    =====================

I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Uh. Eggs. Totally Unprepared!

So, Alicia, what is your plan for incubation? (might as well start thinking about that now, lol.)
You know I'm old school...vermiculite & water. If you go that route, I can help you set it up.
If you opt for a substrate free method, you may as well get start getting advice now.

The incubator is 3 ft long - yes, a cooler - but it can fit lengthwise or sideways, depending on where you want to put it.

definitely Vermiculite and water will be fine and is what ive always planned on doing, im having someone go pick that stuff up today at tractor supply co. * im stuck at work :ack2: *

Is this not hwo it always works though. SOme try try try get nothing. Some doo it without knowing. lol.....

Sounds like you are going to be fine. I am excited for you too. There is nothing better then hatching out little babies! CONGRATS!

LOL right?

Here im worried if ill even have eggs when i decided to breed this coming year, and now, i have them when i really wasn't expecting them!!

Thanks Gary! And everyone, again!
ive calmed down now. Now im just getting my crap together and getting something put together to incubate them. ( harald, i may not need your Incubator afterall, since i have my own cooler and theyre simple to build!) I ordered the flex, and im getting the vermiculite tomorrow/today now to just get a t-stat and get the thing running at stable temps. hectic hectic :) But i can do this

If you set it up right, there will be no problem getting it running at temp...I'll try to catch up with you in chat or something to explain.

Oh...I've got an extra Herpstat & all kinds of flexwatt, if you are going to build your own. I can get that to you TOMORROW

That would 100% awesome, youre in chat, but busy i think. but I can definitely do that and drive most if not all of the way to save you the gas. ( my car is better on it anyway!) ^_^ if you dont have my number to figure out times tomorrow, just let me know.

Thank you a BUNCH harald!

But it will be hot & sunny, and I have a motorcycle, lol

You want it to be hot & sunny??
What do I get if I can make it happen? Buy me lunch???

Well i added some moss around mom, slightly moistened to keep up the humidity. Eggs still look great, and no dimpling or anything. Moms hugging those things like her life depends on it!

Took a second to distract mom with my hook, and quickly candled two of the eggs with a flashlight and i saw Veins! i didnt want to stress her out going for the third one, as i just wanted to get the moss in, and me OUT!

^_^ If these little ones hatch, i will certainly be naming one "Murphy"!! ( thanks for the suggestion john! ha)

I really do wonder who "dad" is.... All i have are Het males ( possibles for some though) and the two codoms... so, either double hets or Spider or Pastel, Possible hets. Sheesh!!!

Thanks to Harald, i have the eggies set up in my own incubator now, complete with his Herpstat, that hes letting me borrow *THANKYOU!!* and Flexwatt ( i had ordered some, and its on the way, but *shrug* its OK)

I have them in perlite with an even ratio ( weight wise) of water/perlite. The incubator is set up at 88.7 ( its warm in my room, and i wanted to leave room for variation, just in case!) but it seems to be staying perfectly steady now! I have a second temp probe, in with the eggs as well, just to keep watch on the temps inside the egg box too.

I washed up mom last night in a warm water bath, who was ALOT thinner than she looked. She looked almost hollow at the rear end, and it just made me feel so horrible for her! And I washed her tub and hide and water bowl REAL well and gave her new bedding.

I figured, she needed food, so i ran down to the store and got two mice ( i wasnt 100% sure she would eat) and when i got back, i tossed one in with her. Not a SECOND after it was there, she snapped it up and constricted, then ate. She did this with both of them, so i feel ALOT better now that she has at least eaten something! Hopefully she will keep this up!

That hollow look after the eggs is perfectly normal~ they all look like that when you pull them off the eggs~ so don't worry about that!

Congrats on the eggs! Good luck!

Hey thanks Cheryl!

That is good to know, i suppose this kind of info is good to have and probably comes more with experience than everyday discussion :) Its something i had never really heard about, other than them looking a little deflated, but i wasnt really expecting that look!
