian, lets see if he is man enough to say he was wrong, and buck up with an apology.

Post this on your face book Brian!!

Bobby,
The USDA IS NOT quailified nor trained to inspect the health and well being of herps. The USDA has zero jurisdiction over reptiles/amphibians.

Randal Berry

Randal, do you know anything about reptiles? U.S. Department of Agriculture has everything to do with reptiles. You are 110% pure wrong, do the homework. USDA is over all aspects of reptiles, and to make a comment like this is pure silly.

I can say as a licensed importer/exporter,that there are 3 government agencies that I deal with repeatedly. They are USDA/Aphis,USFW and U.S. Customs.I am painfully aware of them all.I do understand they are just doing their jobs. These 3 entities can stop a shipment for a variety of reasons at any time.

Seems to me Brian wants to call me a liar...

Anyone that has known you longer than 5 minutes knows you are not a liar Bobby. You may be loud mouthed, opinionated and hard headed (just as I was recently described myself. Thanks grandma!!), but you are as honest as the day is long. Misguided sometimes maybe, but certainly a good man with good intentions and not a liar by any stretch of the imagination.

Forgive me, but I'm at a loss. What is the 2 minute phone call proving? This Brian just said you never called?

Ahh, i think i understand now. had to go back and read your first post Bobby.
