I am acquiring my first tortoise--a juvenile Greek. I'm designing his/her habitat as follows:
-40-gallon pond/water-trough style opaque rubbermaid
-1/2 sand, 1/2 coco-fiber substrate
-Clay plant dish for water
-Broken clay pots as cover/climbing opportunities
-125-watt Mercury Vapor bulb
I plan on planting some edible foods in fairly small amounts in the habitat. Would like to plant some dandelions and clover. Any other recommendations? In addition, there's a gazillion different kinds of clover seed to choose from. Any suggestions? Do your torts prefer one type over another?
If anything seems off or could be better, please let me know. Thanks!
