    =====================

I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

Alright, so over the winter one of my racks had died, so i had to buy new flexwatt and such.

But in the mean time, i double housed a few of the snakes, Males with Males, females with females. Or so i thought.

Turns out, one of my male Het albino ball pythons, ended up being a female ( as i later probed her, and i think posted a thread on here about it)

Well. She laid eggs today. Not quite sure on how many, i haven't moved her, because frankly, im terrified to* i dont want to mess up the eggs, and i have nothing for them!*. The temps in my rack ( i checked again heather! i was in a rush the first time!) are 85 on the hot side, where she is, but ive since turned the T'stat up a bit to get it a bit warmer, at least until i get a temporary incubator set up.

But of course, i forget which male i stuck with her ( either the pastel or the spider * I THINK * ) but really, it could be any of the males at this point.

So. Im freaking out, just a bit. but excited at the same time!

No pictures, not right now, i dont want to bug her. but maybe down the road.

Basically, im looking for any tips, or advice if i should just let her incubate them in the rack, with raised temps ( ill do the best i can) or if i should pull them once i get an incubator set up. * im going to be in a mad rush to get all that stuff too!!! UGH!*

I was totally not ready for this!!!

Whoa! What a happy conundrum! Congrats in any case Alicia, hope all works out well!

I think you should name one of the male babies you get 'Murphy'!

Thanks john!

she was not very big either, i think she was 900 something grams when i last weighed her? and because i havent kept steady records and just went by memory on feedings and shedding and such, i cant just look it up and know. ( this has taught me a lesson.....*hits head on desk*)
So.... im seriously surprised that she laid, and actually pretty mad at myself for not noticing ANYTHING..... Im just glad shes, visually OK.

theres nothing i can do tonight, other than i moved her to the top of my rack where its a bit warmer ( she was in one of the bottom three tubs of my big white rack), and filled her bowl to the brim with water to keep the humidity up.

Don't get things too warm, Alicia...mom can do her bit to warm the eggs, but she can't cool them down if it the temp goes up.

The only clutch in my incubator is going to hatch any time...after that, you are welcome to borrow it, if you want to.

Oh my goodness i would seriously appreciate it Harald!!!!

What would you recommend me to keep them at in her tub?( or anyone at this point) At least just until i can borrow your incubator thankyouthankyouthankyou!

Keep her at her normal temps. She'll handle the rest.

What a nice surprise.
Don't worry, if the clutch that hatched here last month made it (that was a sunken in bunch) then you should have no problems. The mother will handle it. Just keep the humidity up in the tub.

I'd be more worried about humidity then temps. I was just reading a thread where someone had lowered his bator temps down to 86 and the babies were hatching out fine.

For humidity - get some spagnum moss damp and put it around her, but not touching the eggs. Mist the moss every couple days, don't get water on the eggs....

Good luck!

LOL true!

Thanks steve :) It feels better now that ive seen a few responses, and maybe i wont do as horrible as i was thinking i would. This is my first "clutch" after all... Ever.

I feel a little calmer...

Wow, talk about a happy surprise, Alicia!!!

I agree to worry about the humidity more than the temps....depending on what kind of substrate you have her on, just a good misting around her area daily should hopefully take care of it....

I think if it were me, I would do my best to get them set up in an incubator if you can though...with her being that small to begin with, I'd be worried about her not eating for as long as maternal incubation takes. But, that's just my thoughts.

Best of luck, whatever you decide! I'm sure they will turn out just fine, and just think....BABIES!!!! :)

How do you guys think she looks, i think she looks a little thin ( also has not been eating for me, Guess this explains it..... ) *sigh*
000ffeyq

From what i can see, three eggs total, i didnt see anymore on top. but shes also pretty coiled up and im not moving her for right now.

Just thought you guys would like some quick pics. Thank you for the quick help, seriously, i appreciate it so much! You all rock! Im not through the woods by any means yet :( *nervous*

They do always seem to look pretty "deflated" after laying....

The eggs look nice and fat though! ;) And she looks like a proud mama!

Start thinking about which incubation method you want to use, lol.
You know I'm old school - vermiculite and water - but if that's the way you want to go, I can help you set it up.

Be warned - my incubator is about 3 ft long

How wide? ( so i can make room both ways!) what is it? a cooler?

I think i would feel better incubating them in a bator. Im going to make a trip to tractor supply and see what i can find there though too. I think theyll be alright in the rack for now, but i want to get them into a bator as quickly as possible, for the moms sake more than anything, i really want to get her washed up and feeding again asap.

I Feel bad bugging her, but I added some water on the aspen around her ( but not a ton, and not enough to go near the eggs) God, im such a horrible noob to this!!!!
I got one LAST pic. The eggs look pretty good, but mom is NOT happy with me.

Shes going to be left alone now. But i think they will do OK for the time being. Granted, its only been a few hours ( i checked her yesterday, NO eggs till today!) so i guess well see.

Wish you the best of luck on this! There is enough people here to help, that is for certain.I cant wait to start bredding mine in the fall.

So, Alicia, what is your plan for incubation? (might as well start thinking about that now, lol.)
You know I'm old school...vermiculite & water. If you go that route, I can help you set it up.
If you opt for a substrate free method, you may as well get start getting advice now.

The incubator is 3 ft long - yes, a cooler - but it can fit lengthwise or sideways, depending on where you want to put it.

You can replace all the aspen bedding with damp sphagnum and create a next box for her until you get your incubator set up. Make sure the sphagnum isn't too wet by squeezing the water out. I, too, would be more concerned about keeping up the humidity in your circumstances. Also, I wouldn't bump up the temps--better to err on the low side than the high.
You may consider picking up a hovabator--inexpensive and easy to obtain--while you are waiting for a real incubator. I keep one around just as a spare.

Good luck with them and Congrats!
