    =====================

    I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

    So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

    But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

    Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

    I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
    Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

    And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Well I did not want to have to do this. BuT I'm left with no choice. I gave him weeks and weeks to make our deal right and he never has and lied to me.

I'm unsure of exact dates I can find out though for those of you who really want the deep information.

I did a trade with James threw a local forum I'm on with some leopard geckos. I met him he was nice..traded for the geckos, done deal. Well I went to Flordia and brought back a Green Amevia. Well James had done a trade for a tank he had at his house and some other stuff and got a corn snake in the trade, according to him, his wife does not like snakes and only allowed him to keep it a short time whilest he found a trade for it. I told him I had the Amevia, and he was very interested, we decided to do a even trade for this corn snake he had. When I got the corn, I told him it didn't look good weight wise, but would try and see how it does. couple days later it died. I contacted him, told him I'd take pictures of the animal and I did. He said not to worry about it he would give me the amevia back, because it bit him anyways. according to his email response. Well...I contacted him again after not hearing back and he said that it had got loose in his house and once he caught it he would give it back...well over and over again I was nice and contacted him to see if he had caught the animal, he made attempts of telling me where it was "hiding" at ..and the description. well over and over again he told me he hadn't caught it yet. I told him we needed to make our deal right, as it was the right thing to do. Then suddenly on Craigslist a Green Amevia pops up. wow....NO pet stores in this area have carried Green Amevias and if they have it's been far and in between. Very rare in other words. SO i contact the poster..its a gentlemen and not James. and this is what he writes me back.

hey did you trade for a gecko? I'm trying ot find out if this one was mine, ..Ok I'll be honest. The guy i traded it to him, ..the animal he traded me died a few days later, and he said the "amevia" got out and he's not seen it. So if he's lying i really want to know. that's why im trying to find out ..the if its the same animal or not.

So..James lied to me..about "losing" the Amevia. I'm very upset about this..because honestly..I would rather the man have told me the truth than to jerk me around like he has.

I can send the emails that I exchanged with James to anyone who would like to see them. About this matter. Some were though on the forum easttnpets.com

and I will have to copy n paste the messages to you. This is as well where I warned James if he did not make the deal right i was Going to put him here. I've warned him 3 times. He has NOT responded since I wrote him an email and told him that I knew the Lizard was mine for sure and that he lied. he has NOT responded since.

So BOI. What would you do?

I don't know his full name. He might have told me in the past, but I don't know it. That's why I gave his email address.

Well i dont think there is much anyone here can help you with because we have no idea whom you actually dealt with.As far as the email they can change them so no real help thier.I am sorry he ripped you off though.

I have his number and such.

Let me see if I can find out.

There is an Ad, on fauna, with that email address.
Info, with that account & in Ad, is that his name is James Carl and lives in Knoxville, TN.

I dont understand the sour grapes. A person meets with another person to trade animals. Each has the opportunity to examine what they are trading for. One person finds a problem in the animal they are trading for- but they still trade anyway. Two or three days later that animals dies. Its tough noogies, but the deal is done.

As far as the other person lying, its unfortunate that he did and didn't realize that he didn't need to in order to be 100% in the right. Its a private trade that doesn't seem to me to backed by any kind of guarantees.

When you do quick deals in parking lots and such and you don't even know who you're dealing with....you have to find some solace in knowing the least of your troubles is winding up with a dead snake.

The moral to this story is

buy what you want ! Unless you really know whom you are trading with and the value is acceptable to you, then proceed with caution .But dont expect any benefit once you receive the animal with any extended guarantee's

There is no obligation as you buy with your own risk. The receiver has no obligation in returning anything to you. If this sale was sight unseen, that just makes it worst.

I'm not saying there isn't anything I can do about it at this time. I'm saying I wouldn't want someone else to have this happen to them. He does a lot of trading back and forth and I wouldn't want someone jooped the same.

a FYI. Easttnpets.com is a great site, and I met him threw that site, but..I don't want just because of a certain member let the site be reflected that all the members are bad and shady. Which that is not the case.

I had a understanding with James that if something went wrong he would make the deal right. He said he wrote the guy and such. the snake was suppose to be 5 months old. There was no way that snake was that age. It didn't last long enough for me to even find out if it would eat.

Well 95% of the time you'd be able to tell if a snake is 3 days from death. With a face to face meeting and an inspection of the snake that pretty much relieves him of any liability. Now if he said he would make good if anything went wrong thats up to him to actually follow through but it seems like there wasn't any clear cut gaurantees of any kind. Take it as a lesson learned.

Yea, you can tell, and the snake just looked like it need a few extra meals. It wasn't really that bad looking. I mean..come on..any honest person..you sell and trade an animal and a few days later it dies. I mean I have 10 other coulbrids ...all kept the same, and they are all fine. I know what I'm doing as per say to that level. So under no fault of my own did the snake pass away. He was contacted as soon as I found it, and he and I can forward you the emails where he said he would give me the Amevia back. This isn't any different than selling an animal online. You post pics they agree on wanting it. You would feel the same. I know there are always risks involved when buying and trading animals. BUT, Telling me yo ur gonig to make our deal right and back out of it..isn't right, and lying about it either. I don't think I'd want to deal with a liar and you would want to know about it, if it effects you if you were to buy an animal from the same person. Being honest and truthful to someone goes a lot farther than a liar.

I agree... just because an animal was traded instead of sold doesn't make it less wrong if the animal was misrepresented, or if one of the traders doesn't keep their word.
TrulyRare, just curious, did he give any guarantees before the trade?

That being said, there is no legal recourse in this situation, and if he's a small time hobbyist who only deals locally even posting on the BOI probably won't bother him much. I don't know, what exactly would you like out of this situation in an ideal world?

Well an apology and the truth ....maybe to even make the deal right, but I doubt and prob won't see that happen.

It's been a while back..and it's took this long and he's still made no response back. It's sad. I know he wanted to make something of it...and even local people look people up as well.
