    I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

    So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

    But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

    Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

    I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

I currently want to work out a trade with him. I have a "I don’t ship first policy" but I still would like to know if he has a good rep or not. I do not feel like making a swap and getting either something I do not want or something sick :) He seems like a good guy, I just want the boards opinion.

I was wondering tha same. I am thinking about buying his pastel and it is a great deal and just needed some info on him. Like you said he sounds like a nice guy. How did your trade go?

first off i do not care what he will pay me.. when i clearly have them for sale for $75 per pair plus shipping which is VERY reasonable

and i will tell you they are $75 plus shipping. if you expect free animals or close to free since shipping is betwen $40-$45 i advise you to look elsewhere.

maybe it just rubbed me the wrong way but never the less this has been my ONLY interactions with him...

Yes i am not getting that pastel male he has. It sounded like a good deal at first. I told him i can give him the money tonight threw paypal and he said he cant take paypal. Then i told him i would have to send the money tomorrow then. And he said. "why u cant send now..." He should not be worried about why i cant pay him tonight. He also told me if i breed his pastel to his normal females and the offspring would be pastel. And if they wernt pastel that they would be hets for pastel. That is when i knew that this guy isent for real. His pics were also from over a year ago.
 
He contacted me about his pastel, offering it to me as a 1600 gram pastel from Pete Kahl. He was responding to one of my "wanted" ads. The next day he said he just got the paper work from N.E.R.D.? Then he posted it on fauna and it must have gone on a hunger strike, as it lost 400 grams and became a 1200 gram pastel. I emailed him about that, but he had no explanation except that it was only 1200 grams and breedable, so what difference does it make?

That was the end of my talking to him. He only has a pic of the pastel from sometime in '03, blurry pic that does not clearly show the animal. He refused to take any current pics (before he told me about the original breeder suddenly changing from Kahl to N.E.R.D......)

-He rose flags multiple times. I could not complete the trade. This happend to me to. Or at least sort of. He told me it was kahl and then another person it was NERD that I was in contact with. Just to odd. BTW is he okay with meeting you in person in NY?? I just dont get it.....

I knew something wasnt right about him. I will post the pics he sent me and the NERD paper work, the paperwork was sent to me via Adobe Acrobat Document. The pics are from 9-2-03. Also He wanted to trade for my baby male pastel. Why on EARTH would anyone want to trade an adult BREEDABLE pastel for a baby???? Something just didnt feel right. I dont think that that ball in any way even represents a pastel. Also if he did buy this "Pastel" back in 02', it wouldnt have been cheap. How much were pastels going for back in 02'??? Also I told him that I could send a money order overnight if he could get me more pics and he said his camera wont plug into his computer. Erik

Date of his pics are 9/2/03??? Date on the "paperwork" from N.E.R.D. is from 10/1/03??? How did he get pics of the snake at his home a month before he purchased the snake from Kevin?
 
I think he is passing off a very pretty WC snake as a pastel. Now I do know that they are importing some new strains of pastels and proving them out to be just that. However if thats what this snake is, then why couldn’t he just say that? I didn’t do the deal because this is what I expected. I have no money to gamble on proving something out right now. I wanted a proven line. The pics were my first red flag. I asked if he could take more and his camera became broken. Well at that point, 02 pics and you couldn’t take any more recent pics in between the 3 years you had it?? I thought that was odd, and decided without more pics I am not going to do the deal. He wanted to meet me in person in NY.

#1. I am in no way ready to drive 12 hours without hard proof your not going to stand me up when I get there.
#2. He rubbed me the wrong way by acting like all I had to do was drive.
#3. He rubbed me the wrong way once again because he acted like I had to complete the deal the same day he emailed me. Almost harassing me to complete it.

It all seemed just to odd for me. However I can be wrong, and I do not want his name rubbed into the dirt if that is the case. He is still young. Maybe it really was just a WC snake? If that’s the case, maybe we can show him the errors of his ways, before he completely screws himself and others. This community doesn’t forget, if he ruins his name now, maybe when he grows up and “wakes up as well,” he would not be accepted back in to the community. I tend to encourage people to find a hobby, if he is really making a mistake that he might see as harmless, lets fix it now before his little harmless mistake becomes the end to HIS hobby. On the flip side, if he is out just to scam people. Well....then the rest is up to everyone else, and I’ll just shut up....lol

-I didn't say you were scamming anyone. This thread was brought back up, and not by me. When I decided not to do the trade, I just left it at that and did not even post my concern. Like I said, "However I can be wrong, and I do not want his name rubbed into the dirt if that is the case." You told me it was Kahl, then you told someone else it was NERD. I didn't think you were scamming anyone for sure. However whats with the confusion on who you bought it from?

I forgot to mention. All of my posts on this forum, are simply my humble opinnion & nothing more. I know that NERD, reads these forums and is reading this thread right now. I do hope that they can verify your male for you. However my only concern is with the switch of the names. I am not calling you a scammer, simply asking a question.
 
The the paper work and the pics. The paper work is dated about a month After the pics??? Also why would anyone want to trade an adult breedable male pastel for a baby male?? And why would you tell someone that if the babies werent pastel they were hets??? All pastels are dominant. Just some of my questions, im not trying to make you look like a bad guy but thats what your starting to look like? Thanks Erik
 
Although I have never personally purchased an animal fron jamal I know him and his dad from our herp club and I have personally seen many of his collection he truly loves herpetology and takes great care of his animals,I would not hesitate to purchase anything from his collection to add to my personal stock.I know his experience and knowledge as a herper is above normal but hes kind of new at dealing so make sure all shipping requirements are agreed upon and met.
