    =====================

    I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

    So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

    But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

    Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

    I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
    Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

    And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

This is my friend's large Fiji Boa female, mated to one of my small males back in October 09. See thread posted then:
http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/forums/showthread.php?t=150267

I was hesitant to declare it successful, as I didn't see ovulation, never recorded a shed at the right time, and she has continued to eat like a pig, but now, more than 5 months down the line, I cannot deny that she's a big, thick girl.

So, I am hopeful... a few "Fatty" pics attached, 4 days after her last feed, and she had just defecated.

Any opinions?

Only opinion I have is....That's a cool looking snake. :beer:

Wish I could help you out, but I really just know so little about Candoia it ain't even funny. And I know even less about their mating habits.

Does look like a nice plump girl though.

I think you "regular' Boa guys have it easy :rofl: - all we know about the Fiji Boa is that they gestate for "7-9 " months. That's a LONG time and a lot of suspense! I guess the good news is that there's a lot to find out! :shrug01:

This girl just keeps getting fatter, but she's a real grump, so I don't do much handling. She feels really "taut" when she passes through my hands, whereas the just fed "definitely not pregnant" ones feel kind of softer, and she has given birth before so I hope, I hope, I hope.....

The putative father has very similar back markings, but the last half of his belly is a real scarlet "Fire belly". These snakes come in loads of different colours, and as she is wild stock and he is only first generation captive born I hope, I hope, I hope, for some great surprises...

You can be sure there will be pics as soon as we have anything! Thanks for the interest.

Me too, we are counting the days... if we've got it right could be any time mid May to Mid August......

I really enjoyed your web page..... I just ran across this whole micro community of Candoia enthusiasts, and I am... well enthused that people are doing alot more work with these..... They are amazing boas... very cool stuff indeed... I had an Isabelle and an Irian back in the late 90's.... CHeers:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Thanks Marc,

I think there's room for the Candoia family in the larger herp world - hopefully people will cotton on to them soon.

My gravid female is enjoying playing with my mind - after not moving or eating for the last month she's suddenly hanging out up trees and starting to accept small food items - I have to be away for the next 5 days - wanna bet she's just waiting for me to head out the door?

Whatever she chooses to do I am now on tenterhooks from now until mid August. You can bet I'll be making a big splash on this forum when she finally does pop!

My photos seem to have been deleted, Here they are again...

Nice looking snakes! Don't know much about them but it looks promising. Good luck.

I keep a couple Candoia...paulsoni and c.carinata...she looks like she may be gravid. From what I've read, some may continue to eat while other go off feed. The big thing that I have read is that they need a humid hide to give birth, so it is key to keep a nice moist area in the cage.

If you do get a nice big litter I'd be excited to take a couple off your hands! :) just make sure to have some feeder frogs/lizards around for the neonates as a little more than half will refuse pinkies.

Just back home and nothing yet...:( Still up her tree looking grouchy....

I have a stock of tiny house geckos waiting in the freezer for the big day - I shouldn't have much trouble with the humidity as we're in Fiji in an open air style household, so she's in natural conditions (humidity we have....). Gonna be a long trip to pick up the babies if you want them though... :D
