    I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

    So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

    But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

    Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

    I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

I have thought long and hard over this but after seeing his post in the monitor forums i feel i must.
Here is what happen :
I decided to go to the hamburg pa. show last weekend to look for more waters. I had been in contact with joe about the waters he had posted on here and thought it would be cheaper to meet him there instead of paying shipping since i was going anyway. When got there I was sad to she about 12 baby waters stuck in a 5 gal. show case but it being a show and space limited whatever . Upon close inspection I notice that all most all of them had bad ri infections. When I say bad i mean to the point that they looked like bubble machines. I brought this to his attention thinking he would pull them back and take care of them properly. Yeah right he kept on selling them none the less. unfortunately my love of this species got the better of me and bought three. All of them are thin have ris seem very stressed . I have them all on antibiotics and just last night got them to feed.
The thing that pissed me off most is that he always post that his monitors are healthy or how does he say it (no droopy eye slow movers here) The fact that he was willing to sell sick animals makes him a bad guy in my book! I know I probably should not have bought them but could not see them all die. He says in his new ad that the ri has been treated but why did it take so long since i can insure you all that these animals have been sick for awhile . Even when I asked for a discount because they were sick he said he would just keep them. Red flag if he was going to treat them then giving me a discount would still be cheaper then treating them with the meds they needed . Don't get me wrong I could careless about the money it just seems odd to me. So buyers beware these animals are very sick!! BRUCE ANGELINI
 
Deff understand your concern for the animals but in all fairness you cant buy three of them and then be mad at him (IMO). Unfortunately even though your intentions are good buying from him only helps and encourages his alleged bad practices. I could understand your point if he had shipped them to you without you seeing them but YOU made the choice to buy them so you should have expected this. If you really want to shut someone down that has no business selling STOP buying from them. More money for them means more producing and more selling. Of course I would like to hear his side and see some pictures but to me you don't have a leg to stand on. I wouldn't go to the store and see rotting tomatoes, buy three of them and then complain to everyone that they were rotted. Sorry your in this boat but IMO its your own fault. Good luck though.

I don't think his complaint is that he purchased sick animals. Nor do I think that there is an actual complaint about not getting a discount.
What I get is how upsetting it is to see critters sick and that someone would knowingly sell sick critters. That his allegation/s is simply that Joe Hadden has knowingly sold sick animals... and to beware if someone is interested in these particular animals that Joe is selling.

You encouraged him to keep selling them since you bought 3. I understand wanting to help the poor things out,but..

But what? Yes I knew they were sick and no I'm not mad after the fact. I have the resources to save them and so i will. Just a reminder had i paid for the shipping I still would have gotten these same sick animals. Like i said I wasn't going to do this till I saw his ad here. I just want people to beware there is no way they are healthy in such a small amount of time. As far as helping him stay in business o well i saved three and i have no regret for that!!!! I have never sold a animal that i even thought was sick never mind one that is knocking on deaths door.As for proof I will try and get pics up this weekend and I believe my rep. speaks for its self. If thats not enough his ad now says he treated them for ri but not long ago they were all healthy? This was not a slight ri infection and in no way happened over night (weeks) so how does he claim healthy a week ago? Like I said I knew they were sick no regrets on that but BUYER BEWARE!

I have to agree, I wouldn't have bought them knowing they were sick to begin with. I know it's hard though, your conscience says you should save them but if you do, your supporting the problem. One way or the other is a :shootfoot
 
I understand why some feel that buying from helps keep him in business . But I also feel that there is still a obligation to help the animals. That is why I started this thread to make others aware and hopefully make joe understand that we as a reptile community will not stand behind this type of practice. I understand that animals get sick and I have no proof joe did this himself but it is clear that he was neglecting them at that this point. The fact they are up for sale just days later proves this. I have the resources to help them so selling them to me was not the issue. I knew they were sick it was no surprise. It's the buyers that buy unseen on here that I'm worried about. In all the emails he never said anything about health issues. I only hope joe will join this so he can explain his actions and see that if he continues to run this way he will soon be exposed.

But you did stand for that type of practice and bought when you should have walked away ,feeling bad of course.
You bought them then come here and tell us not too ? Most all of us on here have deep love for reptiles.
So you coming here and telling us what to do after you did the opposite is just not sitting well with me.
I am not looking to start anything,but its not right to buy and then tell us not to do what you did.
I wish you the very best and know just how you feel. I have taken in sick animals through my life that others tossed to the big open world.
 
It's a shame but unless you have room for ever animal that needs saving & want to put your current animals at risk it's serves better to help by teaching these sellers they can only sell healthy critters.

It's the same thing if you go to Petco & buy a sick animal because you feel bad. All your doing is putting money in the hands of someone to acquire more stock to get sick. As long as money is able to made off sick animals they will continue to be sold. You confirmed this by not being able to get a discount or even have them removed from the sales table.
 
I think everyone here is clear on the fact that you should have walked away from the sale. The issue is your good intentions by "saving" those animals are hurting many more animals because he is able to continue breeding. You still have yet to provide proof which would really help your cause to make sure he is exposed. Do you have proof? Anything? Pictures, vet bills, video? I understand you may have a good reputation ( I have not looked) but thats not what the BOI is about. Your making a very serious claim against someone and there reputation so instead of going on page after page about should you or should you not have bought the animals can you please provide proof they were in the condition you described. That would really help expose this guy if he is doing what you claim he is. Im not trying to defend him because I don't know either of you but so far you made these allegations with no proof and to me your reputation does not speak for itself. Proof does. Either way I hope your critters pull through but if your serious about exposing him your going to need more than your word (at least for me).

I don't see where he told "us" not to purchase these animals. He stated "buyer beware" after explaining the reason why. So, that leaves it up to "us", as to what "we" wish to do, after receiving the info.

Of course, knowingly purchasing sick animals, with rescue in mind, does put money in the seller's pocket and allows the seller to repeat his/her offense. It can also place one's healthy collection at risk if proper measures are not exercised.
However, I am not going to berate the OP, for his action of purchasing sick animals, and will assume he knows how to quarantine, etc.

Rather, I believe what would be good to have is some proof of the OP's allegations against Joe Hadden.

I do have all the room I need. I have 4 rooms now 1 quarantine 1 lizards 1 boas 1 pythons (I keep boas and pythons separated because of ibd) I also have all the funds to treat everyone of my pets too. As far all this bs over buying sick monitors let me ask this should they just die? I came here to let everyone know they are sick! If joes was selling as sick or rescues then fine atleast then you know your buying in hopes to save them (like fresh imports) All I was trying to do is warn others. Petco is a big jump from a small time seller. Peaple will buy petco for the name alone.Where if joe keeps it up he is bound to fail cause rep means everything . I dont know joe personally and only hope he see's this and changes he ways. If not this will not be the last post on him.

I am going to get the pics up soon as I replace my new hard drive. I just need time to do it probably tomorrow. (so sorry for my grammar my fat fingers hit to many buttons ) I also think your wrong about my word not being enough considering I have no negative feedback at all and always post good remarks when I can. If thats not enough I have plenty of references including Brian at bhb who will tell you I have no reason to lie. I do this out of love and have spent more then I made. So yes I bought them but no I dont think it was wrong. Thats why I'm letting everyone know. I like to call it damage control. I saved some know I let everyone know not to buy unless your ready to nurse them back to health and possibly lose them. Let's face it if he cares this post will get his attention and even thats a start.

I'm sure Joe is going to remember you as the guy who complained about his animals' quality...but they were still good enough for you to buy and help his business.

Actions speak louder than words and you just put more money in his pocket. Ever hear the phrase 'don't rob Peter to pay Paul?' That's what you're doing here. You're saving three animals (maybe) to help that guy not only make more money to buy more bad stock and keep them in subpar conditions, but now you assure him that he can get away with the bare minimum of care to sell animals. Now he thinks he can buy the cheapest animals -->> mark them up -->> and some fool like you will still buy them, even if it is out of 'feeling bad' for the animals.

Instead of being self-righteous and emotional about it, you should look at the bigger picture. The world doesn't revolve around you or your emotions. By supporting someone that does this (something you haven't yet proven just talked about) assuming you truly believe this, you're only encouraging it in the future.

You remind me of one of those people that would post in a frog forum I was on years ago that would make a weekly post about how they saw a sick pacman frog at Petsmart/Petco/Insert big-name-store and they bought it to save it and we should all rebel against them! Why does that one frog's life deserve to be saved over the thousands that will follow and subsequently fill its spot on the shelf?

Let me say this again clearly - you should NOT GIVE YOUR MONEY TO SOMEONE WHOSE BUSINESS DECISIONS YOU DON'T SUPPORT. It literally doesn't make sense, and is completely counter-intuitive to your own cause, which by the way is misguided.

Im sure your a good guy. I leave comments on here as well and have a good reputation BUT what if I had a transaction with you I felt went wrong and tried to slander your name to get back at you. Would you want people to believe me just because of my reputation or would you expect them to wait until proof is presented to support my argument. Im not trying to argue with your or ruffle your feathers, in fact I believe you, I just think to warn buyers you have to present more than just your word. I use to be a police officer, you know how many pastors, teachers, other cops, etc I arrested that had a good name? Im not wanting proof because I doubt you but simply because it will help your case and possibly keep this guy from scamming people (which is what your trying to accomplish?).

I'm not attacking your pride so there's no reason to be defensive. Don't take what I'm saying as an insult because obviously like many of us you have a caring heart but I don't think your getting the big picture of what I'm saying. I didn't ask if you had room for what you needed, I asked if you had room for all the animals being sold that are sick because the more you buy the more there will be for sale. I only used Petco as an example because I have yet to see any proof of what your stating about Joe, not that what your saying is untrue. You cant justify saying "if joe keeps it up he is bound to fail" after buy animal from him no matter how its worded.

Just because we may have a difference of opinion it doesn't mean I think your good or bad & we continue to discuss it on another thread but lets not derail your point for posting this here anymore. Please post the photos tomorrow when possible. Brian from BHB may be a great guy & a good reference when doing business but I didn't see him at the show so it doesn't help with this case. It's not that anyone thinks your lying we just want to be fair to everyone. Has JH reptiles even been advised of this thread yet?

I'll try one more time. Had he posted them as wild imports or that they need to continue to be treated for ri I still would have bought them. My problem is in his ads ( look in the monitor section ) before the very last one he says they are healthy not skinny no droopy eye....... Agian damage control I wanted this local of monitor so since I have resources to treat them I bought them. I posted this to warn others that inexperienced herpers should stay away. Were I on the other hand have no problem taking in imports /sick animals and turning them into good captives. I saved three warned everyone esle I'll sleep just fine knowing that.
