    I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

    So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

    But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

    Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

    I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Oh yeah Harald, I forgot to mention that as we spoke on the phone for around 30 minutes, he said he tried to pawn the laptop but they required a Fl. D.L. And that they were just gonna give him $1100.00 for it and wanted to trade me for my mojave spider, albino het snow and spider het albino and give me some cash with the laptop. I'm glad I looked his name up and got more posts about him. Ron
 
At this point I would be terrified of that laptop, how are we supposed to know it isn't stolen property? Not like this guy is honest or anything lol.
 
sadly I will not be trading with him based on he info everyone given here I just don't feel comfortable with such a deal. specially with the recent craiglist posting, I will ahve to get a laptop some how in the future ( cause I can't keep moving the desktop back and fort between upper and lower delaware. I just wanted somethingo t run email and forums on with a chance at watching dvds when down home.

BTW, while I do suspect that this person is probably Steven Miller, I don't really have conclusive evidence...what I do have, on the other hand, is a reasonable certainty that he is NOT Mat Jobe (and that he is quite a liar). Registering under a false name is grounds for an immediate ban.
I was going to delete all his ads; but, apparently, he knows he's busted, because he did it himself.
 
Now that I am back home, here is the important part of a recent PM exchange. *I moved one of "Mat's" last responses to the appropriate place, because he had buried it in the middle of another quote.

You don't really need a bank account - you can cash it right at the post office. Just need your ID.

Claimed that he didn't have a bank account <questionable, but not impossible>
Then it was an issue, and a great distance, to get to a post office

Oddly enough, when I went to USPS.com, and searched post office locations in Tallahassee, FL, there was one with the same zipcode (2355 CENTERVILLE RD). I plugged the address "Mat" gave me & that of the post office into both MapQuest and Google Maps....
According to MapQuest, the nearest post office is 3 mins / 1.17 miles
According to Google Maps it is 4 mins / 1.2 mi (using the same route)

Heck, even if his car IS a total junk, it would probably make that trip. I'd also be willing to bet that if a 25 yr old had a money order for that amount, he could walk his butt that far if he didn't have any other options.
IMO, this exchange presents a fairly convincing argument that "Mat" isn't his real name...or he would have accepted the money order made out in his name, and skipped the BS excuses.

Here yall go. We talked for acouple days in a row, him calling me all the times. Talked for around 40 minutes or so were the longest times. I was trying to feed some of my snakes as he was talking trying to sell me on the computer. Kid like voice too. Siad he's in his early 20's went to diesel mechanic school and working 2 jobs has a wife and kid. Then found out she was sleeping with someone, so he drove home in his monster of a truck after working the his second job at night and ran the truck through the house and said needless to say the guy can't walk anymore. I told him about my ex-wife's scenario and that I'm medically retired from the Coast Guard, then he starts on asking me questions about the C.G. and that he was thinking about joining. I can care less if people know about my life. I figure if I can help a younger person get on a better path in life by listening about my past failures, then great. But now, I'm thinking I just gave him a new life identity to use as a scam, what a jerk. Anyway, besides him trying to impress me with buying a pair of banana bp's from Africa and trying to make mojave spider albino's and how cool that would look. Oh and he has a pair of ultramel's too or maybe het's, lost focus after the banana buy. He also wanted me to ship Delta the same day as him, so neither of us gets scammed. I wasn't interested in the laptop from jump, just wasting my time listening to him, but at least we caught him, before he got someone. I've busted people down in rank while I was in the C.G. too. I enjoy catching people doing wrong. Jerks!! Ron

No way this guy texted and said his name was david i asked for a last name he said GOODRICH like the tire!! This is creepy
 
So i searched by area code to find the countys. This address that caddy gave is about an hour away or less from each other!!
 
This guy contacted me a few days ago, via PM, asking to talk on the phone. He sent me his phone number, an 850 number, and asked me to give him a call. Upon calling him he offered to trade me a visual pied het albino and a breedable size double het female as well as the computer in exchange for a proven male clown that i had listed at $1100 and a visual clown female. I dont have a clown female for sale but he said that he read in my ad that i had replaced a proven male with a bumblebee het male and just assumed that i had adult females and that his offer was too good to refuse. When i declined the offer he was very persistent that it was a good deal and that i would be making $15,000 snakes this year. He said he was trading these snakes because he had just bought some albino pieds and no longer needed the het pied. Kind of threw some red flags up when he claims to have bought several animals that he claimed are $15,000 a piece but still needed to haggle with a used computer for a $1100 male.

This is one thread where I have to say KUDOS to those who keep it going no matter how tiresome the repetition. This guy will run out of avenues thanks to the BOI and the tenacity of those involved in it. Thanks to this site, true scammers in this industry will eventually either turn over a new leaf, or hit a brick wall!
 
So to fallow up on this situation with the prank calls and texts. I ended up calling the police, they tried to call the number back but no one answerd go figure. The officer left a message and a statment not to text or call any more or charges would be pressed. I also called the number it is a young male voice on the answering machine i can not make out if it is his or someone elses because it is so short and also a prank says "hey you thier... got ya" I would be carefull if you get any calls or texts call the authoritys promptly.
 
Interesting connection .... here's a Craigslist ad for an RTB in Ocala & the 352-459-9406 number Barbie posted - this seller also in need of a vehicle.

I'm not sure why all of this is showing up here, in this thread...has this number been associated with with Steven Miller or "Mat Jobe". So far, all I've seen is Barbie making the jump because she got a text from some guy named David, then a bunch of other posts.
I'm all for making connections, nobody has shown anything to back this one up.
 
Thier is no possible way that this guy who lives so close to steven, matt, dan who ever this guy is!!!! Would just out of the blue start texting me desgusting stuff without motive. I feel that even if this guy is not steven or matt jobe or who ever, that thier is a connection!! How would "Brandon" get my number if he is not part of fauna? Its a wierd situation!!
 
lol - while there may be some value to that, I could also liken it to someone saying that there is some connection between me and Rich Peterson (or any of the other members in my immediate area), simply because of our geographic proximity.
Regardless, I hope you get it straightened out - hopefully the call from the polic did the trick.
