Hello all!
I mentioned in another thread that I picked up another gecko the other day (this makes 5
). Well, I had noticed it wasn't a very good eater, and I was getting a bit concerned. It showed no interest in chasing down prey, but has a fairly average activity level..maybe a tad below normal. Anyway, just on a whim I offered it mealworms held between tweezers, right in front of its face, and it "smelled" them and ecstatically leapt on them, and ate three in quick succession this way. This was directly after I had tossed some mealworms about 6 inches from its face and it had shown no interest.
My question is..could it be blind, or visually impaired? I have noticed it is much easier to handle than my other juveniles and moves rather methodically, making its way around more slowly than the others. Its eyes look fine to me, but in case, and if it might help, I can get a picture. It's quite a fat little thing, so I can't imagine it has had trouble eating, but it seems strange to me that it doesn't want to stalk its prey.
Any ideas??
Thanks all!
