    =====================

I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. Bad Guy scammers aqui4no

I would say the pictures from paul showing the box weighing 1.02lb and the weight on the label at exactly 1.00lb are pretty normal.
Lets say there had been an ackie in there and it would have pushed the weight up to even just 1.5lb total then the label would have been rounded up to 2.0lb as Fedex do not deal in fractions of a lb.

However there is also this to consider.
It does look like the label is a home printed one and if that is the case when you make your label online it only knows what you tell it, so you could punch in 1.0lb for weight even if box was truly say 1.7lb. The label will only show the 1.0lb entered not the true shipped weight, you would need to see a copy of the senders actual Fedex billing which shows actual weight AFTER it was scanned and weighed at whatever location it was dropped off at.

So with all that being said at this point it is still a he said/she said situation.
Without either a boxing or unboxing video at either end, either party could be telling the truth or untruths.

Somebody is going to end up being out a sum of money on this one unfortunately.

True but if you also bother to read my post you will see I said the 1.0lb on the SELF PRINTED label has NOTHING to do with actual weight of the box, it is just the figure the seller punched in while creating the label.
That I know for a fact as I create my own labels all the time and it only shows what you personally enter.

Shoot, I could ship a 10lb box and enter it as 1lb while making the label.
Then when it was scanned it would show up as 10lb IN THE SYSTEM but still the label would show just 1lb!
When my monthly bill for fedex becomes due I would see they charged me for ACTUAL WEIGHT of 10lb not the 1lb I entered.

Do you now see my point?

No problem and just to be absolutely clear I am not taking any sides here at all.
Just pointing out why the 1.0lb printed on the label cannot be taken as an absolute guarantee that nothing was shipped in the box.
As I said without definitive proof one way or another this is a tough one.
Sorry and good luck.

Paul, will Fedex give you any information at all? I know they said the sender has to file the claim, but could you request the actual weight of the package?

That's a good idea, especially since it seems the seller has no interest in figuring out what has happened to the ackie that he says was in the box. His disinterest is suspicious, if I had shipped an animal & my buyer said the box was empty, I'd be on the phone to FedEx in a heartbeat to figure out where the animal was.

If the animal escaped from the shipping box during shipment, the bag would be torn, the box would be torn also. Is the box intact on all sides? If so, then you can rule out any claim that the animal must of escaped by itself during shipping.

Unfortunately by the circumstances and responses from both sides so far, my gut feeling is that no ackie was ever shipped and the buyer has been stiffed.
That being likely he should start a PayPal claim right away, stating all circumstances so far.

And post documents of my car accident? That has nothing to do with what’s going on Chris.

It seems like one of the BOI reasons given for late reptile shipments/broken agreements/nonpayment is an automobile accident followed by hospitalization resulting in the subsequent transaction problem.
Please, drive carefully.

As you can see from the email I sent you with the pics there is no sign of escape and I also found it odd that the sender didn't call FedEx right away I called FedEx immediately and was told the sender has to call

FedEx does not like to deal with anybody bar the person who set up the shipment and paid for it, that is true.
At this stage I would go direct to PayPal, unless you paid by friends and family which i hope not

Well fortunately American Express will credit my account and do there own investigation I just hope no one deals with this shady guy if anyone has an adult female red ackie for sale please contact me

That is because as far as FedEx is concerned, the shipper, who actually paid their shipping fee to them, is really their customer, not the receiving party.

You can certainly complain to FedEx about HOW, WHEN, or WHERE something was delivered to your address, but concerning the actual package contents itself, I'm sure that will be strictly between yourself and the shipper. FedEx, as far as they are concerned, did what they were paid to do.

The problem, as I see it, is that neither side, so far, has provided any actual proof of their side of the story.

IMHO.

Do we know if the seller PERSONALLY packed and shipped the animal? It sounds like his wife/gf (?) was responding to texts after he had the car accident and she was going to be the person to ship it. I'm not saying that "Simone" didn't send it....but is there any chance the seller had a buddy send it? A less than reliable buddy maybe?

It just seems like a scam that would never work, shipping an empty box, especially if you take a payment backed up by Amex (who will probably support their customer). A person who cooked that up would likely be more on the defensive right away, and maybe have some kind of story ready. And would have wanted payment that couldn't be taken back by the buyer easily. Whoever was getting the texts seemed honestly surprised when told the box was empty.

It just doesn't seem to make sense for the seller or buyer to do this. Odd situation and really hard to tell what happened.

I'm not saying it is a scam, however, we have seen this scenario play out before:
1. Shipping empty boxes :yesnod:
2. Shipping rocks :yesnod:
3. Shipping substitute/less valuable animals :yesnod:

Not all scams are thought out very well, often times they evolve over time. Back in the day, I personally was shipped a $50 ball python instead of the $1,000 one I paid for. That attempted scam wasn't going to last very long either and my scammer played just as dumb too.

If a girlfriend/wife botched the shipping by mistake, well that means there is one extra ackie still sitting in its cage back in Omaha right now.
