    =====================

I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

Superwormfarm bad experience

Superworm Farm

I probably would have counted them to Brandon if they were alive when I received them.It was so pathetic and Insulting to get a shipment like that and it was by far the worst that I have ever seen.I urge people to try the southern cricket farm, because the cricket prices are $10-$11 per thousand and the cricket and superworm count is great and always consistent.I bet you if you try them Rob you will never go back to the superworm farm.I just unpacked another order from them about an hour ago and the count and quality is just super.
Good Luck,
Brian

Wow... That is a terrible count Brandon... come to think of it I had a few shipments I questioned too... maybe I just got used to the lower count and this one was right and that's why I thought it was so many..... LOL.... how pathetic does that make me? LOL... Guess I shoudl keep a better eye on that... I hate to pay twice what something is worth...

I'll check them out Brian.. thanks. We had some arrive dead but for the most they arrived just fine. They didn't start dying until like two days later lol. Needless to say we are done with them for good.

I just wanted to add that, despite never having any direct trouble with them, after reading this entire thread about their low counts I realised that when I bought 1000 crickets from another seller, there seemed a LOT more.

I figured the second seller simply gave us more than 1000, but it's looking more likely that superwormfarm does undercount.

I've decided to take my business to cricketfactory.com instead.

Thanks to everyone who posted for bringing this to my attention, and saving me some money!

It appears they are out of business. The phone# is dead and the website down.

Website works for me, and the phone number rings, no one answers as they are closed, but it does ring.

Regardless, I still would never order from them again based on my previous experiences.....

I hadn't tried contacting them in a few month's. I guess they changed their number since the last time.

I had alwasy been pretty impressed with their counts in the past. I am a walking in customer though. I live about 10 minutes from them. I never had any problems with deaths. Just the opposite. I always had to throw out a fair amount at the end of the week. Just grew to large to feed the chams.

I am gonna try a order next week.

Are you sure you are talking about the same company as the rest of us? Your profile says you live in Canada, superworm farm is located in Pennsylvania. If you can get there in 10 minutes you are either driving way too fast, or know some great shortcuts! :)

I live in NJ, so I am able to get next day on a ground order. I have not had problems with them in comparison to others I have tried. I will say, however, that I wish more of these insect supply companies would attempt to eliminate the little potato bugs (look like little black caterpillars???) that seem to arrive with the crickets. They multiply quickly and cause me much grief when I try to feed my Leos.

I just tried Southern Cricket farm. My order came out of tennessee but arrived next day ( i am in PA). I was very impressed with the overcount on all items. No little pest bugs in with the crickets which makes me happy. Shipping was $19 where as Superwormfarm was only $5.00. Prices are similar. I always get those bugs in my crickets from Superworm farm. And while I never counted, when I ordered 5,000 mealies it just didnt seem to be 5,000. This time the shipment (same items) from Southern Cricket Farm was 5 pounds heavier then my usual from Superwormfarm. Same size boxes.Same order. Only difference was a heat pack with Southern. The order of 1,000 Supers seemed twice as heavy as the box I get from Superwormfarm. It has me wondering big time. Does Southern just have a huge overcount, or does Superwormfarm shortchange you?

Hey Shannan,
You may want to try ordering second day with southern.I was ordering and having them ship next day to me and that was a little bit expensive.I then tried having them ship second day to me,because it was less money and I still received the packages the next day.You may want to try this, because you may still get the delivery the next day, but not have to pay the exra charge for it.
I think the Southern cricket farm blows away anyone else that I have ever ordered from.I wish more people would try them and not waste their time and money on someone like the Superworm farm.It can get pretty expensive feeding reptiles over a long period of time,so why should anyone settle for only getting 400-500 crickets in a box when there should be at least 1,000.You never have to worry about the count with Southern, they always throw in exra crickets and superworms and thats been my experience with them for several years.I'm glad you gave them a try and that you could see a big difference.
Good luck,
Brian

I did order 2nd day but got it in one day!
I think for now I'll order from both to give it one more shot to compare. Superworm farm is only like 2-3 hour drive from me so that is why I lean towards them but I may be changing after this great shipment from Southern. I didn't have enough room for the 5,000 mealies. With SWF I knew the size of bin I needed for their 5,000 mealies. Amazingly enough, 5,000 mealies from Southern took up twice the space.
The fun of feeding reptiles!!!
My dog is now into mealworms, crickets, and he loves waxworms...little sucker is always sneaking them when I turn my back. Grabs a mouthful and runs....he thinks he is a Leopard gecko....

a problem

After all the rave reviews with Southern I gave them a try this week. Of course my first order I have the problems :shrug01: LOL.. Half dead order of crix/worms all alive and a good count, but nothing to rave about compared to superworm farm.. Yes, I only placed a very small order just to try 2000 crix and 1000 supers which is about 1/4 of my normal order through the superworm farm with no babies eating me out of house and home. The price seemed way high at $56 bucks shipped 2 day to nj. I chose next day delivery, but the invoice said 2 day shipping, but it arrived as if it was sent over night... hmmm.... Yes count through southern looked good, but half my order was dead. I tried calling Thursday, and on Friday called and wrote email to no avail... I must use a supplier who will get replac, emts out next day if there is a mishap.. As you all know baby beardies will eat each other with no food... To those who use them do they replace bum orders like this, and about how long before they get back to you???

I have been ordering from Superwormfarm for about 1 1/2 years. The only problem I have had is with their waxworms. Most in the cups of 500, are either dying, or black and dead when they arrive. I e-mail them for a replacement and never hear back. This has happened twice in the last 6-7 months. I do not order crickets from them, as I breed roaches. I do like that they have 3 sizes of superworms. They always ship right away, and the order is correct. I just will not order waxies from them anymore..

Final verdict for me SWF is a NO-GO

and they have had problems in the past but generally always make good. Please call and ask for Dale. He is the owner and I'm sure your problem will be fixed A.S.A.P....

Good luck and let me know what happens, please.

I had to leave town for two weeks due to my job. I did however contact SWF while I was away via telephone. I did in fact speak to Dale. Final report..SWF is a definite NO-GO. Dale claimed the $18 I was credited first, (when they also asked me when to reship the supers,) was also the refund for the supers. Here is the e-mail that they sent me that I am referring to:

Ms. Guisbert,

Thank you for the order. We processed a credit of $18.00 to your account on Wednesday, January 5. With some credit card companies, there is a period of up to 30 days before the credit will shoe on your account.

What size superworms and in what quantity did you need us to ship to you? If there is a particular day you wish for them to arrive please let us know.

Our office is closed on Fridays, but you can always send us an e-mail.

Dale flat refused to refund for the supers even though this e-mail clearly shows he was aware I was intitled to both the $18 refund as they had mischarged me originally, and the replacement supers as they were DOA. I still want to try supers, and maybe roaches too, but will find someone else to order through. I will be opening a petstore in July so Mr. Dale lost more buisness then he realizes. And I learned a valuable lesson after spending $48 on 1000 cix and 1000 mealies. I did let him know, politely but firmly (and without any potty mouth too!), that thier customer service needed some serious adjustment. I also advised him that the incident would be posted on the BOI. He did not seem to care too much...

On a side note, every e-mail and phone call I made I asked them to return contact to me on my cell-phone as I do not have internet at home and did not have access to a computer without a 30 mile drive round trip. Not one time did they call me to try to rectify the problem. I made numerous phone calls and 4 trips to town to access internet and e-mail them. (Another sacrifce made for my critters, My horses, dogs, and cats now have over 300 acres to explore but I have no phone line so have to use cell phones, and the wireless company can not get a signal to the tower from our place.)

If anyone would like copies of the entire correspondence I have saved every e-mail both sent and received. I obviously do not have copies of the phone calls but the e-mails make every thing pretty clear in themselves.

Hey Cheryl,
I'm really not suprised at all that they didn't get back to you.I called these Clowns everyday for a week straight and they still wouldn't return my call. The girl who answered the phone told me that they get these calls all the time and the best that she could do was to leave them a message to call me.Once again,I'm not suprised that they get complaint calls all of the time, because they absolutely suck as a company. There are many reputable company's out there to choose from and I have had very good luck with both the southern cricket farm and also grooms farm.

I think the word is starting to get out about these clowns and they will have to get their act together pretty soon,or they will no longer have a business.I think that this is a wonderful forum to be able to share both good and bad experiences with everyone.Hopefully this will help to keep people honest and to do the right thing.
Good luck

They were good people!

I really can't speak for them now...But when we were located in PA we purchased from them. Yes, we had problems but Dale ALWAYS worked them out! I can't say what is going on with them...I'm sorry you've had problems and couldn't get them satisfied. If & when I speak to Dale again, I will let him know of this thread. Maybe that will help him get "the" act together!

I actually told him on the phone and also sent him a copy of this post. Either good or bad when I choose to acknowledge your service I inform you of the process I take. I just believe it is the right thing to do.
