    =====================

    I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

    So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

    But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

    Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

    I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
    Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

    And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Has anyone had any interactions with Jeff Lazaro as either a buyer or a seller? If so, please leave some details on how it went.

I recently bought from Jeff, he was willing to meet me 1/2 so we could avoid shipping. I will definitly buy from Jeff again.

I actually wanted to purchase a few snakes he had posted a few weeks back. But when I emailed them they wouldn't give me a contact number so I left my number. I got a call from a guy that said that he was Jeff's brother and he could help me with whatever I needed. The number he called from was blocked. That struck me as being odd but I talked to the guy for a few minutes and he couldn't answer my questions said he needed to speak with his brother and would call me back. He did call back about 10 minutes later with the number blocked again. At that point I decided I did not want to continue with the transaction so I told him thanks for this time that would just pass on the snakes. I would also like to hear some positive feedback on these guys because they did have some good prices on the couple of snakes I was really interested in. Never had anyone that was trying to sell something conceal their phone number?

I too dealt with his brother at some points during the deal also from a blocked number. I wasn't concerned about the blocked number at all & my dealing with both Lazaro's went great.

A past buyer had made us aware of this thread and I wanted to clear up some stuff before any crazy gets started.

My brother Ryan and I both breed and sell snakes. However, due to space issues, I keep the ball pythons at my house and my brother keeps the carpet pythons at his house. Since we have more interaction with the species at our respective houses, we usually defer to each other if we have a buyer inquiring about a specific species. We agreed early on that we wouldn't make any discount decisions without talking with the other. When Paul spoke with Ryan, he was inquiring about a bunch of snakes and wanted to know what our best price was plus shipping. Naturally, he called me and we talked it over. Unfortunately, I think the shipping may have been too high, which is why we thought Paul ultimately backed out. Since we don't ship on a regular basis, we're not certified shippers anywhere. Paul had also mentioned he gets really good rates with UPS and USPS, so we're currently researching into it.

Regarding phone numbers. It's not that we don't want to talk to people on the phone. Actually, we both prefer it. However, we don't do this full time and our phones are used exclusively for our careers. That being said, we have a close friend in the industry that's in a similar situation as us where he uses his phone a lot for his work. He gave his number out to potential buyers and then started getting solicitors and prank calls so bad that he had to change his number. I know that doesn't seem that bad, but everything was tied to that number and he had to change everything from his business cards to important contacts. My brother and I wish to avoid that headache, so we make sure we are 100% available through email by having them forwarded to our phones. That way we can respond within a minutes notice. I know that isn't ideal in an industry where trust is a huge factor, but we have nothing to hide and we will go above and beyond to ensure a comfortable and smooth transaction.

I hope this clears up a few questions. Thanks.

FedEx is currently the only courier with approved shipping for snakes. You can do so through either ShipYourReptiles.com or ReptilesExpress.com without having to be certified as they have waivers with FedEx to allow people to use their accounts for residential shipping.

Using USPS to ship snakes violates their Terms of Service as does shipping snakes via UPS.

Please do not use either off those methods.

I recently had put a Pinstripe 100% Het Piebald male on layaway with Jeff due to some money issues and Wisconsin being under extremely cold weather had to wait a few months for the perfect shipping window. Jeff did an excellent job shipping the little guy to the FedEx center by me and Pinstripe was in A-1 condition. He chowed down a meal later that evening. I would definitely buy from him again and already eyeballing some other stuff he has for sale. Thanks again Jeff!

I purchased an adult female "jag sibling" from Jeff and his brother. I also dealt with the blocked number and ended up dealing mostly with his brother, but there were no issues. We met in person to make the deal, and it went fine.

I recently purchased a snake from Jeff and the transaction went as well as I could have hoped for. Excellent communication, packaged well and the animal is healthy and much nicer than the pictures showed. AAA+++ seller.
