This is my pair of 2003 Mex mex from Mountainkings.com. I am shooting for breeding efforts in the Spring of '06. I have other Mex Mex, but these are by far my favorites and a much anticipated breeding project. The first two pics are of the male. Let me know what you think!

I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?
So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.
But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.
Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.
I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

Responding to email notices you receive.

In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Great snakes , but
I would have to ask you what would your ultimate goal be on breeding. If for resale of off-springs, they are about the bottom of the barrel in the mexicana group for appreciation. I don't know why it is that way but I bred them as well as the San Luis Potosi and Thayeri and I just didn't have much luck on un-loading the Mex-Mex. I also saw this as being a former reptile show vendor of about 2 shows/expos per month for 4 years. There was very little enthusiasm on the Mex-Mex and just a tad more on the other species of this family. Maybe times have changed though. There WAS a larger interest on the mexicana group when the price of the Gray-Bands ( alterna ) was still high in price at the early years. And I surely believe this is one of the reasons for not so much interest since the price of alterna has dropped at almost a all time low and has been that way for several years. But never-the-less, I still like the mex-mex.

Interesting points, Mike. I agree, they are under appreciated. I have had a different pair up for sale at my tables for awhile now. I always get comments on how they are nice and nobody sees them anymore, but no takers.

I think they are a pleasure to work with and they remind of many of the reasons of why I became involved with herps years ago. I agree they are definately underappreciated, but I won't be surprised if their popularity grows in the future as the hobby does too. I think they are pretty incedible, especially thier temperents compared to some other species. The is a sub-forum on kingsnake.com just for the mexicana ssp. and with the thayeri and other mexicana ssp. it's got some of best pictures of kingsnakes there. Those are an attractive pair Nate and should produce great babies and hopefully by 2006 there will be more of a demand and people looking for them.

I think Mex Mex have great display potential with their vibrant coloring and inquisitiveness. I'm working on creating a naturalistic vivaria for the male. Maybe that would also generate some interest from prospective buyers. Anybody have any ideas for landscaping? I have general knowledge of their natural habitat, however, i would welcome some ideas for the set-up.

All I know about my baby mex mex's from my experience is that they are very reclusive and secretive and I only seem them out at dusk. Maybe, if you were to have them on display you could incorporate hides for the mex mex that were open to the glass and people could see them from there. I think the best selling point is their great dispositions and temperments by having people handle them, in that aspect they remind me alot of a cornsnake. My male San Luis Potosi in that pic above when I handle him always clings to me like a boa or python and has never been flighty whatsoever. And you will probably have repeat customers year after year if your selling mex's that are feeding on f/t pinks really well.

Good advice on veiwable hide spots
Also, frozen/thawed are a must in my opinion. I have one animal (an adult Children's python) in my whole collection that has been stubborn about frozen/thawed and she just rescently was converted from live mice. I also was surprised that the Mex Mex seem to prefer humid hide spots over dry.

you like the mexicana group and your avatar > ? avitar > ? picture of Hendrix. LOL ! Probably the the best guitar player of blues ever. My personal best by Hendrix is Machine Gun and Hear My Train Comin'. How's that for a upper 50 year old guy like me. It was GREAT news when i heard that all of Jimis' songs was or is remastered into digital for acoustics for including the deeper bass. ( maybe not to some people likes though and I'll stop rambling now ! ).

I have heard that they are producing a digital release of Hendrix at Wood Stock since on the normal past songs of that event ( I was in Fort Leonard Wood as a draftee or I would of surely gone ) and movie/documetry doesn't have all of his work/songs at the time of the event.
