    =====================

    I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

    So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

    But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

    Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

    I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
    Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

    And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

I am researching and considering buying a BTS soon. I have been wanting another animal for a while, and since I live at home, I'm having to get something "approved" lol. The BP was out, because I'm not allowed to have a snake in the house. The iggy was out because my dad said once my boyfriend moves down I'll have 1 anyways, so I don't need one. So, someone suggested a BTS. I've been doing some research, and they sound like really good animals. Does anyone have any advice, suggestions, ect? Thanks :)

Blue tongues are great pets in my opinion. Make sure you research breeders and i would definitely suggest purchasing a CB. Mine are very easily handled and my kids can even get them out of their enclosures. I feed mine boiled turkey, hard boiled eggs, mixed leafy greens, superworms, and dubia. Im using shredded aspen and care fresh as substrate and always keep a large water bowl in the enclosure. Im using MVBs for heat and UVB and two hides for each enclosure. Great all around reptile with awesome temperaments and very tolerant to simple husbandry mistakes. If you would like to know more, you can PM me and I will give you a great link to check out for more detailed information.

I talked to a snake breeder here in Jax, and she recommended a place to me that can order them. I will definitley do some more research first. I was also wondering if it's better to order from a breeder or get one from a reptile show. The main plus I can think of to getting one from a show is that I could possibly pick one that I want, as opposed to someone just sending me whatever they pick. I know every animal has their own personality, so I thought picking one would be best. But, I've also heard that not every breeder at a show will let you hold the animals for sanitary reasons, which is understandable. I have never been to a reptile show and we have one coming in May.. Anyone have thoughts on this?

I read that they like to burrow a lot, so I'm guessing that because of that, newspaper isn't the best for them. I know a lot of people use them with reptiles because it's cheap and easy, but I don't want to sacrifice what's best for the specific animal just to save a few bucks and a few minutes of cleaning.

most blue tongues at shows will be wc, so i would recommend buying from a breeder. as far as the substrate they do like to burrow so newspaper isn't great, but it also depends on the age. some people will only use newspaper for hatchlings and young juvies, then change over to aspen or care fresh when they are older. also you should know that at most shows the animals are cold and lethargic so it's not a great indicator of their personalities, but most blueys are still going to be handleable. im sending you a link of a great resource for more research.

Ahh, see I wasn't aware of the temp issue. Interesting. Thanks bunches :)

I am new to BT's but I must say they are awesome. I have a 16" or so northern. I use aspen bedding for him. He seems to like it because its easy for him to burrow in. I agree with fuzzylogic about the personality. The store I got mine was very cold so he was very inactive. He is now very active and always exploring. Very cool. Bluetongueskinks.net is a great resource and the guy who runs the sight breeds them as well. I hope you get one. you wont regret it. :)

Here is mine on my wife's shoulder.
