Sanity is over rated
I have two Savannahs, one male one female. Just to make aware I do have them scheduled to see a vet. Well they stopped eating and refusing food and water. Never happened before, ever. Weird thing is my female is wasting away, while my male has only lost a few grams. He's still robust. Though he still shy from the mice I try to feed him. He'll hiss and puff up at them and back away. My female just turns her head around. I did get both of them to take 3 mice each in past few days. My and female reacted very different though. My male would shy away and all, so I grabbed a hold of him behind his head around his neck, and he opened his mouth in threat, when he did I popped a mouse in... he thought he got a hold of me and snapped his mouth shut. I set him down, I didn't want to try and force it if he would swallow it on his own. He would look up at me when set down and realize he had a mouse in his mouth and take it down. After that I tried just putting another in front of him. He smelled it and everything, but still refused.
Now my female wouldn't even swallow hers.... I had to coax her to even open her mouth, even when she did it was only a little when she got a mouse she tried her very best to get it out of her mouth. She hasn't ate in a while and I knew she needed something of sustenance, so I just held the mouse in her throat until she swallowed it. Which took forever. Eventually she did. And both have kept the mice down. I also had to administer water through the same way but with a syringe.
My females hips are exposed, there's not meat around them. And she's just so lethargic. Usually she full of energy, she's very affectionate and when she sees you coming she'll try and get to you from her enclosure. And she usually loves being sprayed with a water bottle. She doesn't do any of these now. And she just sleeps ALL the time. She MIGHT move to get in and out of the basking area. But not always. I've had to do that a couple of times for her myself.
Any body have a clue as to what is going on? Here's a pic of them. Female is on top of male. Why he tolerates this I dunno. Love I guess.
