    =====================

    I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

    So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

    But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

    Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

    I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
    Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

    And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

Inquiry Ben Siegel auctions

I thought he wasn't allowed contact with the animals anymore? Or was that just for a period of time? I'm honestly just curious since it continues to operate with his name and if he's not allowed to have contact with the animals how is he running the business? Or did someone else just take over and leave his name on it? I know the store front was sold but the online stuff? Where are the animals? Who's taking care of them? Who's selling them? Was that ban on him having contact with the animals lifted?

Lot of questions, probably best to go right to the source, email or call and ask.:thumbsup:

Honestly I think it should be posted here. I'm sure many have these same questions and should be able to get it easily. If he's still in contact with animals and still ordered not to then that's a problem. I'm not saying that's the case but it should be in one of the threads about him. If someone finds out they should post it here. I won't buy animals from there regardless but I was just curious as they still seem to be operating under his name.

My understanding is that the online auctions had been given over to another company (the local one that bought/merged with the physical store?) and Ben himself is not operating it.

I would imagine it continues to use his name simply because of previous exposure and branding. Instead of rebranding the online auction and potentially losing customers who can't find the new page or name, they just continued on with the old one for ease of use and continuity.

I actually met the guy who bought out Ben Siegel Reptile's physical store when I was in FL, I'm almost certain he's running the auctions for Ben Siegel as well. Jay from The Jungle. Very nice guy from what I can tell.

I know Ben is selling some stuff on his own again, I saw he posted something on facebook the other day and chatted with him for a bit.

I think this is exactly right. I think Jay just decided to keep the huge customer base online and go on as if nothing had changed. So far there haven't been any issues that I know of.

So you are saying that Jay Eaton of TheJungleFlorida who lists a lot on here is now actually running both Bens old physical store AND the online auction business?

Interesting indeed!
Thank you

I hope I didn't open a can of worms lol, that was my understanding though yes. Ben's ex-wife was handling everything while he was "recovering" and she is not the most pleasant lady (to put it nicely). Needless to say that didn't last very long and they decided to sell everything.

I very much doubt it is an "opened can of worms" Nick
As I have said earlier, I purchased a gorgeous animal from Ben Siegel online auctions not very long ago and service was top notch as well as the animal being far better than I expected.
If that is what Jay is bringing to the table with his acquisition then I welcome it whole heartedly!

Awesome, yea Jay seemed like a super nice guy, I definitely wouldn't hesitate to do business with him. I think he'll do a good job with it.

His personal facebook page must have been part of the sale

Weird, idk Mike. Maybe I misunderstood and Jay only took over the store. I was under the impression it was a whole package thing but that doesn't make sense that he'd be sharing the auctions (unless that was part of the deal?).

I specifically remember seeing a post on BSR auctions facebook page a while back saying they changed ownership, I remember because I laughed about it (Stacey siegel was super rude to me and I told her she's was going to drive the business into the ground if she talked to people like that...when I got the message I felt extremely verified). All I know is what I gathered from talking with both jay and Ben and seeing that message from the BSR page, but maybe things have changed in the last few months. Maybe someone could message Ben and ask him, last I knew he said he was starting to do a few things on his own again but had sold the business.

Mike now that I'm looking into it you might be onto something, maybe one of them decided to reverse the deal. I talked to them about 6 months ago and a lot can happen in that time, from all appearances it seems that Ben is back in charge but there's no way to know without sending a message.

Has anyone contacted Jay in regards to this thread? Surely he could answer everyone's questions.

I'm not a rocket scientist, but I'm thinking, he could put this thread to bed.

I think you might have a new career choice lined up :p. Let me see if I can get in touch with him and if he even remembers me, I'm sure he deals with a hundred people every day so who knows.

Hey guys, want to clearify all of this. I only bought the retail store. I have nothing to do with any of Ben's online sales. I have my own ads that I put up on here and our Facebook page.....The Jungle Florida. I do not know any information on who, what, and where are the animals from on line. They have nothing to do with my animals and my inventory.
Jay
Ps, thank you for the kind words to the one who posted about meeting me and seeing the store.

Thanks Jay, sorry about the misunderstanding. I'm still under the impression that someone else was running the online auctions for a while but it looks like Ben is back at it now.

I have done a few of his auctions with no problems. Now i have recently agreed to trade off my 2017 hatchling balls to him and have heard nothing in over a week. I havent received a list to choose the trade from or atleast the $650 cash offer that was mentioned or a shipping label. I of course bought shipping supplies on his word so im out a little money but again the auctions were good, just dont take his word when your supplying him with something other then money. PS: i blame the online employee in charge of facebook
