    =====================

I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

hello all

I have a %100 het male albino and a norm femal. I wantd to know how can I get started with projects without spending BIG $$$$$. I will be going to NY show this sunday and will be looking for something. I would love to here how some of you that started small scale got going. I also wanted to know how many of you feel its not even worth dealing with poss like %50. I hear that I can start with the 2 I have but that it would maybe take more than 5yrs whooo long time.

Well, it sounds like you are on the right track. 100% het male, and normal females are the cheapest way in, and gives you a nice supply of adult females.
Breeding you het to a normal will take up to 5 years to produce the desired morph anyways...
But, I think a lot of people, without much money to spend start with 100% het male w/ normal females. A 100% het pair. Or a pastel male, and normal females.

Yup Mike gotter... Any co-dom trait will be the quickest as far as buying one high dollar snake and then het to het breeding is the best way to get ino the really high dollar stuff like albinos and such...

I'd have to say... the least expensive route to morphs is to send your adult females to a friend/associated with a pastel male.

(hmm... I think we just did that!)

Well, thats if you know somebody.
I wish I had someone around here like that, and I am not big on shipping...
Buttttttt, the closest thing to a morph around here is a guy who said he'd lend me his "het pastel".
It is normal, which would be good, but my pastel isnt even concieved yet...

I LOVE POSSIBLE HETS!!!!!!!!

First clutch from albino x possible het= 5 eggs, 5 albinos.
Second clutch from albino x possible het= 6 eggs 2 albinos.

Like others have stated, pastels are a great way to start, its how I started. I also think that if you spend the next season or two making possible het albinos, then in 06-07 you buy an albino male, you will get a great start that way.

Either way, you must enjoy the animals and want work with them I think this will make your efforts pay off in the long run.

These are the babies from my last 04 clutch.

Not necessarily. If you're a businessman, you'll find someone who needs some extra normal females. If you're not willing to ship animals, you won't have much luck selling animals on the internet.

90% of the animals I produce and sell are sold locally. I put it right in my ads that I do not ship from Octish til spring. I know I lose a few sales, but if the seller is willing to drive a wee bit, not shipping isn't a huge deal.

I'm also fairly certain your lawn is seeded with clover, and you wear a huge horseshoe around your neck .
Close, but thats not where I found the horseshoe.

Wish I could find a local market to support our efforts. It's just not here though! I don't find shipping to be an issue (with Fedex and Delta, we can pretty much please everyone). Every once in a while, we'll do a local sale (Colorado Springs, Denver, Pueblo), but for the most part, Colorado is a dead area for the market we service.

Heh, well I have not a lot of local sales. Once I start producing stuff, that I cant sell locally, like higher end morphs, I'll get Delta Verified, and Fed Ex verified to ship.
I only have had common colubrids, so thos eall sold to the local pet stores.

WOW 5 EGGS=5 ALBINOS What kind of poss is this %50, %66 or what? Your not the only one that say pastels are a inexpensive way to get in but I can see that because dont pastels cost a bit more than $1000+. Het albinos I seen for $700-$800 but pastels something like $1200 or $1500+ am I right?

I wouldn't pay more than $700-$800 for a male pastel at this point in time, and I have seen het albino pairs for $600 from trustworthy people.

Both the girls that gave me albinos were 50%ers. Its awsome luck, but it can happen.

I agree with you on the prices Al. I saw albinos, for 1200 before. I also saw *I know this was a rip off add* Albino Het Pastel LMAO for 400, in Hawaii.
I had to send the guy a response to that one, and asked him if he found a new pastel trait, and has permits for keeping reptiles there.
Can they even keep herps there, at all?

possibles

I think possible are a very good alternative to full albinos and 100% hets. I have five 50% females on their way next week. Will be a couple of years before I can breed them but its really not an issue. I think hets have always offered the moderate spender a chance at the really cool morphs. As for other cheap possibilities I would look at the ghosts and pastels as well. I know pastels are already going for 5-6 hundred and I bet they fall even further in price. Then another good alternative is the hypos and ghosts out there. Remember another thing. Even normal captive bred females once they reach adulthood are going anywhere from 3-5 hundred a piece! Just my two cents.

EXactly!

Imagine buying 10 captive bred females at 50 bucks a piece. You raise them into adulthood and sell even at 250 a piece. You just quadrupled your intitial expenditure! I know I'll be looking for a couple dozen captive bred females!! They are hard to come by though!

Heh. The only difference is though, you also spend time, and money to raise those Balls....
It depends. If I raise something up, I will usually keep it, unless it's a holdback I produced, and have deicded against...
