    =====================

    I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

    So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

    But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

    Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

    I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
    Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

    And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

I know it's a little early but I'm curious if anyone has done this breeding before and if so, do the two "hidden genes" produce a fatal combo?

Any thoughts and speculation are greatly appreciated!

I don't think they have ever used platinums....I'm fairly certain just recently he mentioned that he has only bred his "hidden gene" lessers into the HGW's to get soulsuckers.....paging anyone form NERD or Raphy to chime in on this.

Well the hidden gene lesser is the platimum. No lesser has a hidden gene. Just the normal offspring from a platty breeding. But I'm sure you know that with two powerhouse animals like that. :)

Actually the Hidden gene lesser's produce soul suckers, your talking about platinums. These are 2 very differant genes. As to the OP's question, not a clue

NERD marklets their line of lessers as hidden gene lessers. That being said...they are a product of a lesser to Queen Belinda, which was bred in Africa by Noah.

There's no reason to believe the two hidden genes would be fatal. The Super Woma is fatal, yes, but that may or may not have to do with the hidden gene. (Are the Pearls hidden-gene Womas at all?)

There's nothing extra special about hidden genes that would make them more susceptible to fatal mixes. They're just...hidden. Not obvious on the outside. Other than that, they're just your run-of-the-mill genetic "abnormalities" that produce nifty patterns/colors.

There aren't any hidden genes in the HGW, it's just a moniker to differentiate between your run of the mill, nothing special, 200.00 dollar woma. HGW x HGW produces pearls which fail. That being said, some people theorize that the same gene that is resposible for producing the soulsucker might in fact be the het platty gene. While there are huge variations in soulsuckers, some are theorizing that the very dilute look to some soulsuckers are in fact a platinum HGW.

HGWs produce something very different when bred with a HG Lesser than normal Womas, which means there's some kind of "hidden" gene going on.

But NERD used a Lesser x HGW to get Soul Suckers, and as far as we know, the het Platinum gene is allelic to the Lesser gene, which means Lessers cannot have the gene. It's possible that the genes are related, but I highly doubt it's the same gene.

I would say the combo is not lethal I can't wait to see what this pairing produces for you though so keep us updated :thumbsup:

Not true from what I understand - The HGW is a single co-dominant gene that just happens to look like a Woma. And since they were given a crappy name (HGW) people get confused and thing there really is a hidden gene. In the beginning it was thought there was a hidden gene but then later found it's just a different gene altogether, not related to the Woma. It should be Type I and Type II Woma (which I've seen a few people adopt, thankfully.)

The Pearl is the super-form of the HGW (or Type II :p) Womas don't have a (visible) super, they are dominant.

I don't know anything about Kevin's HG Lesser's, but he's even guessed (in his ads) it might be the same thing as the Platty gene. So who knows on that front for now :p

OH! Well, that explains it! I like the Type I/Type II idea; it helps keep people like me from getting so confuddled. :p Thanks for clearing this up! Hee hee, just when I think I'm finally understanding something.... :D

Now I have more Type I/II things to remember.... Already get a bunch of Type I/II astronomical objects confused (Seyferts, AGN/QSOs, supernovae, radio galaxies). :ack2:

haha, I know! I'm pretty sure that's right, from all that I've read from other breeders and it just makes more sense. Brian at BHB says he's bred regular Womas to each other and not gotten anything special... (I never talked to him, but that's the story I read :rolleyes:)

I think we should all start saying Type I/Type II... force it to catch on :yesnod:
