    I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

    So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

    But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

    Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

    I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

I get requests now and again from members who request that I delete their account on this site. I know posting this here is a waste of time, because most people don't bother to read this area, but here goes anyway.

Sorry, but a lot of scammers wish to do this exact same thing to try to cover their tracks after they have scammed some people, so the policy here is that no accounts are deleted nor information provided by the user removed. Not saying you are a scammer, but I cannot have a policy that ONLY applies to scammers, because that in itself would be an accusation.

I am sure you may have your reasons, and they are exceptional and unique, but sorry, that is just the way it is.

One way I look at this, is that some people think they can come here, post ads or whatever FOR FREE, and then figure that they have USED this site all that they wanted to and then now want to move on and erase their tracks afterwards. Doesn't matter that perhaps deleting their account and their posts might destroy the continuity of any threads they have posted within. Doesn't matter that they want to have wasted everyone's time that might have engaged them in conversations that perhaps THEY don't want removed or altered. I don't know your reasoning, and quite frankly just do not care. Sorry, but it just doesn't work that way here. And I am certainly under no compulsion to do your bidding at your command. Especially when you make it painfully obvious that I have absolutely no incentive whatsoever to help you in any way. You obviously don't give a damn about this site, so excuse me if the feeling is mutual.

What the hell kind of bullshit is this? All i asked was how do I delete my information and you start saying about scammers and no one caring about this site. Well with the responses im getting from this is probably why no one cares. It makes no sense. I joined hoping to find new pets , but there is not many posts to choose from so I would like my information deleted and move on. I didn’t post anything or interact with anyone besides you so the whole scammer thing had nothing to do with me.

Wouldn't you think that an actual scammer would say the exact same thing?

See, that is the problem. I can't make rules that only apply to scammers, because the enforcement, as such, would imply that I were publicly calling them scammers by enforcing rules in that manner. Suppose I were wrong? Well, then, that could drag me into a defamation of character lawsuit. So it applies to everyone, equally and fairly.

Sorry if you don't like that fact, but I am getting quite used to having to do things that not everyone likes.

Ahhh so its more of another case of this is MY site i can bully whoever i want when ever i want! You are the King! The tyrant! Don’t question me or my authority! All this from a simple question that could have been simply answered without the belittling and smartass answer. No wonder this place is going down the tubes. Stuck in ancient times and the guy running the place can do as he pleases because hes the king!

Guy if you had just had thought that this site is not for me and logged out with no post's then all they had was a name and a place and no one looking.

Not the point. Would have been as simple as you say til the owner had to act like idiot right off the bat giving a ridiculous rant instead of a simple answer to a simple question

That is all i asked. The only thing I sent to anyone. So tell me how the answer you gave me wasn’t being a jerk? You had to rant like that because someone that doesn’t know this site asked you how to delete their own account.

All I did was to link you to this thread so you could figure out the answer yourself. And you believe that is "ridiculous ranting"? :rofl: Sorry if you couldn't grasp the premise that you are no one special to me, and I certainly don't owe you any favors.

Just out of curiosity, how would you classify your own posts within this thread? Name calling and profanity from you not to be discounted, of course.

Any other site on the internet if you aren’t happy with it you can delete your information and account. All boils down to, yup you are way smarter than me and can talk better than me. Congratulations i know that isn’t hard. Ya berate me im stupid your smart im dumb. Just is wrong and rude to say the things you did when all i asked was how to delete my account. The explanation of the rule would have been simple enough. But no you have to talk down to people with that long drawn out rant like you where talking to someone that has been bugging you over and over. Its just plain rude. If they hurt your feelings, well, maybe you need to toughen up a bit and realize that the rest of the world does not have to tiptoe around your fragile feelings.

I am sorry that you feel the need to make your self evident challenged mental state blindingly obvious to everyone who reads your words here. You obviously don't even have the mental capacity to recognize that the original post in this thread wasn't even about you. Matter of fact it was made a little less than a year BEFORE you even joined this site, and obviously (to any discriminating mind, at least) made in reference to others making the same request in the past that you have right now. It was establishing public comment of site policy. But YOU wanted to make this all about YOU, didn't YOU? And this further points out the fact that you didn't even bother to research in this section to try to find the answer to your own question. So I chose to point you HERE, to site policy, instead of taking my time to answer you personally about something I have had to answer countless times in the past from other people. But somehow you got it into your mind that I climbed into a time machine and made that original post on April 23, 2022 PERSONALLY all about you, didn't you?

Thats what you gave me for the answer to my question. If you are going to bitch about running a site why do it. I have no clue how this site works it makes no sense. Yup again my dumbass. Obviously thats how you like to talk to people then if that was towards someone else. If thats how you answer people no matter how many times you have been asked,no wonder you get responses such as mine. Must be nice to sit behind a computer and talk to customers that way. If gave a rant like that to new customers that all ask the same questions over and over and over there would be a shit storm.
