    I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

    So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

    But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

    Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

    I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

clarification on hypo and super hypo

I wanted some clarification on hypos and sh,
is it simply a strong line bred trate as to fade stripes etc. or is it a co-dominant gene? I have seen people advertise dominant hypo in ads and I just wanted to know the facts.

Ah the hypo and superhypo paradoxical universe:confused:

I just survived one of those definition threads here somewhere. Seems like the bottomline is some see no spots where others can count to ten or more, and someone should come up with an official reference chart.

Joe Schmoe's differs from Jane Shmoe's who may argue endlessly about their definitions and neither is a mathematician or a geneticist:no01:

So take some aspirin or grab a beer before you search the boards, look at some pics and post your opinion about hypos...

I understand the definitions of each but I just wanted to know what the trait is genetically or if it is just a line bred trate.

Again, some will tell you it is, others say it isn't. Some say some morphs are defined by genes, others call anything a morph...
 
actually there are both

a selectively bred "hypo" (named after hypomelanistic i beleive ) ,and also a "hypo" that is beleived to be dominant or co-dom, (likely it is a true "hypomelanistic " trait ) and of course noone is willing to speculate on that answer , at the risk of sounding stupid ......or getting laughed at (well most of us lol !;) )
 
Until an expert (not necessarily a long-time breeder) comes up with a standard, all definitions will vanish in the air like farts in the wind:unhappy:

Then there's the oxymoronic 100% het so many use to describe animals:no01: So go figure who you'll trust to define genetic and line-bred:erm:
 
people only say 100 percent het because others do not understand

fact behind it that the "normal - looking 100% het animal IS het for a reccessive genetic- trait as opposed to another "normal" from het to het breeding that is considered 66 %het only because 25 % from the breeding are albino ( or any other reccessive) the other 75% are normal looking babies , but 50% of those are hets and 25% are "normal"(do not carry the trait ) we cant see which ones are hets (carrying the trait) so it is said that all of the "normals" from the breeding have a 66% chance to hold those genes(hets) , while they also have 66% chance they are not holding those genes (normals) ! one is a "normal-het" the other is just a " normal"

There are two different typos of hypo in leopard geckos. The first one is a selectively bred form of hypomelanism. These animals have been selectively bred over generations from normal appearing founding stock, and were selectively bred in order to reduce the amount of spotting on the animals.

The other type of hypo is what i believe to be a form of co dominant trait. These hypos are usually called hypo carrot tails and come from founding wild caught stock that were hypo right out of the wild. Ray Hine from the UK originated this line. The fundamental difference in the two is that the Hine line hypos, or hypo carrot tails, when bred to a totally normal appearing leopard gecko, statistically produce in a clutch one normal appearing baby and one hypo baby. When bred to another Hine line hypo you will produce all hypos.
 
it is very wel defined what is line bred and what is genetic

maybe you have something a little confused ! the only definitions that would need fine tuning are selectively bred traits !!!all of the genetic traits are well known, (almost all) and are completely undisputed ! one looks the same as the next guys ! and they all know that lol big confusion in this is to tell a tangerine , from a carrot-tail ....since they both can have alot of orange on the tail ......this seems to be where any confusion lies in defining them !

First and for most I need to state a fact, all hypos are genetic, with the Hine line (carrottail) being what many call co-dom. Hypos are considered visible hets. and super hypos are considered to be the homo. form. That being said let me go back to my original statement that practically everything is genetic. The selectively bred hypo can be considered a combination of various linked and separate recessive and dominant traits.
