    =====================

I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

I would like to see your big old'uns or read about them. My oldest is 4years old and 6'5" last time I attempted to measure her. Her name is Empress Ish Tish, she is hypo, het albino, het anery. She is still young but she is my biggest!!

Second biggest is her mate Big Chief! My albino het snow male. He is 6' and 3years old. He is a sweet heart!!

Here is a pic of both when I first introduced them, back in Febuary or March

Can I see yours?

My biggest/oldest is also my very first snake, Speckles. He's 17 years old, definitely male, approximately 8-9 feet long but surprisingly lightly built for his length (25 lbs or so).

He's a regular Columbian boa constrictor, from the days before there even *were* boa morphs available - the very first albino boa breeding was reported by "The Vivarium" (who else remembers that?) about 6 months or so before I got him. He's also got a custom cage, because back in those days, the only folks selling big reptile cages was Neodesha Plastics, and even those weren't big enough for him.

At 17, he's still going strong, too - devouring rabbits with gusto, still fit & strong, and still with a bold, shiny pattern.

Fingers crossed, I'll have him for another 17 years, or more. He's never had a significant health issue, so I'm optimistic about the next 2 decades.

My biggest and oldest boa was a 9 1/2 ft female that I rescued in early
2009. I had a lady call me and said she had a 12ft 80lb boa, who will miss that? Well, I get there, she is covered in mites, respitory infection from you know where and extremely lethargic. She wanted $800 for her, lol. She had the original receipt which dated back to 1991, which made her 18 years old when I got her. I offered her a good home and pointed out all the health issues and she ended up giving her to me. So I get her vet checked, in 2-3 months she is doing tons better. She ate rabbits like they were chocolate. She measured at around 9 1/2 ft, weight when I got her was 32lbs. She weighed almost 40lbs when she died this past winter. The vet told me she died of natural causes but I don't know. She was such a great snake, will go down in my record book. What sticks out the most in my memories is the size of her head! It was as wide as my fist! I should of taken more pictures of her.

I believe you do. Some people don't see how we can love or become attached to no fur animals, but to be honest I'm more attached to my reptiles, than any cat I ever had!

My biggest, Lucky...

I've had larger ones in the past (no pics, sorry) but they were old school Colombians @ 11 to 12 ft and 45+ in weight. You don't see them get that size much any more, probably due to selective breeding or something.

Rich, sorry about Aurora. I recently found her story, in office blotted and wanted to send love and respect your way. Although I wasn't going to open up old wounds. So I send them now! I wouldn't say the pain will get better, because I honestly don't know if it will! BUT I will offer a shoulder if you need it!

MJ is a hotty! How old is she? What does she eat?

Nice girls Rich! I know what you mean about large columbians, there aren't too many around. When someone says they have a monster it usually isn't over 9ft.

Oh that sucks Steve. Lol well go get pics of the biggest boa now lol

This is my biggest girl I have now, she is over 9ft and around 30lbs. Her name is fitting, "big momm", also one of my best snakes for taking out to schools and meetings. Sorry about the pictures. Took these when she was first in my collection and the digital camera at the time sucked!

Cost of prey isn't too bad. I buy in bulk from Rodent Pro, I end up paying $1.75 for XXXL rats, which she may take 3-4 of them every 14 days. OR she may take a 2-3lb rabbit, which I have a guy locally that breeds meat rabbits for $5 any size. When she takes a rabbit she goes 21-30 days before eating again.

Big BOAS, small BOAS, normal or morph BOAS! They all rock, and are worth the cost of feed lol
