    I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

    So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

    But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

    Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

    I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Jordan Russel seems to be upset because he was question about how he ran the last raaca.net raffle. I questioned him and gave him praise but he did not like it, so I am showing the entire community what he has posted right before he blocked me. I gave him praise for raising $30K and he tries to turn the convo around at the very end and ridicule me, wow. We'll let the community decide for themselves on this one !!!

Unless you're intending to officially allege that there was some misconduct with the raffle - preferably with some proof - I guess I'm missing the whole point of this thread. :shrug01: This looks like so much petty, ultimately meaningless, Facebook :icon_bs: that's probably best left on Facebook.
 
This does not warrant a BOI post in any way. No transaction took place and your conversation has nothing to do with any potential transaction.
 
So what was the point of this? Other than showing how you were being really annoying and accusatory for no reason, and eventually he got tired of dealing with you being an idiot and blocked you? Because I definitely got that part of it.

I've helped in the past with various fundraising auctions for various organizations, it takes a lot of work and Jordan has obviously put a lot of effort into what he is doing.
Do you have specific, founded criticisms? If so, please clarify your accusations here.
If you were on the other hand simply suggesting alternative ways to run the auction, it isn't necessary to force your suggestions on anyone.

I'm with the others, please clarify why you created this thread.
 
I have participated in Jordan's previous auctions. I can personally vouch for that fact that the money is going exactly where he says it's going. My payments were sent to USARK, not Jordan. The only part he plays is the person doing all the hard work, and fielding all the complaints.

I see nothing wrong with his first question if the winner shows he resides in a place that was not eligible to win that would make me ask questions.
Why Jordan did not respond right away with the info that shows he is not that person or he is username w/e it was I don't know. That is how most people would have responded and this would have been a none issue.

Jordan does do a lot of the reptile community, and I respect and appreciate all he has done and does, but I also have seen a few posts that lead me to think he is an ass.

Someone tried similar crap during the last RAACA raffle. There's always going to be some kind of pettiness to those not winning or not involved enough to "prove" nothing shady went on.

Let the conspiracy theories fly while Jordan helps to be a catalyst that continues to raise over 100K for USARK so you can continue to complain about the method behind you not winning items for animals you get to still keep thanks to such fundraising.
 
Yea, that Jordon Russel guy is a real piece of work, In his free time he tries to save our animal rights FOR ALL OF US. I don't know much about setting up auctions or running raffles but I do know setting up my facebook was a pain and I can only imagine what its like to run something like that. I think people get too wound up with these type of things. The purpose of these raffles is to raise money to keep our hobby and way of life for most, the prizes are just a extra bonus if you get lucky but that's it. Its funny cause your read post and forms, with people going on and on about the new laws they are trying to pass, we need to stick together and they are talking to there attorney but that's about as far as it goes. Here is a guy that is actually doing something and people are going to complain and accuse him of being untrusting? I think there are a few people that need to take a step back and think about the bigger picture.
 
Look I don't like the way it was run either, but guess what Ian Morris/ticsandballs are good people Glad they won.

Jordan can't do everything to please everyone it's impossible someone is always going to be swore or butt hurt about something.

The real winner here? Hopefully USARK, every bit helps.
 
Hmmmm, lets get it straight, Jordan does ALL of the work to organize, promote, and operate an enormous raffle that supports USARK's legal fight in Washington. All of this is done as a courtesy and without compensation. You (Karl) presumably bought a ticket, didn't win, (neither did a lot of people) and now are casting doubt and raising questions about Jordan's integrity. Does that about sum it up?

Well, wow, just wow.....This isn't the first time that Jordan conducted a raffle to help out an organization and just like the last time, he wasn't compensated for his efforts and time with any of the raffles. He has done all of this without any expectation of compensation but I think a bit of gratitude is at the very least in order. After all, his efforts to collaborate with the the product-manufacturer's was a huge undertaking and the funds raised will certainly contribute to USARK's legal fight.

I guess what I'm trying to say is this is an absurd post. I say that having refrained from commenting on nearly anything. I don't like to get involved in the nonsensical drama on here (or anywhere else) but this one just made me shake my head. I'm embarrassed for you because Jordan busts his butt in order to help out all hobbyists (including me, and YOU). Just because you don't personally believe that it was conducted with proper transparency doesn't mean that you should call his integrity and character into question. Personally, I think he had every right to be frustrated with your questioning.

On behalf of everyone that knows Jordan and appreciates his efforts....shame on you and while this threat won't be deleted, I hope that the response will be overwhelmingly in support of Jordan because this is all just bananas.
 
I hope that this thread at least accomplishes one good thing, in raising awareness of RAACA auctions and the fundraising for USARK to fight the impending snake bans. I think that what Jordan is doing is phenomenal, and I can't thank him enough for all his hard work for our hobby. I hope that in the future even more people will become involved in our fight against HSUS and USFW.

Everything else has already been said very well by other people. :iagree:
 
Accusing someone of misconduct in a huge raffle like that is a big deal, and I'm surprised he was as cordial as he was.

Jordan is one of the elite members of the reptile community and everyone in this community is lucky to have him. It was definitely a mistake to make a post like this against him.
