    =====================

    I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

    So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

    But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

    Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

    I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
    Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

    And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

Hey guys,
I have a question for all of you. What was your worst Hep Bite??
For example mine was by a 10 foot BCI Which required stitching. What was yours? please dont hesitate to share.
Thanks, Cody

It's a tie between being bit in the face by an 8 foot retic,
And the last 2 pictures, which were courtesy of an angry female boa. The last picture was 10 minutes after the bite, what my arm looked like, felt more like a sucker punch than a bite really.

Ever had a 4 foot iguana do a Death roll with a chunk of your arm in it's mouth? Not fun!! It was one that I adopted and it literally launched itself at me and grabbed my forarm and rolled like a gator.

hey kylie, those bites look pretty brutal! my baby boa just bit me for the first time today 4 times!!! not bad at all but that retic bite looks painful. by the way gorgeous snake around your neck!

Actually... I had 7 iguanas at the time and 3 of them were pure evil but I had to take into consideration that I adopted them because they were mistreated and half starved when I got them so I didn't blame him at all.

I had a 5 foot female and 6 foot male that I used to take along with me in the car for rides and walked them around the parks in my area all the time... They were awesome!! You can't blame the animals for the bad treatment of some people :)

thats true most people who buy them on impulse have no clue how to care for them so they sell them when their weak and dibilitated. it is pretty cool how you can treat iguanas like dogs (with obvious acceptions of course) the nice ones admittedly are great pets!

lol, why thank you!
That "gorgeous" snake was the "little" brat who bit me! Lavender Albino.
And actually... it wasn't that painful.. The boa bite was much worse. I just almost had another ear ring hole!

I don't have a pic of the wound, but my 11 foot male retic bit me a month ago on the hand as I was cleaning his enclosure. My fault, I should have noticed his "interest", and I reactively jerked my hand when he struck. Ripped flesh on both sides of my hand, blood spraying everywhere. I just used a butterfly bandage after cleaning it with alcohol, and went back to cleaning, this time using a snake stick to keep him away. It was sore for the last month, finally healing up. I've been much more careful since then. He's great when he's out, but a devil when he's in his enclosure.

no pics of my worst bites got 3 that come to mind

9ish burm quick hit to the forearm no stitches required
5 ft blood, hit the web between the thumb and index finger and then wrapped my hand and arm, truely a funny site when he helped me un wrap the snake then tried to wrench the snakes head loose. the look on his face when i yelled no you'll break her teath, was truely priceless.
3-4 ft aligator, broke 2 fingers a metacarpel and some puncture wounds

Well I haven't been bitten yet . But I know it will come one day. Just hopeing the Burm isn't the one to get me.

Don't worry it will come soon and sorry to say but I bet that it will be your burm and they tend to hit hard. Be sure to share if (and when) it happens

My worst is from a 18 inch nile, (sissy I know but my retics never bite*shrug*) tore up my index finger on left hand.

My worst bite was from a 3.5' water monitor of mine. I use to take her with me places and she was sitting on my shoulder inside a local herp shop and my friend was standing next to me. A guy in the absolute brightest yellow shirt I've ever seen came in through the shop door and quick walked past Daisy and I and it scared the out n out bahjesus out of her and she took flight. Three people went to catch her as she was falling six feet to the hard tile floor. I was the one who caught her but she (Daisy) was the one who latched onto my middle finger on my right hand shredding parts of it and chipping bone. Put myself in harms way to try to keep her from breaking a leg or ribs or something. I don't have photos but ended up with two whole little stiches on the biggest cut which bled like mad and bruised up my whole finger and part of my hand.

I have another really bad bite but that's a LONG story. The short version is that I got tagged by a 11 foot male albino Retic (not my snake) in my right temple, that's right folks on my face. I got SO freaking lucky. But it put me in the hospital because he severed an artery I was losing a lot of blood FAST. When I did get back to my house it looked like someone had been murdered. Blood ALL over the kitchen (where the bite occurred), part of the living room (from my running to the closest bathroom) and ALL over the bathroom. I tried for 25 minutes on my own to get the blood to stop all the while I was filling up hand towels and then was rushed to the ER. Many many hours late I came home to what looked like a murder scene in my house. Thankfully working for a hospital I was able to get cleaning supplies to remove the blood and fully sterilize. I had tan colored carpet to. Any way. Those are my two BAD bite stories.

I know its horrible, but while thinking of your story Christine, I couldn't help but think of you running around squirting blood everywhere. Does this make me a sick ####?

I got bit in the eye by a 6' Costa Rican boa. Punctured my eye lid and was squirting blood everywhere. I had a black eye for a while.

If that makes you sick then I must be a real whacko! I was laughing my arse off when I got home (could have been delirium from blood loss) because all I kept thinking of was how it must of looked with blood squirting out. Swear it was like the knight in Monty Python and the Search for the Holy Grail movie. I mean it really just squirted a lot of blood out. :rofl: Shoot. Thinking back now it still makes me laugh.
