    =====================

I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.
  • Responding to email notices you receive.
    **************************************************
In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

where do you order your bugs from?

I tried reptilefood and had a bad experience. First teh order was infested with ants....I brought the boxes in from teh UPS guy, right into my reptile room...as I was opening and unloading I noticed ants running around...I smushed them thinking nothing of it till I noticed it was getting worse....They were streaming out of the mealworm box. I had ordered 5,000 medium mealies and 1,000 large. Opening the medium box I realized the count was very low and more then half had pupated into aliens, yet the with the large order of mealie, non in the box had pupated....which made no sense to me as I would think large mealies would pupate quicker then mealies. Repeated email to them received no response. My cricket count was also low.
Previously I ordered from Superwormfarm. Since I lived about 3 hours away it was great. Shipping was $5 and got to me the next day. Then suddenly shipping went to $20 for the same service.
Now I am with Southern Cricket and couldn't be happier. Customer service and prices are very good and competitve. I recently had an ordered delivered to a petstore by mistake (DHLs fault) and the Pet Store lady signed for it and wouldn't give them back to me when I went to pick up the package(When I called DHL about not receiveing my shipment they foudn out what happened and let me know right away)....the police are actually in on it as she then turned around and sold my shipment netting over $400 in profits....The pet store, All About Pets, is in PA in Red Lion on Capehorn Rd, if anyone is local to me and the owner, T. Arnold is being investigated for the theft of my shipment....even after she signed for it she is denying she ever received it and lied to my face...anyways, this isnt about that....Southern Cricket sent a new order right away free of charge and Donna, at Southern, has been so helpful. The overcount is amazing and we all love overcounts!. I'd use Superwormfarm as well, except for their shipping rate hike. So I recommend Southern Cricket. I wish I had good things to say about reptilefoods....but since they wont respond to my emails, I really cant.

Used Armstrong when I bought my feeders. There are 2, I used the group out of Glennville GA. I now breed all my own feeders...much cheaper, convenient, better quality control!

how do you feel.

How do you feel when you order mealworms and find a few pupa in the shipment? Does it bother you or not? And could I see a few photographs of the packaging that are used for the feeders, worms and crickets. I am trying to get into the business of feeders here, and so far having moderate success with superworms and mealworms, wouldn't try crickets yet. There is someone else that is filling that gap.

Thanks

Paul

What about switching from crickets to roaches? Say Blaptica Dubia or something like that.

Hmmm I use superwormfarm and I use the cheapest shipping method. While I can not remember exactly how much, allthough I will check in a few min, I do know it isn't 20 dollars and it either gets to me the next morning or 2nd day if I order late in the day. Just this week I got 500 small mealies, 500 medium, and 500 medium crickets. Not 1 dead bug.... not a one!!!! I love them :)

On another note.... I am interested in the roaches. Is their a good site I could be directed to? I suppose I could google it .... but I am lazy ;)

I use:

reptiledirect.com for mealies, 10,000 for $32 delivered (they have lesser but I haev a lot of mouths to feed)

nyworms.com (kingsnake special not on the site, hate it but its a good price) $33 for 2000 super worms delivered

Ghann.com for crickets $39.00 for 2000 1/2" and 1500 3/4" delivered

Never had any problems with any of those. I did get an order of mealies one time mostly dead and it was replaced with a HUGE overcount the next day.
