I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?
So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.
But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.
Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.
I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

I contact Mike Roe at Midwest Reptiles and Aquatics about and ad he had on K***S**KE.com for monkey tail skinks and told him I was interested.
Mikes response minutes later- yes we have what your looking for the price is 134.99 shipped, are you interested, if yes I will send you shipping info!
My response minutes later-Yes I am interested, do you have pics of the one I will be getting ( He did have pics in the add that looked good). Do you take paypal?
Mikes response minutes later- I dont have individual pics and do not take paypal. We are a wholesale company and only retail sometimes, I hope you understand. I will send you the smallest one we have, their awesome animals.
AT THIS POINT I HAD SEEN HIS ADS FOR AWHILE, PRICES WERE GOOD, ANIMALS LOOKED GOOD IN PICS, I DECIDED TO TAKE A CHANCE AS I HAD SHOPPED AROUND AND AT THE MOMENT HAD THE FUNDS FOR AN ANIMAL FROM MIKE ROE, MIDWEST REPTILES AND AQUATICS.

I also asked about the live arrival guarentee as I had forgot earlier. which he wrote back and said yes he gave 24hr live arrival guarentee. I ended up putting it in the mail tues, nov 23rd

Whishful thinking, I put the money order in an express mail box so it would get there quicker. I emailed Mike to see if he had by chance recieved the money order.

I hadn't heard From Mike Roe of Midwest Reptiles and Aquatics so I emailed him to reassure him that I had sent the money, that I was for real, and to make sure he still was holding the animal I ordered. ( I did this because I know people say they are sending payment all the time and don't) I also thanked him for his patience!

Mikes response later that day- Jason we get our mail at about 3:00, I will let you know, Dont worry, I still have your animal.
MONDAY OCTOBER 6, 2003 14 days after I sent Payment through mail
I emailed Mike Roe, Midwest Reptiles And Aquatics to tell him I talked with the money order company and they said that the money order had not been cashed and to just wait a couple more days and if it does not show up to fill a tracing/refund request of who, what, where, when and why and they would investigate. I apologized to Mike Roe if this was an inconvenience and told him I would wait a couple of days and then fill out the forms to get a refund and then paypal him the money. ( His ads on KS.com now said he takes paypal) I also took this as a good sign that he was doing alot of business and had alot of customers and needed a quicker payment process.
Mikes response- I will let you know If we hear anything on this end!
PHONE CALL
I forget the exact day but I called Mike Roe of Midwest Reptiles and aquatics sometime during the week of Oct 6 2003 and left a message for him to call me back( the day is on my cell phone just dont have it handy at the moment) he called me back and I talked to him to find out what was going on with the money order and to see what could be done, because if I were to get a refund by the money order it could take up to a cople of months. I explained to Mike my seriousness to complete the transaction and also to get a feel for what kind of person he was. We discussed the money order, the animal I was getting and what to do about completing the deal. Out of an extreme act of faith( YES I KNOW) I told Mike Roe Of Midwest Reptiles and Aquatics that I would paypal another 135.00 for the animal and to just send me the money order back when it arrived. INEVER EXPECTED IT TO TURN OUT THIS WAY.

So I decided to send payment to get this transaction on its way and to get this animal sooner and get my refund later when the money order arrived.
AT THIS POINT I REALLY HAD NO SUSPICION OR EVEN THOUGHT ANYTHING WAS WRONG. I HAD VARIOUS EMAILS BACK AND FOURTH WITH MIKE ROE OF MIDWEST REPTILES AND AQUATICS AND EVEN TALKED TO HIM ON THE PHONE WHILE SEEING SEVERAL DIFFERENT ADDS ON KS.COM form Midwest Reptiles and Aquatics COME AND GO.

I emailed Mandi Back, who was also listed on Midwest Reptiles and Aquatics site and told her I was very sorry about what happened to Mike Roe of Midwest Reptile and Aquatic's father and that I had a similar situation happen to me and understsnd what Mike must be going through and would keep his Pop's in my prayers. I also told her I would wait for Mike to get back and get my animal.

I was in a tough position but said I would wait so that I would get my animal and my refund. I knew this deal was going south but was trying to keep things positive still they had all my money. Some would say I was stupid, but they already had my 135.00 money order( or it was on its way anyday} which they could have just told me they never recieved and cashed it and kept it. I wanted my order(skink) and my money order plus I was doubting that they would refund my money at the time which apparently proved to be correct. I figured I would wait for Mike Roe of Midwest Reptiles and Aquatics return and try to resolve all of this when he got back. Sales of Midwest Reptiles and Aquatics replied with. your order is scheduled to ship this Thursday Oct/31/03 and as far as your money order, it did arrive and our business office manager cashed it by mistake. I believe the business office manager is Mandi. It was also stated that my refund for 135.00 would be shipped with my animal. I replied with thank you still trying to be positive and polite even though I wasnt being treated as their valued customer as they liked to refer to me as in their emails back. I was actually relieved as they had admitted to recieving the money order and cashing it in writing
I eMailed back thinking maybe things are legit and things will go right and said thank you again and told them I hope everything is alright with Mikes dad, I believe the only part of me that thought that was, my little toe on my left foot towards the top( That is that everything is all right.)

Midwest Reptiles And Aquatics emails me- Mike had a family emergency and upon his arrival back it was discovered that a shippment of ball pythons had mites and all the animals were now being trated and that refunds were being issued as well as a 50$ credit towards a future purchas with Midwest Reptiles and Aquatics. Refund will be sent via paypal monday or tuesday of the following week and we will be closed monday 9:00am due to treating.
LATER THE SAME DAY
I emailed Mike and demanded he send me my refund via paypal by November 3, 2003 as I am looking for a replacement animal and reminded him what I was to be refunded.

I have learned a great deal from this transaction, I need no nasty comments or to be called an idiot by anyone. This was the first time I have been ripped off and it will be the last. You do not know what it feels like until it happens to you and you do not know how you would truley react and deal with a situation like this until it happens to you. I have and am taking action so I hope something will come of this. Please dont let this happen to you protect yorself and do not say ah I'll just take a chance because the outcome may not be worth it. This situation has stressed me out greatly and caused me and my family some grief. I post here because I sincerely want to help others and make sure these guys do not do this to anyone else.
Incidently, I have been in contact with Mike Roe and he said if I send him my address he would pay me for half!!!! I am not holding my breath though!!!!!!!!

I emailed Mandi Back, who was also listed on Midwest Reptiles and Aquatics site and told her I was very sorry about what happened to Mike Roe of Midwest Reptile and Aquatic's father and that I had a similar situation happen to me and understsnd what Mike must be going through and would keep his Pop's in my prayers. I also told her I would wait for Mike to get back and get my animal.

I was in a tough position but said I would wait so that I would get my animal and my refund. I knew this deal was going south but was trying to keep things positive still they had all my money. Some would say I was stupid, but they already had my 135.00 money order( or it was on its way anyday} which they could have just told me they never recieved and cashed it and kept it. I wanted my order(skink) and my money order plus I was doubting that they would refund my money at the time which apparently proved to be correct. I figured I would wait for Mike Roe of Midwest Reptiles and Aquatics return and try to resolve all of this when he got back. I believe the business office manager is Mandi. It was also stated that my refund for 135.00 would be shipped with my animal. I replied with thank you still trying to be positive and polite even though I wasnt being treated as their valued customer as they liked to refer to me as in their emails back. I was actually relieved as they had admitted to recieving the money order and cashing it in writing
I eMailed back thinking maybe things are legit and things will go right and said thank you again and told them I hope everything is alright with Mikes dad, I believe the only part of me that thought that was, my little toe on my left foot towards the top( That is that everything is all right.)

Midwest Reptiles And Aquatics emails me- Mike had a family emergency and upon his arrival back it was discovered that a shippment of ball pythons had mites and all the animals were now being trated and that refunds were being issued as well as a 50$ credit towards a future purchas with Midwest Reptiles and Aquatics. Refund will be sent via paypal monday or tuesday of the following week and we will be closed monday 9:00am due to treating.
LATER THE SAME DAY
I emailed Mike and demanded he send me my refund via paypal by November 3, 2003 as I am looking for a replacement animal and reminded him what I was to be refunded.

I have learned a great deal from this transaction, I need no nasty comments or to be called an idiot by anyone. This was the first time I have been ripped off and it will be the last. You do not know what it feels like until it happens to you and you do not know how you would truley react and deal with a situation like this until it happens to you. I have and am taking action so I hope something will come of this. Please dont let this happen to you protect yorself and do not say ah I'll just take a chance because the outcome may not be worth it. This situation has stressed me out greatly and caused me and my family some grief. I post here because I sincerely want to help others and make sure these guys do not do this to anyone else.
Incidently, I have been in contact with Mike Roe and he said if I send him my address he would pay me for half!!!! I am not holding my breath though!!!!!!!!

You can try to contact Paypal ASAP to file a claim. Since it's been over 30 days you may be out of luck but I'd still give it a try. If you have no luck with Paypal, contact your credit card company.

Why half? I would be careful. If you accept anything less than payment in full that may be seen as a resolution to the matter. You may not have any recourse to go after the rest of your funds.

They are RIGHT for pointing at each other. They are both right when they point and say that "My partner" is responsible for the refund. Because they both are responsible for it. They both should be paying half. But if you want to get technical.
DAVE is more responsible for it.
DAVE received the money in HIS paypal.
DAVE was a partner in the company.
DAVE now owns the whole company.
DAVE used customers payments to buy the other half of the comany.
Dave bought not just the other half but he also got with his half all the creditors, debtors, lenders and customers both satisfied and unsatisfied.
So Dave should be paying up.
And judging from Dave's e-mails.............he and his business should be avoided at all costs.

mike contacted me today stating hes hired council,they are meeting wednesday, they will be contacting me? i asked him for his councils info he didnt reply other than stating his council has informed him not to speak of the matter, maybe he will sue me for wanting my money back? o feel myself snd the pther two victims have been very fair and honest in our dealings with all aid parties, maybe if mikes innocent his legal team should contact dave to finish this out? damien

I had real intelegent conversation last night with steve and he has agreed to help me out in any why he can. My name is Tony, I live in NY. I was also ripped off by these guy's. I want to know who made up the expression "Misery Likes Company", because I don't feel any better knowing all of you also got ripped off. I can't beleive these guy's have got away with this for so long and it still looks like they are continuing to do so. I guess it's because of Company's like k..S.. and P..P who refuse to tke action against obvious criminals. They are just worried about their bottom line. If there is anything I can do to help get all our funds back, please e-mail me. I will try to summarize what took place with my transaction with Midwest Reptiles and Aquatics:
On Oct 3, 2003 I purchased from Mike of Midwest Reptiles and Aquatics 2 Female Green Tree Python's over the internet for the amount of $465.00. Which I sent via PayPal.
I spoke to him over the phone to confirm the animals where healthy and what I was looking for. The number I called was (515)573-2291.
He was going to ship on Wednesday Oct 12,2003. On October 8, 2003 Mike E-mailed me saying he received some even nicer looking Green Tree Python's and wanted to know if I would like them instead. I told him Yes, he said he wanted to check them out a few extra days before he would ship them. At this point I also asked him if he had any Female Ball pythons. His answer was yes and he could sell me two of them for $75.00 and ship them with the two Green Tree Pythons. I sent him another $75.00 via PayPal. On October 14th, 2003 I called to find out when he would be shipping, and he said it was cold by him and he had to get some heat packs before he could ship. A couple of more weeks went by with numerous excuses, and then I received an E-mail from Mandi (I'm not sure who she is) saying that Mikes Father had a stroke and they would ship as soon as he returns. On October 31, 2003 I was told that upon Mikes return from Visiting his father who had a stroke, that they noticed an outbreak of Mites in the reptile room.(At this point I was starting to really feel like I was being taken advantage of). On November 3, 2003 they said they would send a refund and it would be a company check because there was a problem with paypal. On 11/9/03 I e-mailed them stated I haven't received the check yet, but if the snakes where OK I would still like to still have them. On November 14, 2003 I received an e-mail saying the animals would be ready to ship in about a week they where still being treated and where doing well. On November 24, I was told that the check they sent me was returned to them and that the snakes where doing well and they had just ate and he would ship on Monday December 1, 2003. Since then the only response I get from e-mail is:
We are currently closed for the Thanksgiving Holiday. We will Re-Open on Mon Dec.1st We wish all of you a Happy Holiday Season!

Now having Mikes number I decided to give Mike a call, I got his voice mail, so I left a message asking what was going on. He responde by sending me the following e-mail:

I received your message a little while ago. I don't know if you knew, I haven't been involved with Midwest Reptiles and Aquatics since Nov.1. I sold my part of the business to Dave. He is know running things out of his garage I guess. You are not the first person to get hold of me about this, it's seems a lot of funny things have been going on since I left. I'm currently trying to help a few others also get there money back. The best thing to do would contact PayPal and have a reversal done for the amount owed. Dave also still owes me for part of the business and I will be filing a suit against him if it's not taking care of by the middle of next week. Let me know if PayPal can do anything for you and then we can go from there. I'm glad to help where I can.

Well, Dave you must me getting Alzheimer's. When we started the business we
had to apply for a Federal Id #, do you remember? Like any business does.
It's funny you don't remember any of this stuff, how convent. I'm sure glad
I keep all paper work from Midwest Reptiles and Aquatics. Seems I DO have a
SS-4 form with both our names on it. Also, I have some mail from the IRS
that came to Midwest Reptiles and Aquatics c/o Dave Vaught and the list goes
on. Mail from All Star Pet Supply to Midwest Reptiles and Aquatics c/o Dave
Vaught etc, etc... So I guess you can't lie to all these people anymore and
tell them you weren't part owner of this business any longer. Now your
coming up with things like me tattooing minors? And you want to go to War?
Etc, Etc. Dave, I really hope you have physical proof on everything your
telling all this people, because I think your in alot of trouble. You
seemed like such a great guy at one time, now you are trying to screw people
over and even threatening me with lies about my business. I really hope you
have a GREAT attorney and alot of evidence. And you still haven't paid me
for rest of my half of the business that's sitting in your garage, etc.
It's so sad that a man of your age has come to this. I have all the
documents to prove this and you know it! My attorney and I will be filing
suit against you Wednesday afternoon, if my name isn't cleared and my funds
haven't been received.
