    =====================

    I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

    So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

    But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

    Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

    I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
    Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

    And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

Ran across this ad in the skink forum,he is clearly trying to sell imported blue tongue skinks as captive breds.

Ed, how do you know they are WC?

Did not say wild caught.

Said imports, not ruling out WC though.probably CH imports. that is when the natives catch gravid females and hold them until they drop a litter of babies.then all kinds of bad things happen to that adult that dropped the litter of babies.

Like the females get exported,many of those mothers will die in shipment or maybe they don't get exported and just eaten.

Read keven2's ad.
title says captive born and the body of ad says captive bred.
they sure as hell are not captive bred.

Assuming he did get these animals from Strictly, how does that tell us that they are WC? Doesn't Strictly sell both imports and CBB?

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a fan of Keven either, BUT, there is a sad lack of evidence on this thread and it’s looking a little too much like the Salem trials for my taste. Can anyone actually substantiate the wc origins, and if not, can we stop the baseless bashing?

For those of us who, like me, do not keep and who are not familiar with skinks, can you point out how you can determine this from the ad and/or pictures?

To my knowledge, true CB skinks are in the $250 - $350 range.

That isn't to say his aren't, I don't know for certain. I myself would ask who the breeder was, as anyone who has bought CB skinks would have that information for their potential customers.

This.....all day long, especially considering the source.

Here is another ad for tegus with the same language, using the 2 terms interchangeably, but with photos of eggs and what is apparently a newly hatched baby.

http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/forums/showthread.php?t=664691

Did you contact Keven to clarify the language, or did you come straight here to post another bad guy thread?

Not saying I would personally feel comfortable buying from Keven, but I fail to see how this thread is helpful.

The irony of Ed Clark starting a bad guy thread.

I don't know Keven at all but he's not got a bad name so I like to give people the benefit of the doubt lol Let's say he does go down to strictly and picks out the best CH of the lot and ups the price a little. To some there might be value in that. Sure they could order directly but perhaps they like the idea of having someone local looking over the stock, sending individual pics, etc. Anything born in indo, I personally would list as ch not cb no matter what I was told, but that's just me.

Keven has had some less than stellar transactions, to be honest. He may have even had one with regards to captive hatched vs. captive bred origin (I do not specifically recall). Captive bred/born/hatched have been erroneously used interchangeably for years, and many times unintentionally.

The whole point here is that Ed is assuming they are indo imports, and I'm not sure I would label this particular ad as dishonest until I, as a buyer, asked further questions about the origins of the animals. I know I would not intentionally seek out to smear someone with whom I had no intention of doing business based on some ambiguous wording.

I guess, in short, is Keven still a bad guy if I call him up and ask him for breeder info, and he discloses that they were hatched in captivity from WC adults?

I don't know Keven or Fat frogs but sure seems like Fat frogs loves to attack Keven, right or wrong. Any add I have ever seen from Keven Fat frogs has to blast him, seems kinda obsessed.

I'm not so sure he'd be a bad guy, but pretty close. Dishonesty is bad business.
