    =====================

    I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

    So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

    But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

    Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

    I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
    Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

    And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

This is how my year is starting....

She is my 8ft circle back, last time she bred, 2 years ago, she had 32 live, 2 slugs. This year I am proving out my male super hypo with her, hoping for all hypos, fingers crossed. Look at her size! She is larger around than a football, I can't fit two hands around her. I am excited, last year I didn't have any females get this big. Wish me luck!

Oh, I'll post the pics of the litter, believe me. You know something strange I have noticed with her that is different than any other female I have came across? Female boas that are prego have a higher body temp than normal, which I have found is usually around 86-88 degrees, this female on average is about 89-90, and those are temps that are consistentm, even when she is on the cool side. I am hoping it means a bigger litter. :)

Its gross to look at her from the side, her ribs are all, well, I won't get into details. I just feel sorry for her. I would not be suprised to see 40 little ones in this litter.

Yikes. I wouldn't get too close to her back end right about now. When's she due?

Well.... going off her last shed and ovulation, I would of projected by the end of Feb, but we are there now, and no sign yet. She did take a small meal 2 days ago, she hadn't been eating, so it could be anytime. I am hoping she goes before next weekend, March 5th I am leaving state for a few days and would hate to leave with her still prego, my wife would freak if she had to deal with it.

By the way, something else amazing about this girl, she has not shown any aggression through this pregnancy. Cage cleaning, even though I keep it to a min. when they are prego, when I have had to do it, she let me scoot her over to clean, AND I occasionally rub her back, when I do that, she tilts her head up like a dog does when you scratch there back, its crazy, lol.

Very cool Jeremy, best of luck with her!! Can't wait until next year when I get in the Boa Breeding mode.

OMG, my first thought was "she is going blow" Wouldn't you like a back rub if you where caring that many babies around???? I am not surprised her temp is higher all those little wiggling ones and the strain it is putting on her body. Could it also mean she is close to having them? I know in some animals an elevated temp is a sure sign of labor.

Boas tend to have a higher internal temp when they are pregnant, now I have seen that temp be on average between 86-88 as a consistent temp, even with my female last year that had a big litter, her temp in the last week averaged about 87. It might mean she is close, she is over 100 days, so maybe it is, I don't have the day exact, but the end of Feb should be it. We will see.

lookin' great Jeremy, Congrats!! I hope your super proves out too, that would be awesome. A litter of all hypos maybe with some getting mom's circle back pattern... sweeeet. :)

I've heard female's temps go up around the last week or so but I don't know if that's true. Sometimes if you feed a boa near the due date they'll drop the young when they try to go to the bathroom (I don't feed during the last 4 weeks) but since it sounds like she's already over 100 days, you should be fine. :) Can't wait to see what she gives you! (I'm going to guess 36 babies and 4 slugs, let's see if I am psychic LOL)

She was acting weird last night. About the feeding: My information is not solely based off one book or person, more of a micture of all and what works for me. But what I have found, offering a half the size as normal prey item every 2-3 weeks to a prego female can sometimes help give them the energy needed AND I have also found that in the last days/weeks of prego, if a female isn't eating, and then eats in the last week or so, its usually a sign she is about to have them. Like for instance, my female, before she was prego, she weighed 28lbs and is just shy of 8ft, a slown grown female only been bred once untill now, would take eighter a jumbo rat or a small rabbit, I usually alternate between them, so now I am just offering her a medium rat. She is normally a pig, and eats once every 10 days, now that she is prego, she has been eating about once a month. But I do know the risk of premature birth, so I only feed her if she lets me know she is hungry, and she has her ways.

Good luck! Although it looks like you won't be needing it. LOL She looks like she's gonna have a real nice litter alright.

April makes a good point about the feeding. I've read more then once about Boa popping a few preemies out while defecating. Not saying don't feed her. It helps them bounce back immensely. But it can be a risk the last month of gestation. Just FYI.

I'm gonna go ahead and predict she'll drop 35+ babies, but not before you have to go. It's just how those things work. :rofl:

I am aware of the risk. I am still undecided on how I feel about it. I know there are mixed feelings about it. It's one of thise thing where I know what the drawbacks are, but then again she was starvin. I have had her for quite some time and she lets me know when she is hungry - its weird, we are close, lol. I appreciate all recommendations and believe me, I do not just ignore them, I take them all into consideration.

She hasn't yet. She is moving all around the cage and showing signs of it getting close. Her breathing is getting more intense, like she is really uncomfortable. I have to go out of town this weekend, as luck would have it you know she will be having them while I am gone, lol. I have my brother on call to shoot over to my house if my wife finds any little ones. I will post pics and let all fo you know, believe me. I lost my records when we moved, so I am guessing when she is do, I projected by end of Feb, but obviously was wrong. I have all my records saved on computer now, but still doesn't help me now!
