    =====================

    I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

    So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

    But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

    Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

    I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
    Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

    And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. Recently ive offered 12 blue tongue skinks up to insane canes most sexed pairs, 4 northerns (papered Andrew seike bloodline), 4 irian jayas and 4 indonesian/merauke, a couple are likely pregnant, and after sending them 33 recent pictures of the group, they offered me $50 for them. I'll admit I find the the price a bit low, (anyone who knows blueys knows papered andrew seike sexed adults are worth a good bit more than $50) but im not expecting too much there.

The problem im having is they want me to ship the animals to them and then after they've received them they are going to send me a check for the payment. The woman Ive talked to assured me this is industry standard that you are suppose to send the animals and then hope they pay you for them after they've received them. Im trying to give them the benefit of the doubt but i cant shake that it feels fishy. I certainly have never told a seller, "well, i'll pay shipping for it and when I receive it i'll pay you for the animal" and actually expected them to send it without payment. So thats why im hesitant. Im not like a big time importer or anything and that could be the way its done, I wouldnt know, but I cant feel confident without some references.

I checked the boi like she told me to but only found people who have bought from them, not anyone who has actually sold animals to them and was paid this way. If you have sent animals to them and had them pay you this way, please let me know what your experience was.

Thanks in advance.

I would never! It is ultimately YOUR choice, but IMO there is NO reason whatsoever that they can't/shouldn't pay first like everyone else.

I would not go anywhere near a deal like this. If you hang onto them, someone who will pay FIRST, like everyone else does will surely take them off your hands.

Good luck!

I assume that they are buying them for retail. I don't think it is uncommon for people who wholesale to ship animals before receiving payment.

Don't do it. Never send animals without payment. If they pay you with a check, wait two weeks before sending them. When I say check, that includes all money orders, unless you get a Postal Money Order, because you can cash them right there at the post office.

Not the "norm."

And those that have done it (shipped before getting paid) have usually regretted it later. I look at the history of those that shipped to big names before getting paid and the outlook is not always good.

Personally, I wouldn't do it, and I wouldn't care what their name was (unless they were personal friends that I had been knowing for years and I am not talking about internet friendships)

Not only would I not send them, I'd tell them to take $50.00 offer and shove it up....... ;)

I sold a group to Insane Canes within the last month or so and they paid the day that they received the animals. I understand the concern, but I don't think that you have anything to worry about. I wouldn't hesitate to sell to them again in the future.

Do they ship first when selling?

I doubt it. However, Insane Canes did not initiate the deal. The OP stated that he offered the animals for sale. Generally, the one soliciting the trade (whether it be cash for product, product for cash, or any combination) would send first.

With the price so LOW and the product (skinks) with multiple animals, this should NOT be an issue for the buyer. It's not like he is placing a large order (both number and price). Even if he's going to resell he should be able to handle a $100 order !!

I wouldn't do it. They're worth more than $50. you put the time into them!

If you have not done business with them in the past, do not send them your animals! If it were me, I would sell them myself at my desired price.

There have been too many stories on the BOI about critters sent and no money payed. better to have an inquiry thread started, then a bad guy thread.

I have traded with them before...in person...I also know that have been around awhile without anything major happening...as far as bad things I mean....I trust them...BUT...I would never ship animals without being paid first...I have 2 friends that I would do that with...hell I would probably wait to see them again bfore they had to pay me...but I have knownb those 2 guys for years...if they can't pay up front....I just wouldnt do it...just sayin...

This thread feels more like an ad than an inquiry. I don't know why you would post their offer publicly unless you were looking for higher. I understand if you are offended, but if you aren't accepting their offer, how did it get to the point where they ask you to ship first?
Are the animals worth more than $50? Absolutely! That is why Insane Canes is willing to pay that. They are probably going to resell them.
If I asked someone if they wanted something I had, and told them I would ship it to them for money, I would ship it first. If I asked someone if they had something I wanted, and offered them money for it, I would send the money first. It all depends on how the deal was initiated.

I agree with the above parties...this is something I would never do either, regardless of how well established they are. However, I've never "wholesaled" to a business either.

Every wholesaler requires shipping first and then payment after inspection of animals. What you need to decide is whether or not you want to risk it based on their reputation. If you're concerned about actually receiving payment then maybe perhaps contact a wholesaler who has a known rep for paying for their animals or post an ad yourself and not only get paid 1st but make more money.
