    I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

    So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

    But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

    Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

    I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

OK, my closing date for the house I bought was delayed again. So, it is quite possible that I may have eggs by the time the date hits and I have to move out of my current place and into my new home. Any idea's how I can transposrt the eggs so they are not killed? I live in NY, and so it is sure to be pretty cold. Any idea's? The distance between the places is only about 5 min or so...but still.. Anyy idea's maybe?
 
If they have in an incubator i imagine it is good enough to keep the heat stable for 5 minutes. Cody said that his homemade incubator held a stable heat and only dropped 1 degree in a week of not having it plugged in. So if your incubator has good insulation you should be alright to travel five minutes.
 
Well.....
If you can afford to purchase a ac/dc converter to plug into the car's cigarette lighter, you can plug your incubator into that. We took an incubator with 3 eggs to Virginia from our home in Philly. The eggs hatched while we were in VA, so the ride didn't bother them.

Just a thought, I think they run about $30 bucks or so. My wife is athsmatic, so we need one for her nebulizer, so we had one anyway.

If it is only a five miute drive then I would uplug the incubator right before you are ready to transport it and wrap it in a blanket for extra warmth and then just make sure that it doesn't get jostled around. on the brief ride to your new home.

I just transported around 20 eggs for 80miles in their incubator a couple months ago. Just make sure the cars heat is on and warmed up before putting them in. They should be fine. I did lose one egg though, but I think it was from the car ride itself not the temp that did it. Make sure the incubator is secured good and watch for big potholes in the road:)

you can get heatpack too, that would keep it warm in there.

Well it’s not that well insulated. The power went out and it dropped 1 degree in less than an hour. It was my male incubator so it was pretty warm to being with.

Gurnham4 has a great idea using the heat packs. If the power is out for an extended period of time I’ll open a couple and pop them into the incubator. They won’t heat it like the power being on but they’ll maintain a good temp. All I need to do now is get the generator wired so it’ll run my room…
 
last time I went to lowes they didn't sell the heatpacks, but I know amazon.com sells a few re-usable heatpacks (I can send you links if you want) which are only good for power outages if you have a gas stove (you can just boil the heat pack in water and it'll stay warm for a long time).

does anyone know of any stores that sell the heat packs (re-useable and one time use only). It's been awhile since I have needed to buy any and I want to get some this year
 
Check the sporting goods stores/depts. I have some real nice ones that have a little disk in them that you bend to activate. Then you boil them afterwards so they are ready to use next time. I got them for bowhunting at WalMart but that was several years ago. They still work though and stay warm for about 2-3 hours.
 
I had one of those too (with the disc and the sodium water stuff that'd activate and make the pad get really hot). The problem with those is that well they break pretty easy. I had one break on me and when I went to clean it up in the mircowave I got "burned" (no skin was actually damaged but that stuff hurt ALOT) They just aren't very stable and with any risk of it poping and possibly even burning your leo, I don't know. I'm just glad that it bursted at my house and not at the reptile show where I got my females (it was very cold that day)
 
Always better safe than sorry when dealing with your Leos. I have had mine for almost 10 years now and use it each hunting season. No problems with it. But with mine you can not use the microwave. You have to boil it.
 
mine also said you could put it in the microwave, but I guess it just got old and just bursted.
