    =====================

    I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

    So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

    But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

    Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

    I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
    Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

    And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

I went to the Phx Reptile Convention yesterday. After holding all of the BPs there and examining many many or herps, I felt very natural when handling a snake the most. I was going to go for a yellow belly female I saw with one of the vendors but but chance I walked over to Santan Reptiles and held one of thier male normal BP babes. The guy I picked up had such a great temperament, I took him home! I came back during closing time to pick him up. Hes great! Hes really not shy for a BP and once you give him a moment of quite he like to explore his environment. His belly is a little pink and his head is going gray from shed, hopefully this shed will a short not too unpleasant one. Hes fallen asleep wrapped around my neck and necklace right now. :eek:

So far ive been told im stupid for grabbing a normal male over a cheap yellow belly female. This little guy happily wrapped tells me other wise. :yesnod:
Hes doesnt have a name yet though! Ideas?

Good I pick. A normal ball python was my first. Just wait till you get your next snake. I just picked up a lavender albino female ball python for a very good price. Before you know it you will be hooked. The main reason why I love this hobby is the fellow herpers that take the time to talk and teach you. Good luck

He has yet to eat with me, I dont assume he will for maybe another week or even longer. Hes shedding and hes in an entirely new environment, but today he was very brave, Hopefully if I offer some ASF pink to him hell be hungry!

An...d there is absolutely NOTHING wrong with picking a normal! You know what you like, right? So don't worry about anyone else & what they may say.
And, yeah, there will be more

Ty for the great words guys. Im so glad I picked him too, every time i handle him I feel hes personable. Hes not afraid to get in your face (or try to slither in your mouth!) and see what your about. We tried to get him to eat last night, he wasnt feeling it but he almost went for it. Frozen isnt his thing. So today im in the car and grabbing a trio of ASFs along with some pinkies for him. I bet hes going to love it. From what I hear those things are addicting. <3

Its like Elkmillbill said, it seem to me the reptile community is so much nicer. <3
I love being able to network and get to know everyone. I dont feel lost with what im doing and I know if I ever run into trouble there are complete strangers willing to help me out.

nice baby. And I agree there is nothing stupid about grabbing a normal over a cheap YB female. Normals are very pretty in their own way. And in my opinion temperament plays a big role in deciding what snake to buy. I personally think it was a good pick and you should definitely not be made to feel bad about it. After all it is a snake you are handling and no one has the right to dictate your choice.

When I got my first one I paid 80 bucks for him thats with shipping. I never regret my decision and I enjoy owning him very much. And mine was also a normal. And I have bought some other normals for higher prices simply because I felt they were in bad situations. With the money I put into buying normals I could have gotten a really nice morph. And even knowing that I still would not change any decision that I have made in regards to buying them.

Hope you enjoy him very much.

:) Hes great snake so im happy with him and pshaw to anyone who says otherwise.
He was only $20 actually. For his quality they could have easily charges $60. His parents werent normal either. Hes actually HeT and has a few different genes in his blood.

He's gorgeous! Congrats on the new snake! Can't wait to see what you name him! How about Apollo, or Ka (from the jungle book), or maybe Eden (as in the "garden of Eden") :)

Congrats!

Congrats on your new snake! BPs are the best, and, despite all the morphs I have, I still have a soft spot for my normals. Enjoy the hobby!
