    =====================

    I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

    So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

    But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

    Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

    I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
    Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

    And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

When I see them loitering by my local KFC I always try to stop and harass them. It was rough today though, I ate so much free chicken I could barely move.

Anyone have any sign ideas? Remember they need to be kinda clean so I don't go to jail. So far all the cops that drove by just laughed or gave me the thumbs up.

That's Awesome!! You need bolder type lettering so it will be weasier to see for those that are across the street.

It was a quickly made sign, trust me I will have a better one in a few days. I also have to make it out of cardboard. The spare chunk of melamine got heavy after a few hours.

PETA people really love it when you print this on a sign:

People
Eating
Tasty
Animals

Three cheers for Al. I've never done the sign thing, but I will say something to them when I pass, in car or on foot. They are trying to get people to boycott, and I'm sure some do, but the irony is if I see them protesting a KFC I'll go eat there on purpose. Same thing if they are in front of a Petco.....and normally I boycott Petco's, but I go in and sometimes even buy something just to protest their protest. I also use the saying that Bill or Amy pointed out, though I don't know if you could use it as a sign during a protest, as it may be copyrighted or registered or something.

Keep up the good work!!

I've always wanted to make a sign that says: the "A" in PeTA stands for Al-Qaida. Maybe that will drive the point home for some people.
Or you could go to Clay Davenport's web site. He has an awesome summary of what these "people" are up to (financially and idealogically). Ask him if you can make some copies of his page, then hand them out to people as fliers.

I have only seen one peta protest and it was here in Champaign. They were boycotting a local restaurant. Several women got butt naked and then sat inside of a couple of dog kennels alongside the street. And, when I say butt naked, I mean not a stich of clothing!

I was walking with a buddy of mine and when we approached I just had to take the time to inform them that KFC had bigger breasts then they did but they had fatter thighs. Needless to say, they were not happy. :dgrin:

If memory serves me right, the police hauled them off not too long after that. There was a 1 paragraph article about them at the very back of the newspaper.

Absolutely hillarious!!! :hehe: :hehe:

They are a bunch of irrational people who feel animal life is more important than human life. They think its wrong to have pets and eat meat. You also cannot wear leather or fur or use animals in the entertainment industry. The worst is they feel animal testing is inhumane even if we were able to find a cure for cancer by testing animals, they are against it.

If god didn't want up to eat animals then why did he make them out of meat?

Here is an exact quote from the pres of PETA. "Even if animal research resulted in a cure for AIDs, we'd be against it."

PETA are pretty much scum of the earth; they want everyone to be disconnected from nature completely. THey SAY that they respect animals, but it is a) untrue, and b) a front for funding many borderline terrorist (and some actual terrorist- Earth Liberation Front, anyone?) groups. THey definitely don't practice what they preach either. I can't stand those guys at all.

So, Al, I salute you! I would totally support you if I lived near you since I don't think PETA demonstrates anywhere around here. You gave my husband and I a great laugh today!

i get it now.....cat72 sent me a whole article on them.......they got on my nerves BIG TIME...and come to think of it...doesnt it HURT the cow when theyre not milked?....so now that i get what this whole thing is about...i support you too Al. :)

Yes. The years I spent in Idaho among the cattle up there, I can say with a deffinate that if a cow is not milked it is a problem. I have seen un-milked cows with udders so large that the cow litterally refuses to move. According to the cow rights activists, oversized udders are caused by dairy cow owners, if the cow never became a dairy cow then the cow would not produce so much milk that it is necessary that they are milked. That may be true, but if for the production of milk is the reason why the cow was produced by the farmer then milk it and be on with life.

Like this one for example:
