    =====================

    I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

    So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

    But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

    Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

    I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
    Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

    And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

Couple of issues with Fedex, this makes two issues in two weeks. The first issue I sent a box of snakes through shipyourreptiles and it took four days to get there, now today when I replace those snakes (out of my own pocket) they say they won't be there till the 21st. I call and they say it's because I arrived after the shipping deadline of 3:30 but I have the receipt to prove I was there at 12:57pm. I tried to see if i could just go get it tomorrow but they said it would ship out before the office opened and if i did return to sender it would have to go to TX and back to CA so it would actually take longer. So they said there's nothing they can do except file a claim after an issue occurs, probably gunna kill another animal when it could at least be prevented by me picking it up. Very angry.

Considering that they are the only legal way to ship, I'm not sure what good will come of complaining about FE, but I would LOVE to find an alternative. You're not alone in receiving terrible service. Out of my last 12 shipments, FOUR were 24 hours late!!! Ridiculous! Fortunately none of mine died from the extended delay, but it's still extremely stressful, both on my animals, and my nerves!!!

I hope that they will do something for you, but I've yet to hear of anyone being reimbursed anything for animals not surviving the trip (not saying they won't; just that I have not heard of such).

Wow!!! I know a fella who's been shipping for ten years; uncertified; and there's a reason for it he always says!! They/UPS/FedEx are paid to get a box somewhere on time and intact... That "reptile inside" on the side of a box really throws them for a loop; either they gotta see what's inside now; or eeewwwww gross, let's delay it?? Sorry to hear this! But, I know it's true to the tee...

I have had more issues with them tossing boxes than being late or lost. Have you tried calling the corporate headquarters instead of just talking to your branch? When i've had issues I call and complain to the customer service line at the headquarters and at the very least get my money back with an apology.

Just to clarify, this statement was only in regards to the animal's value, not shipping charges.

they try and say megan didnt meet the dead line when she clearly did.... they are saying she didnt drop off the package until 7:22 when you can clearly see it was dropped off at 12:57... and they are being very rude over the phone as far as service and really dont seem to care to fix the issue. thats the worst part about it.

Are they saying that Megan did not drop the package off until 7:22 PM? OR are they saying that the drop-off location did not get it to the actual Fed Ex hub until 7:22 PM? If the latter is the case, maybe they aren't lying, BUT a Fed Ex driver would still be responsible for the delay, as a FE driver would be the one taking packages from the drop-off location to the hub.

Either way, I see this as a FE problem, and their responsibility. I'm just trying to get some clarification on where the different times come into play.

I have to agree with your friend on that one. Marking those boxes did nothing but cause me problems with certain dropoff areas.

they are saying megan didnt dropn off the package till 722 but megan says she dropped it off at 1257 and has a reciept to prove it.... but i just talked to woman at actual office she dropped it off to... they are holding the package she also said megan on came and printed the label at 1257 but actually dropped package off at 722... have a good feeling fedex is lying on that one... but snakes are on hold! so megan when you wake up go get them! i know your sick lol

Last week I shipped a box of mostly amphibians to a customer in upstate NY. They didn't get there on time, and ended up showing up the next day. I was told the reason was that the box "missed the flight". All I know is that I have a pissed customer and a box full of dead salamanders. Sure, they'll refund the shipping, but the animals are a total loss. And they could care less about the loss of such wonderful life at all. But I'm in the process of suing fed ex for $16,000 as we speak. Back about 2 years ago I had two boxes of tortoises being shipped from Daytona to Vegas. One was marked with an overnight label, and arrived safe and sound. The second box was marked day saver, and most of the tortoises (approx 60 of them) were doa. It was August, and three days in the box, long after the cold packs were spent, was too much for them. Fed ex offered me $500 in compensation. Kim personally shipped these boxes home, and we paid for overnight shipping. So I've hired a lawyer, and I'm sueing them. I don't know, whether I win or lose, if they'll cancel my account. Guess I'll find out. I pay fed ex around $50,000 a year for shipping, and I'm getting tired of this crap.

thats the biggest thing is reptile breeders use them so much and spend so much each year shipping things for reptiles or actual animals and yet we get such poor service... its horrible.. if they snakes were worth more id sue them.. but its not worth all the money id spend.... megan has almost lost a ton because of their mistakes.... thankfully i was able to get package held there in cali and she can go pick it up here in a bit...

wasnt aware we were supposed to email fedex... but i know megan has picked up snake and he is alive and okay. also she is about to three way call the manager with an HQ. they are really making me and her mad... the girl at the fedex office has been very rude while ive been calling the fedex number transfered me to the actual fedex office... while on phone with a worker there they were very very rude... made me very mad..

O man!!!! I am afraid it will get worse before it gets better. When you are the only show in town, you can get away with murder!!! Literally!!! My heart goes out to people like Fosse who make their living at this. If they are going to willingly s@%# on customers like him then we little guys are in deep Kimchee!!!! Because of horror stories like these I have decided to buy close to home. Of course that is easy for me to say as I live in Texas and I am close to Cherry, Soderberg, Lassiter, Shores, et. al.. In the years ahead Expos and Herp Societies will have to get creative in how they do things. Sorry for the doom and gloom. I had a crappy night!!!

Yeah needless to say I'm not a happy camper. The girl should get fired for the way she behaved and all they said they could do is apologize for the way she treated me

I've always hated FedEx. I've watched them literally drop-kick boxes and toss boxes over fences...

Is USPS an option for you guys?

I might be insane but I thought there was an option to where you can insure a package for however much an "item" (in this case, a reptile) is worth and if they mess up, they have to pay you back what you insured the package for.

I work at a company that use to use FedEx everyday and I vaguely remember an option like that popping up when I had to send a bunch of server equipment to our IT guy in Michigan. I think we paid an extra $5 for close to $5,000 in coverage.

As of the beginning of the year our company is using UPS so I don't know if FedEx's policies have changed or not.

But I don't know if this insurance that they offer applies to reptiles shipped or not. I wouldn't see why it wouldn't...

There is, but Fed-Ex clearly states that live reptiles are not covered. There is no guarrantee from Fed-Ex whatsoever for a live arrival. In fact, I don't there is any company that does, but I could be wrong. I think what we are all concerned about is the fact that Fed-Ex knows they are our only option and they may be taking advantage of the situation.

Well that sucks...seriously. I haven't had any non-local sales yet so I haven't really brushed up on my FedEx rules and regulations for reptiles like I should have so thanks for that useful tid-bit, however disheartening it may be.

I don't understand why another company doesn't step up and offer service (I know, I know. There's a risk in shipping a live animal). I mean really, this seems like a great opportunity for some new blood to come in and steal a good chunk of profit from FedEx. It seems like we contribute enough money (especially the big breeders) to justify a reptile exclusive shipping company but that's just my opinion.
