    =====================

I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

This Kid has driven me crazy with emails, i think 72 in the last month.. Anyway i was setting up a trade deal with him, for his So-called Granite female Ball Python for my Yearling 04 Boa.. Well i told him i did not ship first in trades, so he finally agreed and i told him i ship through DHL, he said he would ship it out the next day by next day Air, Well he sent it through the USPS, i told him that it was illegal and besides the usps sucks for delivery, sure enough the mail came and no package.. Come to find out he did not want to spend the overnite cost so he went 2nd day air.. I got the ball the next day, it was a female but not a Granite, well it lived for about 4 days and then died. In the meantime, the same day i got the Ball i sent him the Boa overnite, well the next day they attempted to deliver, but somehow he was not home or something so they took it back to the terminal, and did not deliver it til the next day.. Anyway he said it it had a broken tooth or something was wrong with his mouth, and i told him if he was unhappy to send it back, well he said no im not unhappy i just want him to be healthy. So i left it at that, so now he wants to send him back and me to pay for the cost of his ball python and the vet bill, Does this seem Fair?? I need some input here Thanks Mike Leonard

Michael,

You said this "kid", do you know for a fact if he is a minor? It seems he never send you pictures of the ball in the first place. On the other hand, did you show him proof of the dead ball python? Has he shown you any proof of the vet bills incurred? Why don't you post the most critical e-mail exchange between both so we can have a better idea of what happened?

Regards.

here is the best pic i got of it

He said it was 2-3 foot long and it ended up being 18 inches.. I assume he was a kid by the spelling and the way he asked questions about certain things!!!

I guess

it is my fault also for not requesting better pics, but even though it was not a Granite it was still a nice looking female, so i told him i was happy with that!! But then when it just died 4 days later, makes me wonder why!!!

Why would you even do

business with a stranger when you had a preconceived notion that you were dealing with a " kid " . It never ceases to amaze me!

Jerry,

With all due respect, he's obviously already learned that lesson and is here looking for help. I'm not sure that you comment was all that "helpful".

Michael,

You may want to request a scanned copy or fax of the veterinary report. It would be important to know if what is wrong with her mouth was acquired while under your care or his. If it is something chronic you are could be partially responsible. To what extent it’s difficult to say. As far as the ball python death goes it’s a tough call. It arrived alive and you were happy with her. Then four days later it dies. Few people offer guarantees beyond live arrival or 48 h maximum. Nevertheless, it doesn’t seem you should be responsible for paying for the animal. You ended with nothing and he ended with an animal that he doesn’t because something is wrong with it. I would also like to hear some other opinions on this matter.

Thanks.

I'd say send his bp back and him send your boa back. But since he obviously does not know how to ship, it might not be worth stressing the boa.

You didn't get what you were told. It was not a granite, and is about half the size you expected. Could the BP have died from stress of being bounced around in box for four days? I know it's been quite cold here in Arizona at night and high 80's in the daytime.

Unfortunatley this might be one to chalk up as a learning experience. It sucks, I know I have been there recently. Mine bad deal was from a smaller known breeder.

Steve offered to trade my adult male Ball Python for the "granite" girl he had. It was obvious from the picture that it wasn't granite, and that it was way small. I don't think he knew what he was doing. I'm sorry to hear that you had a bad deal with him though...

It just pays to be paranoid in this buisness, huh?

I hope everything works out for you...

Michael,

What’s the status of this deal? Did he quit or does he keep sending you e-mails? Has he offered to show you a copy of the vet report? His name is here for everyone to see. There are people that will determine who to do business with in the future based on the outcome of this transaction. It thus seems unfair for us to be discussing this issue behind his back without giving him a chance to say his side of the story. Have you notified him of this thread?

Thanks.

Correct me

if i'm wrong, but i thought this was a public forum where any paying member could view!!! So i don't see how it would be behind his back, since he posts on here regularly.. How could i be so wrong, when i first heard he was unhappy i told him he could return the boa for a refund, he was the one who said he did not want to return it.. Now he wants me to send him another one, well if i was so bad, why would he want another from me??? In the 16yrs of doing sales i have never had anyone be unhappy with what they got from me.. I guess you can't please everyone all of the time :slamit:

Michael,

You may very well be the one who is right here but it would still be important to hear the other side of the story. You say he posts here regularly but his profile says something different:

Please correct me if I’m wrong but you never mentioned he wanted you to send him another boa. There’s one question that remains to be answered. Have you been offered the report of the veterinarian? What’s the nature of the ailment?

Please bear with me that I said that you were not responsible to pay for the dead ball python. Ball pythons are extremely hardy. For them to day in 4 days is extremely unusual, unless there was an accident (temperature) or a pre-existent condition.

Thanks

You are right!!

He is only a registered user, but i know he has had a few animals listed on here for sale!!

Michael,

Sorry I meant “die in 4 days”.

It’s impossible to read the picture of that report. What’s the diagnosis? Does the vet state in it for approximately how long did animal have that condition? My point is: was the condition likely acquired while in Mr. Crowe’s care or yours? It will be close enough to give the date of the report, and for how long was the boa in Mr. Crowe’s possession.

Thanks

need more info

it seems like there are way to many unanswered questions and one sided opinions to make any kind of valid conclusion. steven crows side is needed and if he does not post, nothing will be accomplished here. that in itself however doesnt say alot for him either.

I will say Mike is not the kind of guy to send out a sick snake. Steve emailed me before this trade went down and asked if Mike was trustworthy and he was about to make a deal with him. I said "absolutley" and Steve has been made aware of this post and claims to have sent his post to the webmaster.

The snake was not a granite as advertised, only 18" long instead of 2-3' and shipped priority usps mail says alot about this transaction. sounds like 3 strikes right there.
It should have been returned at that point but i'm sure Mike was happy to just get another female bp for future projects, to put a snake back through shipp after it was bounced around in a box for a few days is not fair for the snake, whos to say it would not have died back in transit and then Steve would have blamed Mike.

Mike do you have any of the emails he sent you? I wouldn't do a thing until I saw a complete ledgible vet report.
