    =====================

    I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

    So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

    But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

    Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

    I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
    Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

    And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Opinions on deformed vent scale please

    One of my new born Candoia bibroni bibroni (Fiji boa) babies has a folded vent scale. He's so tiny that it's really hard to see - I didn't spot it with the naked eye, only when I was blowing up pics from trying to sex them. Has anyone seen this before? Is it likely to sort itself out in time...

    Flowerpot snake Ramphytophlops braminus

    Moving a flowerpot in my yard in Fiji, and found, possibly predictably enough, a flowerpot snake Ramphytophlops braminus These tiny guys look exactly like worms to the naked eye, but don't have a central "saddle" and move around in an unmistakably snake-like way instead of curling up into...

    Feeding Candioa mini-boas

    Sorry everyone, I'm a bit snap happy of these, my first Candoia babies.:o They are just so TINY, feeding time is a bit difficult. Here they are on their second ever meal, gecko tail as I can't find geckos small enough. For scale,I'm holding the gecko tails in chopsticks. And yes, the weight...

    Finally BABY CANDIOA - and a long strange road it's been...

    AT LAST I have 13 baby Fiji boas Candioa bibroni bibroni, and it was an ambush! This is the first time I have managed to produce any babies after a couple of years of struggle, most documented in this forum in some form. Before I share the long strange road, here are the pics.....

    Orgy alert! Candoia (Fiji Boa) ovulation and mating

    Posted this and now am sure it was ovulation - mating photos in second post. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> I'm a newbie at breeding - the last mating I saw there was no visible ovulation at all. However I now have a snake who is swelling up like a (rather alarming) balloon. She...

    Need recommendation in Colorado

    My 18 year old niece wants to get a cornsnake, and I'm looking for a reliable supplier in the area of Colorado Springs. Any recommendations? (She tried before and got a non-feeding neonate that eventually died, so I'm looking for someone who supplies snakes feeding well on f/t) Thanks for any...

    Baby Candoia Fiji Boas (but not mine....)

    So I'm still waiting for my own batch of baby Fiji Boas, but in the meantime my friends at Paradise Resort on Taveuni Island (Fiji) have had a wild caught female give birth in one of their tanks. 27 live born, no slugs. They seem to come in three colours - gray/brown, orange and almost black...

    Candoia - Fiji boa gravid?

    This is my friend's large Fiji Boa female, mated to one of my small males back in October 09. See thread posted then: http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/forums/showthread.php?t=150267 I was hesitant to declare it successful, as I didn't see ovulation, never recorded a shed at the right time, and...

    Do you have photos of boa teeth?

    Odd request time.... I am putting some educational material together to try and show people that Boas are not trying to kill them at every opportunity. Here in Fiji the normal response to finding a snake in the wild is to kill it, or to "defang" it by getting it to bite on a stick and then...

    Shedding in sinc?

    Do snakes shed in sinc when kept in groups? I ask because I currently have 10 snakes (all the same species) in pretty close proximity, and currently 4 of them are blue at the same time. Normally they shed every 3 months or so, so that's quite a coincidence. I've never kept this many snakes...

    Please recommend snake vitamin supplement

    I'm looking for a vitamin supplement for snakes (Candoia Fiji Boas). They normally eat whole geckos supplemented with human-grade chicken portions (mostly wing portions, with skin and bones), weekly. Occasionally I run out of geckos, and I wonder if anyone can recommend a vitamin supplement I...

    A suggestion to help prevent ancient threads being rejuvenated

    I was just wondering whether it would be possible to post the date of the inital post next to the name of the original poster in the forum listings? (as is done for the most recent post). It may prevent people inadvertently digging up long dead threads - I know it's there on the first post when...

    Candoia - Rescue and Release in Fiji

    Here are some photos of a large female Candoia bibroni bibroni (Fiji Boa) found and rescued from a forest area being cleared for development. She was brought in to a conservation organisation here in Suva (the capital) and they called me. I fought the temptation to keep her - but I already...

    Rarity or deformity?

    I KNOW this is going to attract high feelings, but I'm really curious about attitudes within the herp community. Breeding for "abnormalities" such as albinism and stripes etc., is accepted and a huge part of the hobby. Many such come with connected issues such as risk of poor eyesight, which...
